Translation

They have adopted deities other than Allah, hoping that they will provide dignity to them.

Tafsir

Since Allah (swt) knows what the people He has created intend and feel, Allah (swt), who has written those feelings and intentions as characters for them, informs us of their states.

People who do not believe in God and the Hereafter. In fact, these people know that they have been created by Allah. Nevertheless, the worldly world and its ornaments and amusements seem pleasant to them. With the temptation of the nafs and the devil, they turn their backs on Allah. They deny Allah and worship gods other than Allah, just to enjoy the pleasures of the world and to gain power and prestige among themselves. They associate partners with Allah.

Because these people follow their nafs, they deliberately fall into falsehood in order to gain worldly wealth, fame and reputation. Even though they know that the falsehood that their nafs gives them and justifies them is not true, they defend it for the sake of their fame and fortune, or for the sake of the reputation they have gained, or for the sake of a position they will get, and they want to convince themselves that such false temptations are true. They turn their backs on Allah. Therefore, while they live in the worldly realms, they live in eternal restlessness and disarray of heart.

What is said in the video

Surah Maryam, Surah Maryam, verse 81 is where we have come. So that they would be a means of esteem and strength for them, they took, besides Allah, other gods. Since Allah Almighty knows what the people He created desire and what they feel, Allah, who created those feelings and desires in them as character, informs us of the states of people. People who do not believe in Allah and the hereafter, these people actually know that they were created by a God. Nevertheless, the worldly realm and its adornment and amusement seem pleasing to people. Through the temptation of the nafs and Satan, they turn their backs on Allah.

Only to live the pleasure and enjoyment of the world and to find strength among one another and gain esteem, they deny Allah and worship gods other than Allah. They also associate partners with Allah. Because these people follow their nafs, in order to obtain worldly wealth, fame and esteem they knowingly sink into error. Although they know that the falsehood their nafs gives them and makes appear right is not true, for the sake of their glory and fame, or the esteem they have gained, or a position they are going to get, wanting to convince themselves of the truth of such false temptations, they defend falsehood.

They turn their backs on Allah. For this reason, while living in the worldly realms, in eternal unrest and (?) they live.
