Tafsir
Hadrat Suleiman 'alaihis-salâm' continued his speech and said, "Make some changes in Belkis' throne and see if she will be able to recognize it when she comes. His intention in saying this is to check Belkis' mental state and to show that Hazrat Solomon is superior to them in science and knowledge with the changes he made to his throne. He wanted to prove that he was superior to Belkis and those around him and to break their pride. It is to prepare them for the existence of Allah and that there is no other God but Him.
What is said in the video
We have come to verse 41 of Surah An-Naml.
Solomon continued and said — what did he say? The hoopoe, because of its late arrival — "if it does not give a valid excuse, I will wring its neck," he said.
And when the hoopoe gave a valid excuse, Solomon said: make her throne something she cannot recognize. Let us summarize before we get here. "Let me give you a letter," he said, "take it," he said, "leave it there and watch from afar," he said. What do they say? The hoopoe left the letter and watched from afar. The Queen of Sheba knows that Solomon's armies are strong. When she explains the situation to those around her, she too sends gifts to Solomon, and Solomon says, "Better than your gifts," he says, "is what Allah will give me." "If you," he says, "do not answer my call, that is, to the oneness of Allah, I will come in with my army," he says. Thereupon, after the messengers had gone, Solomon says, "Who," he says, "will bring her throne here?" At that moment an ifrit says, "I will bring it before you get up," and a man of the Book says, "before you open and close your eye," and the throne comes, the throne comes. Solomon continued and said: "Make her throne unrecognizable," he says, "now let us see whether she will recognize it or be among those who do not recognize it," he says. Now Solomon is testing the mental state of the Queen of Sheba, Bilqis.
Solomon (peace be upon him), continuing his speech, says: "Alter some part of Bilqis's throne. When she comes, will she be able to recognize her throne?" he says. In his saying this, (?) is to test Bilqis's mental state, and also, with the changes he had made to her throne, to show that Solomon was ahead of them in technology and knowledge. It is to prove that he is superior to Bilqis and those around her and to break their pride. To prepare them for the existence of Allah and that there is no other god besides Him — that is what it is for.
