“And verily, will you leave women and approach men with lust (after this warning)? You are certainly an ignorant nation.”

Tafsir

Hadrat Lot continued to address his people and said: "O my people! Know well that I, as the messenger of Allah, am warning you with this Divine warning. That is, I am informing you of what Allah has informed me. Are you going to leave your women and approach men in lust? Are you going to disbelieve in Allah and oppose what I say? If you go against what I have said and do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter and continue to do what you are doing, you will not only continue to be people without brains, but you will be subjected to the calamities of Allah as a people who continue the customs of your brainless ancestors.

The people of Hadrat Lut 'alaihis-salâm' were also people who went beyond the limits in immorality and did not recognize Allah and His Prophet. These are people who put the desires and wishes of their ego above obedience to the commands of Allah and His Prophets, and such people are those who act on their egoistic feelings without using their intellect.

Allah (swt) addresses such people in the Holy Qur'an as follows. (They are like the quadrupeds that walk on the earth). If a person does not use his intellect and acts on his egoistic feelings, they become like quadrupeds walking on the earth. Because the animal is programmed to do what it is programmed to do, and it performs that duty. However, with the value given to man, his will is given into his own hands. In this respect, human beings are responsible to Allah (swt) for what they do of their own volition.

If man, with his intellect and his will and his ability to decide for himself, does deeds that are lower than the animal, then he becomes a creature lower than the animal, and his path is the path of Hell, which is an evil place of return, and he has bought the eternal abode of Hell for evil deeds in this world.

It was because the people of the people of Hadrat Lot (peace be upon him) were more despicable than animals that he said to his people that you are a people who continue to be mindless.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Naml, verse 55. "After this divine warning, will you still insist on leaving women and approaching men with lust? Indeed, you are a people who persist in mindlessness," says Allah Almighty in the verse. Lot (peace be upon him) continues to address his people. O my people, know well that as Allah's messenger I am warning you with this divine warning. That is, I am conveying to you what Allah Almighty has made known to me. Will you insist on leaving your women and approaching men with lust? Will you disbelieve in Allah and oppose what I say? If you oppose what I say, do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter, and carry on with what you do, then not only will you go on being mindless people, but, as a people who keep up the customs of your mindless forefathers, you will be struck by Allah's calamities.

The people of Lot (peace be upon him) too had exceeded all bounds in immorality; they were people who recognized neither Allah nor prophet. They held the desires and wishes of their own nafs above the commands of Allah and obedience to His prophets; they were people ruled by the nafs, and such people act on the urges of the nafs without using their minds. Allah Almighty addresses such people in the Holy Quran like this: "They are like four-legged creatures roaming the earth," He says. So, a person does not use his mind; if he acts on the urges of the nafs, such people end up like four-legged creatures roaming the earth.

Indeed, with the deeds they do, they are even baser than animals, it says. Because Allah Almighty gave animals mates too. There are birds that live with one mate until they die. Yes.

With the mind found in man and his having the ability to decide for himself by his own will, through his actions, doing things baser than an animal, he in this case falls to the state of a creature even lower than an animal; as for his path, his course, his course has entered the road of hell, what an evil place of return, so that man buys the eternal abode of hell in this world in exchange for evil deeds. So Lot (peace be upon him), because the people of his folk were engaged in deeds baser even than animals, said to his people: "Indeed, you are a people who keep on persisting in mindlessness." Yes.
