Al-Anfal 48: (Remember) when Shaytan made the things they were doing appear attractive, and said; “On this day, there is no one among people who will be victorious above you. And I am your helper.” But when the two armies saw each other, he turned away and said, “I am far from you; I see that which you cannot see (the angels), I fear Allah. Allah’s punishment is severe.”

Translation

(Remember) when Shaytan made the things they were doing appear attractive, and said; “On this day, there is no one among people who will be victorious above you. And I am your helper.” But when the two armies saw each other, he turned away and said, “I am far from you; I see that which you cannot see (the angels), I fear Allah. Allah’s punishment is severe.”

Tafsir

Satan disguises himself as Shuraka bin Malik, one of the notables of the tribe of Beni Kinane. He enters among those who want to wage war with the Muslims, that is, the polytheists, and gilds their intentions to eliminate Islam. He flattered the pride of the polytheists by saying that there is no one in the world today who can fight you and there is no one who can overcome you. He whipped up the desire of the infidels to wage war against Islam. He also reinforced them in terms of strength by saying, "I am your helper". But when the two armies saw each other, when the Islamic army saw each other in the valley of Badr on the side of Madinah Munawwarah and the kuffar army saw each other in the valley of Badr on the side of Makkah al-Mukarrama, the evil demon Iblis said, "Today I am far away from you, because I see what you do not see," and he saw the angels standing in ranks that Allah sent down to help the Islamic army. The dhimmi fled back, saying, "I fear Allah and Allah's punishment is severe.

O man! If the unbeliever, who has been expelled from the presence of Allah, who is cursed and is destined for eternal hell and has no hope from Allah for forgiveness, and in spite of the fact that he is destined for hell, he runs away, saying, "I fear Allah, and the punishment of Allah is severe," then man has been created as the highest of creatures, If, despite being addressed to the Essence of Allah, despite being a fellow creature, he stands against Allah and Islam with hatred and hatred, does not use his mind even as much as the devil, does not fear Allah, and rebels against Allah, he has purchased the eternal torment of Hell and the Fire of Allah.

While you are in the worldly world, before you stand against Allah by caressing your ego with your pride and greatness, hold your hand to the fire of a candle, which is the lightest of fires. If you can tolerate this fire, then do something that flatters your ego and your pride. If you cannot tolerate it, how can you tolerate this hellfire when the fire of a candle is nothing compared to the fire of hell?

Use your mind. Give up the path that your ego and the devil show you. Turn to Allah. The state of those before us is before our eyes, they have all passed on to the Hereafter. Some went obedient and some rebellious. They lived a little or a lot. They lived either in wealth or in poverty. They completed their lives in pain and sorrow or in peace. But pain and sorrow, existence and non-existence, all of them remained in this temporary realm of property. The eternal Hereafter is not like the worldly realm. When one passes into an immortal life, the pain and suffering are permanent and the joy and peace are permanent. Do not buy the eternal torment and this abode of torment by satisfying your ego for the joy and peace of this temporary realm and by making friends with the devil.

What is said in the video

When Satan made their deeds seem fair to them and said: Today, among people, to overcome you there is no one. Surely I am your helper, he said. But when the two armies saw each other, he turned on his heels and said: I am your — and I am far from you. I see what you do not see, the angels. I fear Allah. Allah's punishment is severe, he said. Who said this? Satan said it. Satan.

Meccan — in a narration, to the Meccan idolaters he appears in human guise.

Making the Prophet's army look small, he wants the Meccan polytheists, well, to prepare an army, march against the Prophet and bring him down, defeat him. Upon this the Meccans gather.

At Badr — the place where those angels that were seen helped, the Battle of Badr. There, he comes as far as there. Seeing the angels there ready, he says: I fear Allah. Today I am far from you. Today my eye is very sharp. I see what you do not see, he says. In the verse. Satan — Suraqa ibn Malik, of the notables of the Banu Kinana tribe — takes on his guise.

He makes their intention of abolishing Islam look gilded to the polytheists. Today on earth there is no one who can contend with you. Saying there is no one who will overcome you either, he flattered the pride of the polytheists. He whipped up the unbelievers' desire to wage war with Islam. Also, saying I too am your helper, he became a reinforcement to them by way of strength. But when the two armies saw each other — the army of Islam in the Valley of Badr on the side of Medina the Illuminated, the army of the unbelievers in the Valley of Badr on the side of Mecca the Honored — when they saw each other, the accursed Iblis, saying 'Today I am far from you, for what you do not see, I see,' had seen the angels that Allah Almighty, to help the army of Islam, had sent down, standing in rows.

The accursed one, saying I fear Allah, Allah's punishment is severe, fled back. So, O human, the one expelled from Allah's presence, cursed, eternally destined for hell, with no hope left from Allah for his forgiveness — the accursed one, though he is destined for hell in this situation, says: I fear Allah.

Allah's punishment is severe, and flees back; if the human, though created as the most sublime of creation, though addressed by Allah's essence, though he is the noblest of creatures, with hatred and spite stands against Allah and Islam, does not use his mind even as much as Satan, does not fear Allah, rebels against Allah, he will have bought Allah's place of eternal punishment, hell, and its fire. Yes.

While in this world, flattering your nafs with pride and grandeur, against Allah standing — (?) against our Lord, people's (?), so long as he doesn't do what He said. He feels a greatness in himself. Today those who oppose the ones calling the adhan, with the whims of their nafs. Look, I don't listen to anyone. In the world there is such a yoke on your neck that whether you listen or not, you are condemned to that yoke, that yoke; that yoke will in the end settle your account in the hereafter. Yes, while in this world, before, flattering your nafs with pride and grandeur, against Allah you stand, hold your hand to the lightest of fires, the flame of a candle.

If you can endure this fire, then go ahead, your nafs and your pride do the things that flatter them. If you cannot endure it — when a candle flame next to hellfire is not even a trifle — how will you be able to endure this hellfire?

O human! Use your mind! Turn away from the path your nafs and Satan show you! Turn to Allah! The state of those before us is before our eyes. They all passed to the hereafter. Some as obedient, some as rebellious they went. Whether they lived little or lived long,

they carried on their lives either in wealth or in want. They completed their lives in pain and sorrow or in peace. But pain and grief, wealth and want, all of it remained in this transient material world. The eternal abode of the hereafter is not like this world. When one passes into a deathless life, its pain and agony are lasting, its joy and delight too are lasting. For the joy and delight of this transient world, satisfying your nafs, befriending Satan, the eternal punishment and this abode of punishment do not buy.
