Al-Anbya 38: They ask; “if you are truthful, when is this threat (going to come)?”

Translation

They ask; “if you are truthful, when is this threat (going to come)?”

Tafsir

Through the miracle of the Qur'an, the Prophet (PBUH) came to bring good news of Paradise and fear of Hell. In this respect, when he informed people that the Day of Judgment would come, that people would be resurrected in the Hereafter, that those who did not believe in Allah and His Prophets would be tormented in Hell, and when he told people the Truth, people saw this as a pressure and a threat on them, and they said, "If you are right, when will this threat (come true)?" In other words, when will the Day of Judgment come. When will we see this punishment that you say. Because the human nature is in a hurry, they wanted the Day of Judgment to come and the torment of Hell to be seen. However, they want the life that is given to human beings and the punishment that they will see after they taste death in this world and resurrect in the Hereafter, taking rewards and sins for what they have done in this life.

That is why Allah says, 'I will show you My Signs, so do not ask Me in haste.

What is said in the video

We have come to verse 38 of Surah Al-Anbiya. They say, if you are truthful, when will this threat come true, if you are truthful? I mean, a person should at least say: come on, I ask my Lord for provision. If you have a Lord, and if I am a polytheist, Allah forbid. Say: I ask my Lord for mercy. I want a vineyard. I want a car. I want a (?). For example, according to the times. Say it like this. Always the same with those of old. Come on, if you have a Lord, when will He bring the punishment on me? Always punishment, look. All their requests: always punishment. They never ask for mercy. Yes. Why do they never ask for mercy?

There is a reason for that. Because, since they oppose Allah, since they take Allah lightly, they take even the punishment that will come from Him lightly. And so Allah Almighty destroys them altogether. What does Surah Al-Anbiya say in verse 38? They say: If you are truthful, when will this threat come true? The Prophet (peace be upon him), with the miracle of the Quran, came to people as a bearer of the good news of paradise and a warner of hell. Therefore, when he made known that the Day of Judgment will come, that people will be resurrected in the hereafter, that those who do not believe in Allah and His prophets will suffer punishment in hell, when he told people the truth, people, since they saw these things as pressure and a threat upon themselves, said: If you are truthful, when will this threat come true?

That is, when will this Day of Judgment come? When will we see this punishment you speak of? Since there is hastiness in human nature, they wanted the Day of Judgment to come and the punishment of hell to be seen. Yet with this life given to man, and by what he does within it earning reward and sin, tasting death in this world and being resurrected in the hereafter, after the reckoning the punishment he will see: this they want right away. This is why Allah says: I will show you My signs. Do not ask Me to hasten.
