They said, “we have found our fathers worshipping these.”
Tafsir
Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) continued to warn his father and his people not to worship idols. He said that the idols you worship and the idols you shape with your hands cannot be gods. When he thus entrusted the Truth to his people, his people addressed Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' as follows: "We found our fathers worshipping them." This is where ignorance begins. If people do not use their minds and blindly follow something, such people will be dragged into the swamps of ignorance and disasters. Even if he is my father, if what he does is wrong and rebellion, why should I follow his path?
However, when people act outside the command of Allah for their own ego and desires, the deviant paths are pleasing to people. Even if his reason shows him the truth, he cannot give up what his ego likes and return to the commands of Allah. In that case, he looks for someone to blame. And that is already ready in front of him. When they say, "We found our fathers worshipping these things," they are attributing their own faults to their fathers. Tomorrow, when they become fathers themselves, who will they be able to blame for this?
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Anbiya, verse 53: They said, we found our fathers worshipping these. Well, when your father tells you something improper, you say, I won't do it.
You see your father is wrong, you say, I won't do it. You say there is harm in it. Well, when you saw your father worshipping them, when you saw them worshipping them, it means your nafs likes it too, since you also worship it.
No one will be able to blame anyone. Each will be called to account himself for the paths he entered by his own wish and will. They said, we found our fathers worshipping these. Abraham (peace be upon him) keeps warning his father and his people not to worship idols. He said, the idols you worship and shape with your own hands cannot be gods. When he conveyed the truth to his people in this way, his people addressed Abraham (peace be upon him) like this: We found our fathers worshipping these. This is where ignorance begins. If people do not use their minds and blindly run after things, such people end up in swamps of ignorance and in disasters, dragged into them.
Even if it is my father, if what he does is a mistake and rebellion, why should I follow his path, for what reason? But even if it is bad, if my nafs likes it, I'll do it too. If my nafs likes it, my father does it anyway, I'll do it too. So what, my father does it too. May Allah protect us. But when people act outside Allah's command for the sake of their nafs and whims, deviant paths seem pleasant to them. Even if his mind shows him what is right, a person does not give up what his nafs likes and return to Allah's commands. In that case he looks for someone to put the blame on.
And that someone is already right in front of him. Who? His father. By saying we found our fathers worshipping these, they put their own blame on their fathers. Tomorrow, when they become fathers themselves, on whom will they put this blame? They will become fathers, (?). Yes. What does this resemble? In Hell they will say to Satan, To Satan. Satan is the orator of Hell.
We followed what you said. can you lighten the punishment on us a little? And he will say, I made you promises too, but I turned out to be a liar. I had no authority over you anyway, he will say. Allah Almighty makes this known anyway. What does He say? To My servant who knows Me, Satan's temptation is (?), He says. (?). So Satan has no authority over man. What is authority? Whatever covenant you made with Allah Almighty within your destiny, in return for that covenant, in return for your covenant, when someone shows you a way, you say, ah, okay. Why do you say that? Your character is like that, that's why, that's why you like it.
You immediately rush to do it. Yes.
