They said, “did you bring to us the truth or are among those swindlers?”
Tafsir
Then the people of Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' said to Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm', "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of the magicians?" That is, are you telling us the Truth or are you one of the magicians? Although Hazrat Ibrahim explained the Truth to his people, his people did not believe in Hazrat Ibrahim.
Let not a person first be blind in his eyes and deaf in his ears. They neither see the Truth nor want to hear the word of the Truth. These are people who are disoriented in the middle of a straight path.

Surah Al-Anbiya, verse 55: They said, have you brought us the truth? Well, of course, have you no sense? He explains it to you so well. If you worship lifeless things, idols, if you ask of them. And the other one says: the Owner of the worlds. The Owner of the worlds. You see, he is giving news of the unseen. They said, have you brought us the truth? Or are you one of the spoilsports? What are spoilsports? Regarding the idols they worship, you see, as a spoilsport they now see Abraham. We worship these. And this is our tradition, or have you come to spoil it? Have you come to break this custom?
they say. Thereupon the people of Abraham (peace be upon him) say this to Abraham (peace be upon him): Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of the spoilsports? That is, are you telling us the truth, or are you one of the sorcerers? they said. Although Abraham explained the truth to his people, his people did not believe Abraham (peace be upon him). May a person not be blind of eye and deaf of ear in the first place. Hatemallâhu alâ kulûbihim ve alâ sem'ihim ve alâ ebsârihim gışâvetün ve lehüm azâbün azîm. They are such persons: in Allah's world, to Allah Almighty saying "I created you" they are blind.
Although he sees what the one before him has created, he waits for the Lord of his imagination; his ears are deaf. Because he waits for that Lord of his imagination, to the being before him, to Allah having created him, his ears are deaf. You see, in this case, when our Lord seals the heart, you cannot say: You sealed my heart. You yourself had your heart sealed. Yes.
May a person not be blind of eye and deaf of ear in the first place. They neither see the truth nor want to hear the word of truth. These are people who have lost their way in the middle of (?).
