Al-Hajj 11: Some among mankind worship Allah from only one condition, such that, when goodness reaches them, they will be content, but when a calamity hits them, their faces change (turn away from Allah). They have lost their worldly life and their hereafter. This is a clear loss.

Translation

Some among mankind worship Allah from only one condition, such that, when goodness reaches them, they will be content, but when a calamity hits them, their faces change (turn away from Allah). They have lost their worldly life and their hereafter. This is a clear loss.

Tafsir

It is narrated that this verse was revealed as follows. The people of a tribe called Earib came to Madinah Munawwara and when one of them became wealthy and prosperous and multiplied with his children and children's children, he said, "How good of me to have entered this religion. Then, when a calamity befell him, he left the religion with many complaints, and this verse was revealed. Since there will always be such people, Allah (swt) says to such people in His verse that they have lost both this world and the Hereafter and have suffered loss.

Allah (swt) sometimes tests people with their wealth and sometimes with their lives. In these cases, people value the life of this world and cannot tolerate the temporary calamities that Allah (swt) has given them. They turn their backs on Allah and leave the religion. Such people lose both their worldly life and the Hereafter. This is the real waste.

People's bankruptcy in this world is temporary. Allah guarantees the sustenance of every creation. If a person's sustenance were to run out, his life would be over. Therefore, if a person has more wealth than he can consume in his lifetime, but he apostatizes in the face of a calamity that befalls him, then he has lost the Hereafter and is a real loser, who has bought torment with his rebellion against Allah. The Prophet (PBUH) said in one of his hadiths, "The bankrupt of my Ummah is not the one who is bankrupt in this world, but the one who is bankrupt in the Hereafter". In this case, people who exchange the worldly realm for the Hereafter, by leaving the religion of Allah (swt) in the face of calamities, suffer loss in this worldly life and loss in the realm of the Hereafter, which is their true home, and this is the real loss. This loss is irreparable. In the Hereafter, people who have suffered loss will be given an opportunity to return to the worldly life, and they will have bought eternal torment there.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Hajj, verse 11. We start from there. Among people there is one who serves Allah from one side only. That is, if some good touches him, he is very pleased with it. But if he meets with a calamity, his face changes and he turns away from the religion. He has lost both his world and his hereafter. This is the manifest loss itself. Yes. How beautifully Allah Almighty gives people examples.

They tell the (?) of this verse's revelation as follows. The people of a tribe called (?) came to Medina the Radiant, and one of them, when he came to own property and wealth and his children (?) increased, said: How well I did to enter this religion; then, when a calamity befell him, with lots of complaints, his leaving the religion, so to speak.

When he left the religion, this verse was revealed. Since there will always be such people, Allah Almighty, about people in this situation, says with His verse that they have lost both their world and their hereafter and suffered loss. So He declares. Yes.

Allah Almighty tests people sometimes with their wealth and sometimes with their lives. In these situations people, valuing worldly life, cannot bear the temporary calamities that Allah Almighty has given them.

Turning their backs on Allah, they leave the religion. Such people lose both their world and the hereafter. And they are the ones who suffer the real loss. Otherwise, a person may go bankrupt financially, then earn money again, or even if he does not, if he went to Allah as (?), he has gained. Gained what? Paradise. He did not go bankrupt. The one truly bankrupt is the one who, even with property in the world, went to the hereafter without rewards, went as a non-Muslim — this is the bankrupt one. Yes. People's (?) in the world are temporary. Allah guarantees the provision of everything He created.

When a person's provision has run out, his lifespan has run out. In this case, although a person owns wealth he could not consume in his lifetime, if he leaves the religion in the face of a calamity that has befallen him, this person has also lost the hereafter and becomes one who has suffered the real loss, and such people, by their rebellion against Allah, have bought punishment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) declares, especially (?): The (?) of my ummah is the one who takes pride in the world, the one who takes pride in the hereafter. In this case, people who swap the world and the hereafter, in the face of calamities, by leaving the religion of Allah Almighty, suffer harm both in worldly life and suffer harm in the hereafter, their true home, and this is the real harm.

And there is no making up for this harm. Since people who suffer loss in the hereafter will not be given a chance to return again to worldly life, they have bought eternal punishment there. Yes.
