Translation

They worship somethings (idols) whose harm are much bigger than their benefits. How bad a helper and a companion (an idol) is.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) has not created anything in the universe empty and useless. He has created seventeen or eighteen thousand worlds as complementary to each other. Every creation has been created for a useful task. In this respect, creatures are useful for the tasks for which they were created.

When there is no Turkish equivalent in the verse (He begs for a being whose harm is closer to him than his benefit), the meaning here is that although they were created as a benefit for people, they were created as a benefit for people, but when people worship them and oppress their ego, they turn these created beings into a mechanism of harm to themselves instead of benefit, and the verse states that they have more harm than benefit. For they do not hear people begging them, nor can they bring harm or benefit to themselves.

What a bad helper and what a bad friend they have taken, besides wronging their own souls by worshipping them. When these objects of their worship are gathered in the presence of Allah on the Day of Judgment, when they are questioned, they will say to Allah (swt). O our Lord! You know that we were unaware of their worshipping us, and they will turn their backs and go away and perish. What an evil friend and what an evil helper are the objects of their worship.

What is said in the video

To a being whose harm is nearer than its benefit — harm nearer than its benefit — meaning it has no benefit at all. He pleads with idols; what an evil helper, what an evil friend is the one he pleads with. Why an evil helper?

It never helps him; it is always the man himself who gives to what he made with his own hand, who serves it. What an evil helper, isn't it? When he himself falls into harm, it does not help him. And when it says what an evil friend — he always, with the hand of friendship, gives to it, does things — what does he do? He feeds it, brings food to feed it, sets out (?), and for it slaughters sacrifices. But it does nothing at all for him. What an evil friend. How beautifully Allah Almighty puts it. What an evil helper, what an evil friend, He says.

Allah Almighty created nothing in the universe in vain or without purpose. He created the 17 and 18 thousand worlds to complement one another. Allah Almighty filters these worlds that He created to complement one another. In Egypt a lion kills an animal, its bones remain, and its bones the hyenas eat. Animals die in the mountains and become carrion. Vultures eat from it, pigs eat from it. This way everywhere becomes spotless. Once they did away with the cheetahs, and the monkeys covered the place in filth. Then they understood that the cheetahs were useful, and finally they brought the cheetahs back. Once they were put into that world, cleanliness began again.

That is, although Allah Almighty created this world with each being having a duty to perform, their abundance in one place, or the absence of their enemies — what does it do? It upsets the balance.

Every created thing has surely been created for a useful duty. Therefore created things are useful in the duties for which they were created. Since there is no Turkish equivalent in the verse, its saying "he pleads with a being whose harm is nearer than its benefit" — the meaning here is that, by people worshipping these, people can get no benefit from them; although these were created as a benefit for people, because people wrong their nafs by worshipping them, they have turned these created beings into a mechanism of harm to themselves instead of benefit, and so the verse states that their harm is greater than their benefit.

Because these neither hear people pleading with them, nor can they bring them any harm or benefit. So, besides wronging their nafs by worshipping these, people have taken what an evil helper and what an evil friend. It is for this reason that when the objects they worshipped, on the Day of Judgment, in the divine presence, are gathered and questioned, Allah Almighty will say this. They will say this to Allah Almighty: O our Lord, You too know that we were unaware of their worshipping us, saying this, they will turn their backs, go away and vanish. So the objects these people worship are what an evil friend and what an evil helper.
