Al-Hajj 15: Who think that, Allah will never help him (the Prophet) in the worldly life or in the Hereafter: Shall throw a rope on to the ceiling (tie it around their neck) and then take their feet (from the floor). Now they shall see, did this plan truly prevent the thing they have anger towards (Allah’s help for the Prophet)? (Sure it doesn’t help)

Translation

Who think that, Allah will never help him (the Prophet) in the worldly life or in the Hereafter: Shall throw a rope on to the ceiling (tie it around their neck) and then take their feet (from the floor). Now they shall see, did this plan truly prevent the thing they have anger towards (Allah’s help for the Prophet)? (Sure it doesn’t help)

Tafsir

This verse was revealed for those who disbelieved in the religion of Allah and His Messenger because of their worldly interests, thinking that the Jews would be angry with them and would not give them provisions if they converted to Islam, and also because some people from the tribes of Ghatfan and Beni Asad, who thought that Allah would not help His Messenger, were invited to Islam and did not convert to Islam, and also because these tribes traded with the Jews.

Surely Allah helps His Prophets. He helps His Prophets by showing them many miracles so that His servants believe in Allah and the Hereafter. Also, the destruction of the unruly people who did not believe in their Prophets and in Allah shows the help of their Prophets.

Allah does not tell people to commit suicide. In this verse, it says to throw a rope to the ceiling and tie the end of it around his throat and cut his feet off the ground, which shows the suicide of a human being.

His intention in saying this is that when people are alive, they cannot see how Allah helps His Prophets and they cannot know the greatness of the Prophets in the sight of Allah. It is only after death that they realize that the Prophets are true and Allah is true. They see the exalted position Allah has given His Prophets and then they realize how Allah helps His Prophets. Allah (swt) is saying to such people, if you say that Allah will not help His Messenger, then go ahead and commit suicide and after you taste death, see if your trick of saying that Allah will not help His Messenger is true. Just as people who deny Allah are hell-bound, those who commit suicide are hell-bound because they betray the life Allah has given them. For those who take their lives out of spite against Allah for the life that Allah has given them to live are also hellish. Therefore, there is no difference between such people committing suicide and dying a normal death, so go ahead and commit suicide. He says, "See at once whether Allah is helping His Messenger or not, and whether Allah's promise is true or not.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Hajj, verse 15: "Whoever thinks that Allah will never help him, that is, His Messenger, in this world and the hereafter — since Allah does help him — then let that person throw a rope to the ceiling, put it around his neck, and then lift his feet off the ground; now let this person see whether his trick, this thing he did, will really prevent what he is angry about, Allah's help to the Prophet," it says. Very meaningful, yes, a verse that very much needs explaining; we have in fact written this one a bit at length, sir, we wrote it at length. Now, Allah Almighty never cuts off His help to His prophets.

Allah Almighty also does not cut off His help to the scholar servant He has raised. Because the servant He raised — if Allah, our Lord, has raised that servant of His, He knows that this servant will not go astray. Because there is not a single living being to come until the Day of Judgment of whom We do not know what it will do, according to the verse. He knows that this servant will not turn his back on Him. He fears Him and loves Him very much. In that case, when that servant speaks of Allah, Allah Almighty helps him with inspiration. He teaches him what he does not know and has him explain the truth to people.

So if such people think that such people of His will not be helped, that verse, this verse applies to them as well. Because it says scholars are the heirs of the prophets. Not those with a diploma in hand who can't tell an alif from a rafter. Those raised by Allah, people of whom it is said that their passing to the hereafter is like the sun going and its (?) coming. Yes. This verse: some people of the Ghatafan, who thought Allah would not help His Messenger, and Banu Asad tribes were invited to Islam and became Muslim; and these peoples, who traded with the Jews, thinking that once they entered Islam the Jews would be angry with them and give them no provisions, for worldly interests — it was revealed for those who denied Allah's religion and His Messenger.

Allah Almighty surely helps His prophets. That He had His prophets show many miracles so that His servants would believe in Allah and the hereafter is a help to His prophets. Also, the destruction of the rebellious peoples who did not believe in His prophets and in Allah shows His help to His prophets. Allah does not tell people to commit suicide. In this verse, however, saying "let him throw a rope to the ceiling, put its end around his neck, and lift his feet off the ground" shows a person committing suicide. The intent in saying it this way: people, while alive, cannot see how Allah helps His prophets.

Because it is a hidden realm. Allah Almighty has tied everything in this world to causes. One cannot know. Just as the Jews to Moses, (?)'s people said to Moses: "Unless you show us Allah openly, we will not believe you." Thereupon Allah Almighty struck that people with lightning out of nowhere. That is, He killed them. After showing His Essence, He brought them back to life. In this world there is no seeing. We are in this world without seeing. This is the same. Go on, it says, hang a rope around your neck, commit suicide. After you die, take a look, I say, does Allah help His servant or not? Yes. That Moses's people (?) by lightning, died and were brought back to life, and why people (?), that too they do not know. Yes. Whereas the secret of that death: since Allah Almighty in this world will not show His Essence, in the realm of the hereafter (?), but anyway He was before us, we saw. Yes.

In this case, their being revived after He showed them His Essence. Here too it says: after you die, take a look, do I help or not? Yes. Only after a person dies — His prophets, that the prophets are true, that Allah is true — do they understand. Yes.

Here we

The intent in its being said this way: while alive, people cannot see how Allah helps His prophets. They cannot know the prophets' exalted rank in Allah's sight. Only after a person dies do they understand that the prophets are true, that Allah is true. Seeing the exalted rank Allah has given His prophets, they then understand how Allah helps His prophets. Allah Almighty, to such people: if you say Allah will not help His Messenger, then go ahead, commit suicide, and after you have tasted death, take a look: with you, that is, is your saying that Allah does not help His Messenger true? He says. Indeed, just as people who deny Allah are destined for hell, those who commit suicide are destined for hell too, since they betray the life Allah gave.

Because those who, out of resentment toward Allah, the lifetime Allah gave them to live — those who take their own lives are destined for hell too. In this respect, since for such people there is no difference between suicide and a normal death: go on then, commit suicide; whether Allah helps His Messenger or not, whether Allah's promise is true, see it as soon as possible, He commands. Yes.
