Al-Hajj 31: Become Allah’s Haneefas (who know, Allah is the One and only God), do not associate any partners with Allah. Whenever you associate partners with Allah, it is as if you fell from the sky, broken into pieces, and taken by the birds, or as if (you were something) an object the wind has carried far away.

Translation

Become Allah’s Haneefas (who know, Allah is the One and only God), do not associate any partners with Allah. Whenever you associate partners with Allah, it is as if you fell from the sky, broken into pieces, and taken by the birds, or as if (you were something) an object the wind has carried far away.

Tafsir

Those who do not associate partners with Allah (swt), who submit to Allah (swt) by affirming that Allah (swt) is one and that there is no other God but Allah (swt), who do not love Allah's creatures more than Allah (swt), who love Allah (swt) by not equating anything with Allah (swt), are the hanifs of Allah. That is to say, those who are Muslims by birth, like Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm', and who do not associate any partners with Allah are hanifs. This is because Allah has willed that His Essence should be known. He has made the heavens and the earth and all that is between them remember Him by making them remember Him. But He has not given a soul to any of His creatures except human beings. Among the created beings, only human beings have a soul. In this case, the will-i-juz-iye is in the hands of humans. The will is only in humans and jinn. Allah (swt) has not given life to some of His creatures; there is no life in materials such as stone, earth, rock, water, etc. He has not given souls to some. Like Melaike-i Kiram. The only beings in the universe who have been given soul, life and soul, as well as the will, are human beings, apart from Allah. In this respect, the human being is addressed to the Essence of Allah (swt) and created as an equal creature.

Here, the soul, the nafs and the soul are together, and with the human being to whom He has also given the will, Allah (swt) has not pressurized this human being in any way by His Essence, by using His own will. Again, Allah (swt) has not programmed human beings by using His will. When people program themselves to Allah (swt) with their own will, their desires and wishes are written down as their destiny.

With man, whose will is in his own hands, Allah (swt) has willed that these people should know His Essence without any pressure or intimidation, entirely of their own volition. Therefore, by sending human beings to a realm of the unseen, Allah did not leave them alone, but sent Prophets and Books, as well as scholars, to make His Essence known. Allah, who values human beings so much, addresses them with His Verses, telling them to return to Him and that no creature other than Him can benefit them. In this respect, whoever takes their place with Allah, avoids His commands and prohibitions, and submits to Allah, those people become the Hanifs, the beloved of Allah. Whoever makes Allah love them will be the sultans of the Hereafter and the heirs of the abode of eternal bliss.

And whoever associates partners with Allah and turns away from Allah, Allah (swt) gives two examples. The first is when a person falls from the sky and is torn to pieces and feels as if he has been snatched by birds. These people feel that they have no security and are not protected by anyone, so they feel as if they are in a vacuum, surrounded by wild creatures that will harass them and persecute them at any time. The second example has the same meaning. The verse says, "Or it is like (an object) that the wind has blown away," meaning that these people were suddenly, unprepared, blown away by a storm or a hurricane into a town full of unknown wild animals. They are in a state of confusion and fear, not knowing what to do or where to take refuge. Such is the state of those who turn away from Allah (swt) and turn their backs on Allah (swt). If we become a servant to Allah (swt) and an ummah to His Messenger, we will fulfill our world and our hereafter.

What is said in the video

To the 31st verse of Surah Al-Hajj we have come. Without associating partners with Him, be Allah's hanifs, believers who recognize His oneness. Whoever associates partners with Allah is as if he had fallen from the sky and been shattered, and birds had snatched him, or like an object the wind has swept away to a faraway place. Today non-Muslims in this state always feel alone, you see, and they are always in fear, their hearts are restless, everything rests on matter; if he has material things, he leans his back on them and tries to find salvation in them. Without associating partners with Allah Almighty, affirming that Allah is one and that there is no other god besides Him, those who submit to Allah, those who do not love Allah's creations more than Allah, those who, setting nothing as partner or equal to Allah, love Allah Almighty, are Allah's hanifs.

That is, those who are Muslim from birth like Abraham (peace be upon him) and who never associate partners with Allah are the hanifs. Because Allah has willed that His Essence be known. The heavens and the earth and what is between them, by making known the (?) of His Essence, them to Himself (?). But to none of His creations other than humans did He give a soul. Among created beings, only humans have a soul. So the partial free will is in people's hands. Will exists only in humans and jinn. To some, Allah Almighty did not give life either. In things like (?), soil, rock, water and so on, there is no life.

To some He did not give a nafs. Like the noble angels. A being given soul, life and nafs and, besides, its own will into its hands exists in the universe, apart from Allah, only in humans. In this respect, man has been made the one addressed by Allah Almighty's Essence and has been created as the noblest of creatures.

Here we can explain hanif to you a little more nicely. Hanif: Abraham (peace be upon him), since he was born, since his birth, we said, didn't we; let it not be misunderstood here. Since he was born, he never worshipped any idol. And since he was born, he embraced the one Allah. So Muslims too, as hanifs, it says: since birth, that is, until reaching maturity. Even as a child, I remember, I was four years old, who is Azrael to take my life, I said. I would defy Azrael. Well, of course, I was a child. And I always knew the one and only Allah. One Allah. Even as a child: there is one Allah. Well, in nothing, I did not believe anybody's words.

That is, I did not believe the superstitions someone made up. So this is in the fitra, from Allah Almighty. We wanted it so; that is how He placed the fitra in us. So the humans in whom soul, nafs and life are together and into whose hands He also gave will, on these people Allah Almighty, by His Essence, using His own will, has in no way put pressure. Nor has Allah Almighty, using His own will, programmed people. Through people, of their own will, having Allah Almighty program them, the wishes and desires of these people have been written for them as destiny. Yes.

So the people whose will is in their own hands, the people: Allah Almighty, without putting any pressure on these people and without frightening them, wanted, entirely by their own wish, His Essence to be known. That is why Allah, who sent man to an unseen world, in sending man to a world where His Essence is not seen, did not leave them alone; so that His Essence may be known, He sent prophets and books, and also scholars. Allah, who values man so much, addressing man with His verses, makes known that they should return to His Essence and that no created being other than Him will be of any benefit to them.

In this respect, whoever takes his place beside Allah, is mindful of His command and prohibitions and submits to Allah, those people become Allah's hanifs, that is, His beloved ones. Whoever makes Allah love them becomes the sultans of the hereafter and the heirs of the abode of eternal bliss.

And whoever associates partners with Allah and turns his face away from Allah, Allah Almighty gives two examples of them. In the first example, a person falls from the sky and is shattered and feels as if birds had snatched him. These people have no security at all and are protected by no one; therefore, feeling themselves in a void, they feel as if their surroundings were full of wild creatures and that at any moment they will be harassed and oppressed. The second example has the same meaning. But it is told from a different angle. With the verse where it says, or like an object the wind has swept away to a faraway place, again these people, suddenly and unprepared, have been swept by a storm or hurricane into a land full of other unknown animals; not knowing what to do or where to take refuge, they are bewildered and full of fear.

So the state of those who stay far from Allah Almighty and turn their backs on Allah, the state of those who turn their backs on Allah, is like this. As servants to Allah Almighty and the ummah of His Beloved, we will have made our world and our hereafter prosperous. Yes.
