And on Mount Tur-Sinai, We brought forth a tree which produces oil and is an addition (olives for their breads).
Tafsir
According to this verse, the homeland of olives is the mountain of Tur-i Sinai. Allah (swt) also compares the light He has placed in the human heart to a lamp lit from olive oil, showing that olives have many benefits for human beings.
When the verse says that olives make oil and additives to bread, there are many benefits for the human body. The oil also keeps the intestines soft and prevents poverty. In fractures and dislocations, or when a person sprains and swells, the olive seed is pounded in a mortar and pestle, and when it is wrapped with a cloth on the skewer, it reduces the swelling of the sprained place. It relieves the person. It is also a remedy for many other problems we do not know. Although Allah created all the plants, fruits and vegetables, His mention of some plants shows that they are more useful than others.
What is said in the video
In verse 20 of Surah Al-Mu'minun: We brought forth another tree that grows on Mount Sinai too, the olive tree; what a fine relish for your bread it makes, it says. We brought forth another tree that grows on Mount Sinai, which gives both oil and olives that those who eat will take as a relish with their bread. According to this verse, the homeland of the olive is Mount Sinai. Moreover, Allah Almighty likens the light He placed in the human heart to a lamp lit with olive oil, and by this the olive's many benefits for people are shown. When the verse says oil from the olive and a relish for one's bread, it also has many benefits for the human body.
Its oil also keeps the bowels soft and prevents constipation. In fractures and dislocations, or when a part of someone is sprained and swollen, the olive, pounded in a mortar together with its pit and wrapped onto the swelling with a cloth, brings down the swelling of the sprain and relieves the person. It is also a cure for many ailments we do not yet know of. Although Allah created all the plants, fruits and vegetables there are, His mentioning certain plants shows that these are more useful than the others. And every morning I eat at least seven olives.
Say I have had breakfast and there was no need for olives. I still eat seven of those olives. I take them; even though I am full, or even though I have had my breakfast, seven olives I eat without fail. More than that? Sometimes. But I try not to go below it.
