Hit each of the woman and the man who have committed adultery a hundred times if you believe in Allah and the Hereafter. Do not have pity on them (while performing rulings) in the religion of Allah. And a group among the believers (mu’min) should witness the punishment applied on them.
Tafsir
When the guilt of the adulterous woman and the adulterous man is established, each of them shall be struck with a hundred sticks. This punishment is for a man who has never married and a woman who has never married. The man and the woman should be given to each other before the punishment is applied. If they do not want each other, then they are punished with beatings.
These two adulterous men and women should be beaten with a hundred sticks each. When these strokes are given to them, they should not be pitied. Because they have brought forth a cause and filth. It is absolutely necessary to remove this cause and filth. If anyone pities them, they will become those who consent to this cause and filth, and they will be sinners. Therefore, when practicing the religion of Allah, one should not pity people, and by practicing the religion of Allah, one should give life to the successive generations.
When these sticks are struck, the believers must also witness this beating. We have explained the believers in the previous verses, they are the ones who are aware of the revelation. They will make the right decision even if it is against them. Therefore, they should be witnesses to the beating of these adulterers so that both the guilty and those who punish them are absolved from responsibility. Allah (swt) knows how these people struck and with what intention, but He (swt) still instructs that a group of the believers should be present and testify against them on the Day of Judgment.
Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), while applying the punishment of beating, killed his son on the fortieth caning. Then he sat down and began to cry. Some of the Companions who saw this said, O Omar, did you love your son more than Allah's commandment that you sit and cry? 'Umar said to them, "No, I am not weeping because he is dead, nor because I loved him more than Allah, but I am weeping because when I inflicted this punishment of caning on him, I wondered if I had been merciful and I hit him a little too lightly.
We should not feel pity for people while implementing the commands of Allah. Otherwise, we will be flooding the place with filth and immorality, we will be distancing people from justice, we will be helping these guilty people to get away with their dirty deeds, and we will be helping them to oppress oppressed people.
What is said in the video
Now here it comes to those who commit fornication. But people, out of their unruliness, though to Allah they gave their word, out of weakness of faith, that is, despite being Muslim, out of weakness of faith, believing the words of non-Muslims, ask: is there stoning? Stoning. Here is the verse on stoning.
Strike each of the woman and the man who commit fornication a hundred blows with a stick. These are for the unmarried. For the unmarried. If they marry each other, there is no need at all, no need for the stick either. If they do not want each other, then strike them a hundred blows. If you believe in Allah and the Last Day, while applying His rulings in Allah's religion let no pity for them take hold of you. And let a group of the believers witness the punishment applied to them, it says.
When the crime of fornication of the fornicating woman and the fornicating man is established, each of them is given a hundred strokes of the rod. This beating punishment concerns a man who has never married and an unmarried woman. Before the beating punishment is applied, the man and the woman should be married to each other. If they do not want each other, then the beating punishment is applied to them. These two, the fornicating woman and man, are to be given a hundred (?) rod strokes. While these blows are struck on them, one must not pity them. Because they have put forth a disease and filth into the open. This disease and filth must certainly be cleaned up.
Whoever pities them comes to be in the position of those who consent to this disease and filth, and so becomes a sinner. For this reason, while applying Allah's religion one should not pity people, and by applying Allah's religion give life to the generations that follow. Now, how is the beating punishment carried out? You tuck the stick under your armpit. You strike with the stick with all your strength. But not by putting your body's weight into it like this. With all the strength of your hand you strike the person like this. With all its strength. Now, not, you know, just for show. This is what Allah Almighty says. You know, don't strike holding back out of pity like this, it says.
Or, like this, standing where you are, without (?), like this, you would deal a deep blow to the back. Don't do it like this either. Loading up like this. Well, they take the hundred blows. Whoever survives, survives. Whoever dies, dies.
While these blows are struck, the believers too must witness this beating. We explained the believers in the earlier verses. They are people who have grasped the divine manifestations. They judge rightly even if it is against themselves. For this reason, that while these fornicators are being beaten they witness these people is so that both the guilty and those applying the punishment to them may be freed from responsibility. Although Allah Almighty knows with what intent and how these people were struck, still that a group of the believers be present and, on the Day of Resurrection, about them bear witness — this He makes known.
While Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was applying the (?) punishment, at the fortieth blow he kills his son. Then he sits down and begins to weep. Some of the Companions who saw this say: O Umar, did you love your son more than Allah's command that you sit here weeping? Umar answers them: No, neither because he died nor because I loved him more than Allah am I weeping. While giving him this beating, did pity take hold of me, did I strike with the stick a little lightly — that is why I weep.
So when Allah's commands are being applied, let our pity for people not take hold. Otherwise it drowns everything in filth and immorality and takes people far from justice. It lets these guilty people get away with the filth they commit, it comes to that. In their wronging innocent people, we would have helped them.
