If they believe as you believe, they surely have found guidance. If they turn away, they are upon separation and animosity towards you. Do not worry about their enmity, Allah is sufficient for you. Allah is Samee (All-Hearing) and Aleem (All-Knowing).

Tafsir

If Christians and Jews, or people of any faith other than Islam, think as people of Islam think, that is, if they believe that there is no God but Allah, that there is no God but Allah, that Allah has revealed His Book, His prophets, angels, good and evil, resurrection after death, and being held accountable in the Court of Judgment, then they are on the path of guidance shown by Allah. They are believers. On the contrary, if they turn away from the religion of Islam, they are on a path of separation from Islam. They are enemies of those who are Muslims because of the enmity they harbor in their hearts against Allah.

(Do not worry about their enmity, Allah is sufficient for you.) Allah, Who created these worlds within a program, knows what they will do and what their feelings are, so He says, "Do not worry about them, Allah is sufficient for you". Because if all beings were to unite, they would not be able to overpower Allah. And if Allah is with the one He loves, no one will be able to do that either.

(Allah is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing.) Surely Allah, Who has programmed the covenant of mankind as a destiny for Himself, is the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing, the All-Knowing.

If people could use their intellect, there would not be a single person on earth who would not be Islamic. All ingenuity is in the use of the intellect. Allah has created the intellect to know His Essence. In this respect, people know the existence of Allah. But they do not control their ego and follow the path indicated by reason. May Allah include us among His servants who can use their minds.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 137: If they believe as you believe, they have surely found guidance. Who are they? Non-Muslims, those who chase after conjectures. But if they believe as you believe, they have surely found guidance. There is no one, there is no one among created beings — among these created beings, those who believe in Allah, His angels, the hereafter, the prophets and resurrection after death, who make no distinction between Allah's prophets, and believe from the heart in the books Allah sent, attain the Paradises Allah promised, which they deserved. So what does it say? If they had believed as you believe, they would surely have found guidance, it says, they would have been saved, it says.

They would be saved. If they turn away, if, beyond what you believe, they step outside that faith and oppose you, they are in separation and hostility toward you, it says. How well it puts it. Then, if you do not follow them, they will never follow you, says Allah Almighty. In that case, do not worry about their hostility. Why? Because their hostility, within their own ideas, is against their own nafs. Allah has given each person a destiny. If within that destiny there is a calamity to befall him, it will happen anyway. So do not fear his hostility and fall into despair, it says. Don't fall into it. Do not worry, Allah is enough for you, it says.

Look, you are with Allah. How beautiful. Allah is enough for you. Allah is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, it says. Yes. The verses — how beautifully (?). Clear.

If Christians and Jews, or those who hold any belief outside Islam, if they think as people who are Muslims think, that is, that there is no god but Allah, and in the books Allah Almighty sent down, His prophets, His angels, good and evil, resurrection after death, being called to account at the Great Court — if they believe and have faith, then surely they are on the divine path Allah Almighty has shown.

These have believed. No — if (?) they turn away from what is said here, from the religion of Islam, they are in separation from Islam. Because of the hostility they harbour in their hearts toward Allah, they are hostile to whoever is Muslim. Yes.

We say: these have believed. No. If (?) they turn away from what is said here, from the religion of Islam, they are in separation from Islam. Because of the hostility they harbour in their hearts toward Allah, they are hostile to whoever is Muslim. Allah Almighty says this in a verse too: Their hearts are scattered and restless. Why? Because every created being, every created human must have a support. That is how Allah created. If there is no such support, people fall into distress.

Children lean on their mothers, their fathers; fathers on a (?), the grandfather, the grandpa, whatever, or on Allah — on Allah — or, those who do not worship or serve Allah, on idols. Now in this case, since he surely knows that he was created, he knows that. Because in the world of souls Allah Almighty gave the akl-ı maad. With the akl-ı maad that person, that soul, is aware that it was created by a Lord — it knows. In that case, when he does not recognise the Allah before him as Lord, as Creator, he waits for the Lord of his imagination. The verse 'they will not see their Lord' corresponds to this.

In that case these people come to earth, and when they come to earth, since they do not believe in Allah, they want a place to take refuge in and to trust. What is it? Idols. Idols. Even though by reason he knows that the idols will bring him no benefit — he knows this by reason — it is a lifeless thing he made with his own hands. Then, with the temptation Satan gives him, he tries to deceive his nafs. The Lord of his imagination comes, its spirit enters the idol he made; he worships the imagined spirit in the idol, not the idol.

That's how idolaters are. What happens then? The person enters a second dead end. Is it really so? Well, if it is there, he is pleading with that idol; when his affairs don't work out — is this spirit really there, I mean, is there really someone like that? Since they get no answer at all, they are in distress. But 'peace is in Islam' — why this word? Why? From believing in Allah, the Owner of the worlds, from trusting in Him, from leaning on Him. By leaning on the Owner of the universe, by submitting to Him, that our return is to Him too — by knowing this, by realising that the world is a temporary place of trial and that all souls will taste death, when he surrenders with his whole being to Allah, to the One who created him, he has held on to a great place, a great handle.

That is why he finds peace.

Yes. So because of the hostility they harbour in their hearts toward Allah, they are hostile to whoever is Muslim. Why are they hostile to whoever is Muslim? A second, additional meaning comes out. Because one in Islam, within Allah's light, that is, within the Sharia rulings He has sent us, without making mistakes, on his own feet, sensibly — far above the character of an unbeliever — lives an orderly and beautiful life, and so the one facing him, with carnal feelings, (?) within the intrigues given to him, within those dead ends, by reason (?), with those states of his he falls low, so facing a Muslim, he sees himself as a clown.

In that case he becomes hostile to the Muslim.

There is pride and arrogance in him, so, to humiliate him, to every kind of (?), every kind of intrigue he resorts. That is why, when a non-Muslim appears sincere to you, never believe it. As soon as he sees you down, he kicks you; if he gets hold of you, he buries you deep in the ground. Yes.

Do not worry about their hostility. Allah is enough for you, it says. Allah, who created these worlds according to a program, knows what they will do and what feelings they are in, so do not worry about them. Allah is enough for you, He says (?). Because we know that whatever is in my destiny will befall me. It will befall me. Our Lord sending us to this world is our being tested against our own nafs. It is so that we prove what kind of person we are. So if I think of my own nafs, fear the unbeliever and give in to him, within my own destiny I will have wronged my own nafs. I will have lived my destiny.

Now, there is a beautiful example here. I'll give an example. The Prophet (peace be upon him) searches for an enemy unit. Together with his own unit.

After searching for quite a while, he needs to relieve himself. He crosses a dry stream bed to the other side. There he breaks his ablution. While he is making ablution, a flood, a rain, a flood comes, that stream swells and our sultan is left on the other side. Sometimes, with us, in Arabia, those dry stream beds — suddenly a flood comes like this, that flood. And just like that, it then disappears. It lasts half an hour, an hour, and that flood disappears. Now, while he is standing there, the enemy he was looking for appears before him. He was already hiding. He presses his sword against the Prophet's chest.

Now, he says, who will save you from my hand?

The enemy says this. I have forgotten that enemy's name and tribe. I don't remember. That I don't remember.

At once the Prophet (peace be upon him) says this: O Allah, whatever You have decreed between him and me, make it manifest, O Allah, he says. How beautifully he says it. He doesn't answer him. Within his own destiny: O Allah, whatever has been made manifest between him and me within my destiny, bring it forth, he says. The sword in that enemy's hand — his wrist bends and the sword falls to the ground. The Prophet takes the sword. Now, he says, who will save you from my hand?

The one who was his enemy says: O Muhammad, I have believed in you. I mean, you truly are a prophet. But I will not turn to your religion, he says. I will not turn to your religion. If you spare me, (?), he says, I will tell my people, he says. Go then, he says. And that person tells his people about this event. And among his people, some become Muslims. Now how beautiful — the same event, what does it say? Do not worry about their hostility. Allah is enough for you, it says. By saying it to the Prophet, it addresses us. Allah is enough for us. As long as we say Allah. But you could say this: Hodja, I do say Allah, but what I wish for never happens. Surely you say 'O Allah', but a bit more you say 'yallah'.

I mean, 'yallah' and 'Allah' together doesn't work. You also have to be completely upright. Now let me tell you a story too. As the fox is crossing the stream, the snake says to the fox: hey fox, friend, brother fox, take me across too, it says. Hey, it says, would I carry you across? Then you'll play a trick on me, it says. No, I swear I won't do anything to you, it says. Well then, climb on my back, it says. The fox is just crossing the stream. As soon as its feet touch the ground, the snake starts squeezing the fox. It's going to eat it. I mean, it's going to kill the fox. Well, this one is a fox. What does it say?

Hey, it says, even though (?) you would kill me, it says — why did I carry you across, do you know, it says to the snake. Why did I carry you across, it says. Oh, I admire your eyes, it says. Show me those eyes of yours, it says. You're going to kill me anyway, it says. Don't kill me yet — let me see those eyes of yours one last time, it says. The snake grows proud and turns like this. It stretches out its head. When it shows it its eyes, (?). Snap — it lunges at once and strangles the snake by the throat. It pulls it out. Stretches it out long. Me, it says, I don't understand unless it goes like this, like this, it says.

Brother, be completely straight, it says. Yes.

So Allah is enough for us. Enough. Allah is enough for you, He says. Because even if all beings united, they could not overpower Allah. And if Allah is with the one He loves, no one can overpower him either. Yes. How many traps they set for the Prophet (peace be upon him). None of their power was enough to make him fall into that trap. Lastly, on the Hijra, going from Mecca al-Mukarramah to Medina al-Munawwarah, even at the cave of Thawr — although they came right up to it, still they could not get inside. If they had got in — Abu Bakr as-Siddiq is apprehensive: O Messenger of Allah... If they come in — do you see this stream right here, he says.

There is a boat ready there. We'll get on it and go, he says. This is Allah's miracle. Allah's miracle. In that stream — of course, what would a stream be doing there? Yes. These are miracles. What would a stream be doing there? (?) Yes. On top of a mountain. In that cave. These are miracles. Yes. And if it is the one Allah loves, no one can overpower him. Allah is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing. This is the continuation of the same verse. Surely Allah, who programmed people's covenant as their destiny, knows everything best, and knows what everyone will do, what they will say, what actions they will take, before the time comes — Allah surely hears best.

And accordingly, so that those people can prove what kind of people they are, He creates the events those people desire, and those people, by carrying out the events they desire, prove themselves. Saying Allah is on duty at every moment, that He is creating at every moment — this is it.

If people could use their minds, there would not be a single person left on earth who was not Muslim. If they had used their minds. All the skill lies in using the mind. That is, in making it reflect, making it think. Allah created the mind as knowing His essence. That is, not necessarily 'it's me', but: a being created me. Since there is no god but Allah, Allah created me. That mind knows: a being created me, and if this mind thinks — from our father Adam until now He has been addressing people through books and prophets. And He tells us about their past circumstances. He informs us of all future circumstances.

Besides, in these ages we live in, as technology advances, Allah's miracles come to light. The two seas flowing into each other and the two waters not mixing, fresh water and salt water not mixing. As Doctor Darbî found, the people of the Sabbath — that the skeleton of the monkey is from a human skeleton, and that in the verse, in that town, Allah Almighty transformed that people, the human people, into monkeys. So, if people were to use their minds, they would truly believe there is no god but Allah and break their nafs and find the truth. Allah created the mind as knowing His essence. That is why people know Allah exists.

But, ruled by their nafs, they cannot go on the path the mind shows. We said: may Allah count us among His servants who can use their minds. Amen.
