Those to whom We have given a Book know (the Prophet) as they know their own sons. Still, a group among them knowingly hid the Truth.
Tafsir
The Jews and Christians, who were given the Book, had the qualities of the Prophet written in the Bible and the Torah. In this situation, those who followed the People of the Book would wait for the Messenger of Allah to come. Those who did not live long enough would advise their children to follow the Messenger of Allah and wait for the Prophet by telling generations after generations. Each generation knew the Prophet (SAW) as they knew their own children through the books of the Bible and the Torah. When the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born into the world, some of them denied the prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) because he came from the Arab tribe and was an orphan. Even though they knew the truth and the reality, they deliberately concealed the truth.
People who have weak faith in God or rebellious spirits wait for the course of events according to their own reason. They want a prophet to emerge from among the people, a prophet, a king, a missionary, or the like, from the sons of people who have reached high worldly heights, or from the sons of people who have reached such heights. People's obedience to such people does not mean their obedience to the command of Allah. People's obedience to such people is obedience to such people either out of fear of such people or out of ambition for position and material things. Obedience to Allah means unconditional obedience to whomever Allah has revealed, no matter what, and obedience to Allah by those people.
Thus, although some among the Jews and Christians recognized Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as their own son, their feelings of selfish and worldly love made them despise Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) because he came from an Arab tribe, and they did not value him because he was an orphan, and in their pride, arrogance and greatness, they rebelled against the commands of Allah and deliberately denied the Prophet whom they knew to be the truth, as if in defiance of Allah. In this state they have become disbelievers. This is their inheritance from their ancestors, which they have been accustomed to since time immemorial. As we have explained in the previous verses, these are the people who are the recipients of the verse in which Allah (swt) says, "How similar their hearts have become to each other".
What is said in the video
Yes.
We come to Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 146.
Those to whom We gave the Book recognize the Prophet as they recognize their own sons. This is the verse. Even so, a group among them knowingly conceal the right and the truth. A group among them conceal the right and the truth. Why do they conceal it? Because of the importance they give to their own lineage, the value they give to their own tribe; since the Prophet did not come from their own tribe, they are those who denied him.
Between prophets at most two hundred years passed. Two hundred years.
Between the Prophet (peace be upon him) and Jesus, four hundred and some years passed. Four hundred. Never had the gap between prophets been so long. The Jews were afraid: is the Day of Judgment about to come? When will Allah Almighty send His prophet? They know. In the scripture they hold, in the Torah, in the Psalms and in the Gospel these are written. Written. Allah Almighty too says it about your Prophet (peace be upon him). Look, they recognize his attributes as they recognize their own sons. Again, they recognize him as they recognize their own sons, He says. Why? Because they are from the first-created soul of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
That is why they say, all the prophets: I am the first of Islam.
Those created from the soul of the Prophet. That is why they recognize and know the Prophet very well. Plus, the souls of the peoples too came from the souls of the prophets. In this case, those people knew from the books in their houses that the Prophet would come. When 400 years passed in between, they began to fear the Day of Judgment was coming. In the end, when the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), came as a mercy to the worlds, because he did not come from their own tribe, they denied the Prophet (peace be upon him). In fact their denial existed earlier. What does He say about earlier? Allah Almighty in His verse: Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Ehaze rabbüke min benî Âdeme zürriyyetehüm ve eşhedehüm alâ enfüsihim e lestü bi rabbiküm. (?) The whole matter ends here. Why? The matter ends here. We made a covenant with those who would appear from the offspring of the sons of Adam, He says. As those brainless ones wrote in the translation, in the translation: from Adam's offspring He brought out their loins, from their loins He brought out their offspring, they say. Are there loins here? Blessed men. How do you attribute qualities to Allah? He brought their offspring out of their loins and made a covenant with them. Now look at the reasoning, the reasoning. In the world, they say?
In the mother's womb? Or (?).
If you have Allah make a covenant with the child in the mother's womb, have you taken Allah so lightly that with a child unaware of himself you have Him make a covenant?
Well, did you see Allah in the world, that you say Allah Almighty, in the world, made a covenant too? You forget that too, and say it. Well, is there anything there about "from their loins"? What does it say? Look, He made a covenant. The Generous Lord's (?), your Lord, from whom? He made a covenant with Adam. What does zuhurihim say? This zuhuruhu, it says, will appear, appear, to the offspring, with those who would appear from Adam's offspring. Where? In the realm of Lahut He created the souls, sent Adam to the world, set up the human factory in our mother Eve, sent him; with those who would appear from his offspring, He says, with those who would appear, He made a covenant in the realm of Lahut, and us, enfüsihim, He says. Against their nafs and (?) I took as witness, He says.
I took as witness.
Those who know nothing of these, or who have not seen these realms, who do not know those places, even if they are the scholar of scholars, the learned of the learned, cannot give meaning to these verses. That is how they go astray. That is why we say they are sleepwalkers. They are unaware of themselves. I am saying it touching exactly on this point. They have not seen these realms, they do not know. They are unaware of themselves.
If they were aware of themselves, they would know what the spirit is. When that holy spirit came to Mary, Gabriel breathed, they say, Gabriel. If that is Gabriel, look, if it is Gabriel, I am speaking according to their words,
then did Gabriel and our mother Mary unite and this child came about, I would say. That is what I would say. And no one can prevent this. This is my reason. Allah does not count it as a sin for me. If so, if He sends him, if he is the spirit, if the spirit is Gabriel; but Gabriel is not the spirit. Allah Almighty: they ask you about the spirit; say, it is a command of Mine. Allah Almighty, who from a part of it beyond what your mind can grasp creates the souls of millions of people; since the whole spirit is His Self, you cannot comprehend it. I close that door. Because this small mind is not in a position to comprehend that.
The mind (?) there either.
That is why one must be careful with words. With words. Islamic websites, listen well. If you have set up your website, explain Islam well. Explain it well. Explain it well for the sake of Allah. Never turn to (?), do not put your finger where you have no knowledge. If your intention is to serve Islam, learn well. Truly learn.
Even so, a group among them knowingly concealed the right and the truth, He says. Who were they? The Jews. A group. Because he did not come from among them.
In the hands of the Jews and Christians to whom the Book was given were the Gospel and the Torah, and in the Gospel and the Torah the attributes of the Prophet were written. The Psalms likewise. In this case the People of the Book, those following the Book, were awaiting the coming of the Prophet. That is, the coming of the Prophet (peace be upon him); not because they knew him, they were waiting for a prophet to come. A prophet will come. Those whose lives were not long enough advised their children to follow the Prophet, and, generation telling generation, they awaited the prophet. One example, one example of it, one example of its being so, is the father of Abu Ayyub. Salman al-Farisi.
Huh? Salman al-Farisi. That one is separate. That is separate. Salman al-Farisi lived 500 years. Monks had told him of a prophet to come. He was sold as a slave, as a captive. And finally, until the Prophet (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty gave him a life, and he saw the Prophet (peace be upon him); he is a companion. This Salman al-Farisi was the son of the king on the throne of the Persian Magians; he left there and went out. Then, in the Battle of the Trench, at the Prophet's consultation, the one who said let us dig a trench was this honoured person. This is separate. And also, advising one another, the father of Abu Ayyub: (?) perhaps I will not see him; this trust, to the Prophet (peace be upon him), if you see him, give it.
If you cannot see him, give it to your son, he says. And he puts it in a chest. Abu Ayyub.
When the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to Medina the Radiant, he stayed as a guest in the house of Abu Ayyub. As they sit and talk, O (?), bring your father's trust, he says. He takes it out of the chest and brings it. His father says, accept me too into your ummah. And I have accepted you into my ummah, he says. Though he had never seen him. Yes, I believed in you, I believed in you, he says, I have faith in you, I know you will come too, accept me into your ummah, he says.
This is one of the miracles of the Prophet (peace be upon him). So 400 years had passed in between; after those 400 years, when the Prophet came, purely out of their obstinacy and their arrogance and pride, because he was not of their own people, they turned their backs on the Prophet (peace be upon him).
What did we say? Those whose lives were not long enough advised their children to follow the Prophet, and, generation telling generation, they awaited the prophet. Every generation, with the Gospel and Torah in their hands, as they recognize their own children, recognized the Prophet (peace be upon him). Because they recognized the Prophet's attributes, recognized his attributes, with the coming of Muhammad (peace be upon him) into the world, some groups among them, because the prophet came from the Arab people and was an orphan, denied the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him). Though they knew the right and the truth, they knowingly locked the truth away.
Of all people, was prophethood left to Abu Talib's orphan? they said. Yes. If it had come to so-and-so, he has property and wealth. They have property and wealth. Allah Almighty, pay attention, none of all the prophets He sent was wealthy. Moses? His mother threw him into the Nile. As a miracle, He had him nursed in the king's palace, in the hands of his enemy. He had him nursed in the hands of his enemy. And finally, by killing the Copt, he left there too and went away. Alone, that is. Abraham? His father was an idolater; he too left (?) and went away. He left his father, left his homeland, and went away.
Lot? His uncle's son. Abraham being thrown into the fire by Nimrod. Sir, Jesus? Putting (?) and killing them, the one made to resemble him, saying I killed him, Allah Almighty in His verse, their killing the one He made resemble him. His raising him to the sky. Muhammad (peace be upon him)? Look, he too was fatherless, an orphan. He raised none of them wealthy. He made none of them wealthy. Do you know why? Lest they follow him for their interests because he is wealthy,
and people turn their coats, turn their coats. But those who follow him with the clothes on their backs, with the food they eat each day, follow him out of their faith. Now, they say that the one sent as a mercy to the worlds, the Prophet (peace be upon him), was poor, they say, was poor. No prophet, as long as he is with Allah, is poor. If He wills, Allah gives him, that servant of His, whatever He wills, whenever He wills. One day Moses says, O my Lord, I have no one. Allah Almighty, Kelamullah: can someone who is with his Lord be without anyone, He says. Again one day, when he says I am alone: can someone who is with his Lord be alone, He says.
They say of the Prophet (peace be upon him) too that he was poor. And there is a couplet of his. They pin that couplet on poverty too. What is that couplet? El-fakru fahrî, el-fakru fahrî; didn't he, the pride of the worlds, say it? Remember your faqr, remember your faqr. This heart of mine found faqr and fana.
In Arabic the poor one is miskin, miskin. Someone without property or wealth. The meaning of faqr here: if this whole universe had become that person's, that person's, if Allah had given this universe, these created things, to that person, he knows they have an owner. According to a verse of Allah, the inheritance of the heavens and the earth is Allah's; he strips himself of these. He even knows that his own body was created by Him. He gives that up too. If he also surrenders his soul to his Lord, he reaches la mevcude illallah, and that is purity. Pure.
It is such a pure one. Those poor, faqr, poor, what does it say? Remember your faqr. Which poverty? Not destitution, it says, not destitution; with your faith remember this trust of yours in your Lord, it says, and only on this path, which is the straight path, sirat al-mustaqim, by remembering your Lord do you attain peace and gain your Lord's mercy, it says. That is "remember your faqr". That is, remember that faith of yours, remember that Lord of yours, it says. Hey, man! Those who don't know what is what. Yes.
Among people, those whose faith in Allah is weak or who have rebellious spirits expect the flow of events according to their own minds. Yes. That is, the prophet will be wealthy, they will benefit from him, they will make the prophet do whatever they say, and they will live in the whims of the nafs. Like that. From the sons of a prophet who will arise among people, of a king, of a missionary, or of similar esteemed persons who have reached high worldly ranks, or from people in these ranks, they want the prophet to come. They will be wary of them, they will fear them, or else they will benefit from them; because they have interests in them, the prophet will be from them, they say.
What does Allah Almighty say? If We willed, We would have created you a single nation. He gives man such value that man is created free within his own will, free. No one exercises either despotism or oppression over him. Not even Allah. Allah leaves his will free too. In the end, in return for the value He gave, though they know their Creator, though they know a Lord created me, an Allah created me, people who turn their backs on the One who created them and await the Lord of their imagination and set out to take revenge on Allah: think of the whims of their nafs. God protect us. This is what people were waiting for.
Yet Allah Almighty adorns us. With angels too, He says, We would have lowered you from the clouds, and you would have prostrated, He says. So look at the value Allah gives people. In no way does He let people look at great wealth, at pride, at lineage, at ancestry, at riches, at anything; to use their own will He commands them. Their will. But, but people, since they had their own aims written for them as destiny, alongside embracing Allah, embrace their worldly interests and expect the prophet to be one of the people who have attained high ranks.
People following such people does not mean they follow Allah's (?). People obey such people either because they fear them or out of a person's greed for position and wealth. Obedience to Allah, however: their obeying unconditionally whomever Allah has made known, whoever he may be, is those persons' obedience to Allah. So some groups among the Jews and Christians, though they recognized Muhammad as their own children, their selfish and worldly feelings of love, faced with Muhammad coming from the Arab people, looked down on him. And because of his being an orphan, not valuing him, with the pride, arrogance and grandeur of their wealth, they rebelled against Allah's commands and knowingly denied the prophet they knew to be true, as if challenging Allah.
In this state they became unbelievers. These states of theirs are a long-customary inheritance from their forefathers. Whenever Allah Almighty sends a prophet, you are only a sorcerer, they say. Or else: then show us a miracle, they say. At most you are a liar, they say. That is what they said to the prophets. As we explained in the verses we passed, they are people subject to the verse in which Allah Almighty says their hearts too resembled one another, we said.
