They ask you about crescents, say: they are measures of time for people and for hajj (pilgrimage). Good behavior is not to enter your houses from the back, but good behavior is (the action of) a person abstaining. Enter houses from their doors; fear Allah so that you will find salvation.
Tafsir
In the early days of Islam, the Companions used to ask the Prophet about the crescent moon. That is why this verse was revealed. The first, second and third days of the month are called crescents. The days after that are called the moon, or kamer in Arabic. This is to understand the months of Hajj, to determine the times, to understand the days, as this verse means.
Because of Allah's greatness and power, the infinitude of His knowledge, and in order for His existence to be publicly known, He created the earth, sun and moon system in a measured manner and put them at the service of human beings. Although the sun, the earth and the lunar system and all the vegetation and animals have come to life, how were they given to the service of human beings? Allah (swt) has created human beings as the equal of creation. That is, they were created as the most honorable of all creatures. Humans were also created as the caliph of the earth. If human beings are the khalifah of the earth, then all created beings are at the disposal of human beings, and in this respect, all vegetation and animal life, the earth, the sun and the moon serve human beings. All these beings prove the existence of Allah openly and manifestly.
(The good behavior is never that you enter your houses from behind. But good behavior is the behavior of one who is protected.) The Arabs traditionally considered it good luck to enter houses through back doors. They would open a culvert or a hole in the back of the buildings and enter them secretly. Since such behavior would lead to misconception in the beliefs of people who live Islam and attach great importance to family ties, Allah has abolished such behavior with this verse. He says, "Enter your houses through their doors. By saying this, he is also telling them not to give importance to superstition, that no one can change what Allah (swt) has ordained for man's sustenance, and that they should strengthen their ties to Allah and their trust in Him.
(Fear Allah so that you may prosper.) Allah (swt) mentions this verse in many places. Allah (swt) never says that if you do this, you will be in Paradise. He wants to say something to the people with these verses: "So that you may attain mercy, so that you may be saved". O people! Even if you have spent your life in this way, following the bright and correct path I have shown you, submitting your heart to your Lord faithfully, doing your deeds sincerely and for the sake of Allah, do not let the devil make your deeds look fancy to you, give your nafs a desire and say, I have spent my life obeying Allah, of course I will enter Paradise. Otherwise, you will be deciding instead of Allah (swt) and you will enter shirk. The melunda did not stop worshipping Allah, and in the end he rebelled against Allah and was expelled from the Presence of Allah. When you spend your life in such obedience until the last breath, when you go with faith, you will win Paradise. Otherwise, since people do not know how they will go in the last breath, Allah (swt) uses the word Ta'ki to them. Don't let your evil deeds make you despair. (The meaning of Ta'ki is that people who live among you as non-Muslims or sinners are given an opportunity of time according to their covenant. Do not decide on your own and say, "I am going to hell," because there is no hope in Allah and Allah is Tawwab, the Most Accepting of repentance. Therefore, only the disbelievers despair of Allah. Why do the disbelievers despair of Allah? Because they do not obey Allah, they cannot compromise their own selves, so they do not turn to Allah, because they do not do what Allah says.
So if the good deeds and good deeds we have done have brought us to the last breath as believers, then we will be saved. If it didn't benefit us, then God knows what we are like.
What is said in the video
They ask you about the crescents, it says. That is, they ask you about the months. Crescents, the moon. Don't we also call the moon in the sky hilal? In Arabic, the moon. They ask you about the months. Say: they are measures of time for people and for Hajj, measures. That is, which day of the month, which month of the year, there are twelve months, aren't there; for people what does it say? Measures of time; when you say measure of time, every hour of the day, the days of the month. Sir, in this way Allah Almighty, since He does not intend injustice for people, in the sky the qamar, the qamar we call the moon, He has set up the lunar calendar.
He has set up the lunar calendar. In this case, from time to time the moon, that crescent shape we call it, first day, second day, third day, fourth day, on the first day (?) in the shape of a line, on the second day a somewhat wider shape, on the third day wider, on the fourth day wider, and so on, that half moon, you look, and it becomes a full moon. Exactly the fourteenth of the month, it says. You know, the fourteenth of the month, the fifteenth of the day. Sir, after that the moon starts to shrink again, becomes lopsided, shrinking and shrinking the moon disappears, then again it comes out, again the first day.
So Allah Almighty has set up the lunar system in the sky, the moon system, the calendar.
Good conduct is never that you come into your houses from the back, it says. Good conduct is not coming in from the backs of the house, it is not. Why? It has many drawbacks. Let's say the house has two doors. One from the garden door, at the back. Enter the house through its (?) front door. Because through the back door either thieves, or other people, that is, people who will commit sin, come and go this way. If you too come and go this way, perhaps you will bring bad (?) upon your wife at home. What would they say? In the darkness of the night one can't make him out; if you came from the back, what would they say?
Oh, look at so-and-so's wife, someone else is approaching, they would say. So Allah Almighty prevents all evils. Or from there they would take you for a thief. They would take you for a thief. What would happen? Your neighbour, to protect you, might fire a gun at you. You would be wounded. He doesn't recognise you. That is, Allah Almighty protects us from every kind of evil.
Sir, but good conduct is the conduct of the one who guards himself. That is, the conduct of those who, without going against their Lord's command, are governed by His command. Enter houses through their doors. That is, always. Wherever you enter from, enter from there. Fear Allah. It is hoped that you will attain salvation, it says. We didn't change this part. So that you attain salvation. When we say it is hoped, we need to correct this part. Say that in the, um, thing.
Let's write verse 189. How, have we changed it? We'll look at it. 189. We are changing these. When it says it is hoped, it's as if Allah doesn't know and it is hoped. So that, that is, there is no longer an equivalent for this verse, that is, those among you who will be saved, so that those people, so that, that is, those so-thats, they will be saved, they are saved. Yes, so that you attain salvation. That is, those people among you attain salvation when they do what I say.
In the early days of Islam, the Companions used to ask the Prophet about the crescent shapes of the moon. Crescent. As I explained a moment ago: a thin line, second, third, like this up to the fourteenth. Sir, this verse was revealed for this. The first, second and third days of the month are called hilal. The first and second, the third days. Those that are one, two, three thin lines. If the moon is followed continuously, from familiarity of the eye you see its first, second, third days. You even count four, five, six, seven, eight, I mean. From familiarity of the eye. Of course. For example, in Arabia the sky is always clear.
Always. At night, the nights I stayed in Arabia, the many nights I stayed, I always see the moon, I mean. Clear weather. That is, there, even if a person doesn't want to, even unwillingly, the crescent shapes of the moon, that is, the shapes, he can calculate.
For the days after that, the moon, that is, in Arabic is called qamar; as this verse means, it is for understanding the months of Hajj, determining times, understanding days, it says. Yes.
So that the greatness and power of Allah Almighty, the infinity of His knowledge, His existence be known openly, manifestly, He created the system of the earth, sun and moon in measure and put it at people's service. What He means by in measure: they neither come closer to each other nor move away. While spinning around their own axes they produce night and day, and by travelling around the sun, the seasons. For years, for centuries, since the founding of the world, they keep turning in the same way. Neither forward nor back. That is in measure. With exact proportion. This is a very deep meaning.
The world turning around its own axis in 24 hours, neither a second ahead nor a second behind; only because we pierced the ozone layer with our own hands and erased with our own hands the magnetism Allah placed on the earth, has the world's deficient rotation begun. So within a time before the Day of Judgement, with the Earth's rotation around its own axis decreasing, the sun setting in the west and rising from the west, that is, the Earth turning back again at the zero point, will come about. There are many meanings in in measure as well. In one sense, the millimetric calculations of the magnetism of the North Pole and the South Pole.
With the millimetric calculation of those masses weighing unimaginable tons, perhaps trillions of tons, and that the mountains He placed on the world are just like a piano, like the strings of a piano, like the keys of a piano, and that the world, while turning around its own axis, makes a very beautiful harmony and sound. And this is that sound in Mevlana's reed flute.
This, our Lord's, as we pass over it with in measure, sir, creation.
What do we say? He created the sun, earth and moon system in measure and put it at people's service, we say. Of course, if we tried to elaborate this further, it would not even fit in a book, the, um, wouldn't end, I mean. The meanings of the verses don't end either, they truly don't end. That is why we say that and move on here. Although all plants and animals find life through the sun, earth and moon system, how have they been given to people's command? They. Allah Almighty created people as the noblest of creatures. That is, they were created as the most honourable of created things. At the same time, people were created in the position of vicegerent of the earth.
So if created people are the vicegerents of the earth, then all created beings are at people's command; for this reason all plants and animals, the earth, the sun and the moon serve humans. All these beings openly and manifestly prove the existence of Allah.
Not a single particle comes into being by itself.
Those scholars state a saying. Nothing passes from existence into nothing, nor comes from nothing into existence, they say. Nor comes from nothing into existence.
But this belongs only to the Creator. It will not pass from existence into nothing. Because He will create again. Nor comes from nothing into existence. He created it as existing. He created it from nothing as existing. From now on He creates nothing further, they say. (?). From now on He creates nothing further. Why does He not create?
Allah Almighty created the world, this universe, without any deficiency, He created it. Since He says, with you there is a book preserved in the Lawh al-Mahfuz, at the end of which there is neither addition nor reduction made. He has created all His creatures, those who will come until the Day of Judgement, those to be created in the future, those in the future too. From their (?), from their seeds He created them, set up the order; it is called the cycle. But, come and see, the enemies of Allah, the enemies of religion, those who claim they came from animals,
by animals changing shape, this animal turned into this shape, this monkey turned into this human, saying so,
what kind of scholar is that? An unjust one, of course. What does it say now in a word of a verse? The Quran increases the faith of the believer and the disbelief of the disbeliever, it says. And this one has done scholarship backwards. Just as it increases the disbeliever's disbelief, in his scholarship too it increases its opposite, his disbelief, his ignorance. A scholar is conscious. What is its opposite? Ignorance. He is not a scholar, he increases his ignorance. Just like the seeds of the Abu Jahls, they appear in every age.
Would a person who is a scholar ever say, this comes from that, that comes from this? Today, that genes, genetics do not change, that they cannot change them, and when they penetrate deeply into them, those within the atomic nuclei, the secrets of the genes' bonding with one another they still cannot solve. And changing their structures is also not possible. If changing their structures is not possible, and technology can't find this, then how does this structure change by itself, so that the creature turns into another shape?
If that creature turns into another shape,
people have continued since Adam. Always human. Adam was human too. Well, did humans after Adam become animals, and then did this animal become human? That is, did it change shape? Well, if that animal changed shape until now, then in this time, from that much time to this much time, can't a human by chance change shape? Or can't another animal change into another shape? Or, if the plants untouched by human hand continue their (?), if they continue their own kind, can you show me a plant that has gone outside its own kind and turned into another shape? Can you? No. In this case, so it is these pitiful people, because of their rebellion against Allah Almighty, dragging themselves into ignorance.
All these created beings prove the existence of Allah. What does Allah Almighty say? Zahiren mezahir. Abdülkadir: zahiren mezahir. What is mezahir? Outwardly, as you see Me, He says. Mezahir, His existence. His existence.
He who is unseen is hidden from the eye. That is, He is veiled.
There are some deep matters here. Zahiren, mezahir. I am manifest. But if He has manifestation in me, He is openly manifest, it says. In my heart. In my heart. Manifest. Apart from that, in the journeying of many worlds, in correspondence to the verses, My existence scholars and angels bear witness to, it says. To Allah's existence. So, zahir (?) zahir. We did not take Satan and his companions as witnesses to Ourselves when creating these worlds. The zahir mezahir of the verse in which He says this: the existence of their Lord in those people. That these worlds were created by Allah.
Everything proves it. What have we said anyway?
All these beings openly, manifestly prove the existence of Allah.
However much of a scholar you may be.
Have you been able to create a single particle?
Have you been able to create a single particle from nothing? No. You say the created things changed shape. The created things. That one came into that shape, this one came into this shape. You do research. You are a scholar; that one was an animal, and you are human. When, as a result of this research of yours, you see that those created beings changed shape, although you know that from that time to this time, within this technology, no created being has been able to create a single particle, how do you deny that the Creator of these is Allah?
So these are not scholars, they are the foremost of the ignorant, the seeds of the Abu Jahls, those who deny Allah, those who alter the verses.
Good conduct is never that you come into your houses through their back doors, it says.
But good conduct is the conduct of the one who guards himself. Look how beautiful. What does the Prophet (peace be upon him) say? Beware of suspicions.
Except a little suspicion, he says. Why is a little excepted? With it you can protect your faith in the religion of Islam. If this is so, it leads to such a disaster. You prevent that. But too much of it, with Satan's temptation, steers you to make unjust judgements about it. Yes, what is it? Good conduct is never that you come into your houses from the back, it is not. But good conduct is the conduct of the one who guards himself. The Arabs, by tradition, considered entering houses through back doors good luck, good luck. You see, falsehood, ignorance, every kind of unrest and strife will arise, won't it?
They would open a vent or a hole at the back of buildings and enter the buildings secretly this way. Since such actions would lead to suspicion in the beliefs of people who live Islam and attach great importance to family bonds, Allah Almighty abolished such behaviour with this verse. I explained this part to you a moment ago. Yes, no need to explain it again.
Enter your houses through their doors, He declares. By saying this, that they should not give importance to false beliefs, that is, not from Allah, but if he enters through that door, he considers it good luck. You know they also worship idols; well, how does idol worship come about? There are those who take a mascot in hand and say, this is my good luck. Even among Muslims, this is my good luck, they say. What good luck does this have for you? What is this? Hundreds, thousands of goods made by human hands, thinking it may bring you luck, luck, one thinks, and that the other brings harm. Tomorrow, when a disaster befalls you, did that bring the disaster upon you?
Well, when some good touches you, did that bring you this good? It neither benefits itself nor is aware of itself; like you, if you take the intellect of Allah Almighty, who equipped you with intellect, to poverty, take it to nothingness, and produce what is unaware of itself as your good luck and carry it on you, when you are compared with an intelligent person, do you know where you have hidden your intellect? Where did you hide this intellect, while you call yourself intelligent? And you forget your Lord, you attach yourself to it. It too is matter your Lord created, but unaware of itself. In this case, if you take it in hand as your good luck, then in false beliefs, so that one does not enter through back doors, through those vents, Allah Almighty, so that they know that everything is from Allah, that good and evil are from Allah, that they know they came to this world for a test, and as proof that their sustenance is given by their Lord, Allah Almighty abolishes these.
Those so-called luck things. Yes.
Allah Almighty abolished such behaviour with this verse. Enter your houses through their doors, He declares. By saying this, that they should not give importance to false beliefs, that whatever Allah Almighty has decreed for a person as sustenance no one can change, and that their bonds to Allah and their trust in Him be strengthened, He has also commanded. He is having them abolished, having those beliefs abolished.
Here we haven't made a few corrections. To these, sir, yes. Fear Allah, so that you attain salvation. Allah Almighty mentions this verse in many verses, in many places. Allah Almighty never says, if you do this, you are destined for Paradise. What does He say? So that you attain salvation. Yes.
So that you attain salvation. With His verses He wants to tell people something. What does He say? O people! Even if you proceed on the bright and right path I have shown you, surrendering your heart with loyalty to your Lord, doing your deeds sincerely and for Allah, and spend your life in this way, never let Satan make your deeds look adorned to you, let him fill your nafs with whims, and say, I spent my life always obeying Allah. Of course I will go to Paradise, do not say this.
So that you are saved. Yes.
Otherwise you would be deciding in Allah Almighty's place, so that you fall into shirk. The accursed one, too, did not fall behind in worshipping Allah. In the end he rebelled against Allah and was driven out of the divine presence. So when Allah Almighty says so that, if you spend your life until your last breath obedient like this, when you depart like this with faith, if you win Paradise, you win it. Otherwise, since people do not know how they will depart at the last breath, Allah Almighty uses the word so that for them. Nor let the evils you did drive you into despair. So that you do not decide on your own.
Yes. Let's correct this part.
Let's put that part there like this. Yes.
So that you do not decide on your own and say, I am destined for Hell. Because hope in Allah is never cut off, and Allah is al-Tawwab, the One who accepts repentance abundantly. For this reason only disbelievers give up hope in Allah. For the disbelievers, their hope in Allah, the disbelievers (?). Why do they give up hope in Allah? Because they do not obey Allah. They make no concessions from their own nafs. For this reason, since they do not do what Allah says, they do not turn to Allah, that is why. So if the good deeds and kindnesses we did take us at the last breath with faith, we attain salvation.
Otherwise, if they brought us no benefit, then our state is, Allah knows best, we have said.
