Fight against them until instigation is completely erased and until religion is only for Allah. If they quit, hostility is only against oppressors.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) does not say with the verse, "Fight", that you fight people to oppress them or to kill them unjustly. On the contrary, prevent people who commit such injustice and kill people for no reason. Prevent fitnah, because fitnah is an unstoppable ambition on earth, which is bloodshed. Therefore, fight them until you have eliminated sedition and the religion is Allah's. When the Fitnah is eliminated and the religion is Allah's alone, the religion of Islam, which is the truth, will prevail, and no one will be oppressed in the religion of Islam, which is the epitome of justice. Muslims are brothers and sisters in Islam. The lives, blood and honor of those who are brothers are forbidden to each other. This is what is meant by fighting them until the religion is Allah's: Be you brothers in the earth. Never hurt one another, for the earth is wide and sufficient for you all. Surrender to Allah, the Giver of sustenance, and you will find salvation.
If the other side has not accepted Islam but has given up the fight, then do not fight them again. Because Allah (swt) says that war is only against the wrongdoers.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 193: Until fitna is wiped out completely and religion is for Allah alone, fight them. If they desist, hostility is only against the wrongdoers.
With the verse on fighting, Allah Almighty does not say: to oppress people or to kill people unjustly, kill them in war. He would not. So, on the contrary: those who do such injustice, who take human life without reason — stop those people, prevent fitna. For fitna, bathing people on earth in blood, is an unstoppable craving.
Preventing fitna is, for that person too, a mercy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) says in his hadiths: help the oppressed and help the oppressor too. The Companions say: O Messenger of Allah, let us help the oppressed, they say. How shall we help the oppressor? Preventing their evil is helping the oppressor, he says. Preventing his evil. So, removing that fitna means preventing the evil of that person who would (?) people against one another. That too is a help to him. That too is a help to him. For fitna, bathing people on earth in blood, is an unstoppable craving. So in this case, until you remove fitna and until religion is Allah's, fight them.
Fight until religion is Allah's. With fitna removed and religion being Allah's alone, the true religion of Islam will maintain its rule; in Islam, the very image of justice, no one will be oppressed. So Allah Almighty, whoever they may be on earth, the people He created — in a festive atmosphere He commands them to live. If fitna is removed, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, whoever it is, throughout his life he will live in peace. That is, he will live, in a way, safe from death. Because fitna has been removed. A person now knows that these act with fairness, that to people they do no wrong, so they are trustworthy people.
Even though they did not believe in the Prophet, they called him Muhammad al-Amin. That is, they believed what he said, as a trustworthy person.
Yes, with fitna removed and religion being Allah's alone, the true religion of Islam will maintain its rule; in Islam, the very image of justice, no one will be oppressed. In Islam, Muslims are brothers of one another.
Brothers — the lives, blood and honour of those who are brothers are forbidden to one another. A brother's honour, life and blood are forbidden to his brother. So what is meant by fighting them until religion is Allah's: you on earth, be brothers. Be brothers, and that non-Muslim too — since you cannot know what is in his destiny, invite him too to the religion of Islam, invite him, yes, until religion is Allah's, what is meant by fighting them: you be brothers on earth, never hurt one another, for the earth is wide, enough for all of you. Submit to Allah who gives sustenance, so that you find salvation, He says.
Yes. Until religion is Allah's. There are many meanings here.
Why did Allah Almighty create people? He created them so that His essence would be known. In that realm of Lahut, people were divided into three groups. The people of the right, the people of the left, and the group of the foremost (sabiqun). In this case Allah Almighty, so that people, within their destinies, can prove themselves, sends them to the world, to the realm of Mulk, to an unseen world. So in this unseen world, these people whom Allah Almighty created so that His essence would be known — until religion is Allah's, that is, until you maintain your rule over them and until you entrust the truth to them, ruling them with justice, until you place Allah's existence in their heads, fight them.
Show them the right path. Until religion is Allah's, He says. Although these are not ones who will turn back from the covenant they gave. But by saying until religion is Allah's, that Islam's rule on earth be maintained is what Allah Almighty commands. Today the unbelievers maintain this, this rule. Yes. If the other side did not accept Islam but also gave up fighting, then do not engage in war with them again. For Allah Almighty says that war is only against the wrongdoers. Yes.
