Al-Baqarah 230: If the man divorces the woman (for the third time), she is not permissible for him unless she has married another man. If this person also divorces her, then there is no objection for them to remarry as long as they believe that they will be able to keep the borders of Allah. These are Allah’s borders. Tafsir
If a man uses his nikah right of three divorces, he cannot marry the woman he divorced until she goes to another husband of her own free will and he divorces her. However, if the man she married also divorces her, and the man she first divorced suits her and she returns to her first husband of her own free will, there is nothing wrong with their marriage. This is also conditional.
(There is nothing wrong with them remarrying if they believe that they can maintain the limits of Allah). That is to say, if they decide not to return to the old incompatibilities, to respect human rights and laws, to protect human dignity and honor, and to love each other, they are allowed to marry. Otherwise, since there is no end to marriages for worldly interests and mutual benefits, such marriages are not permitted because they would exceed the limits of Allah. Because behind such marriages there is torment, there is oppression. Allah does not love cruel people.
(These are the boundaries of Allah.) That is to say, the boundaries of His laws which protect the honor and dignity of people and strengthen their family ties so that they will not suffer any hardship in life.
Who wants their lovingly married wife to be divorced by her husband and go to another man, and when she is divorced by the other man, she is taken back by the man she first married in love? One cannot easily fit this in one's honor and dignity. Allah's laws are a deterrent. He shows us with His Verses how much He values human beings. He sets laws so that their hearts are not hurt, so that no one persecutes or insults anyone, so that they help raise the children entrusted to their care. Those sons should not be victimized.
(These are Allah's revealed judgments for a people who want to understand them.) If people like their intellect and live according to their intellect, they will regret a lot and fall into the abyss of no return. Since Allah, who created us, knows how to reform us, He appeals to people's conscience and commands them to act more sensitively. In this respect, He teaches us what we do not know. It provides us with life and illuminates our paths.
Why Allah appeals to consciences; Allah the Creator has sent us into the realm of property to bear witness to Allah. People who believe and have faith fear Allah. But people who do not believe also fear the laws of the state. People who fear Allah apply Allah's laws even where there are no laws, out of conscience, out of fear of Allah. But people who fear the laws of the state act in the interests of their minds and ego where no one can see them. These are the people who are cruel to their souls. They are self-interested and hard-hearted. In this respect, Allah (swt) is addressing human consciences.
The hearts of people who have faith and trust in Allah are soft and compassionate. They are respectful of the verses of Allah (swt). Since Allah does not intend injustice to the worlds, these people know that when they commit injustice, Allah will one day ask us for what we have done.
This is where Allah's greatness is manifested. He leaves His creation alone with its will. In order that people may find the truth within their own will. In order that people may rule with justice on earth, Allah (swt) reveals His laws in such a way as to give life to people in a clear way. These are Allah's laws for the people who understand these verses. And if you show all the verses of the Qur'an as miracles to people who do not believe, they will still not believe. Because that is how their nature, their destiny, is written.
What is said in the video
We have come to the (?) verse. Verse 230. If a man divorces the woman for the third time, then, unless the woman marries another man, taking her back is not lawful for him; it is forbidden to him. People who act in this way, because they overstep Allah's limits, are people who are very unjust to their own selves. They are people who do not heed Allah's command, who live within their own selfish feelings and deify their own selves. If a man uses all three rights of divorce that come with the marriage — we said there are three spiritual bonds, didn't we — here the man holds all three of them. What did we say? If a man uses all three rights of divorce that come with the marriage, unless the woman he divorced goes of her own will to another husband and the man she married also divorces her, he cannot marry the woman he divorced.
But if the man she married also divorces this woman, and the man who first divorced her seeks his wife's hand, and the woman returns to the husband who first divorced her of her own consent, there is no harm in their marrying. And this depends on a condition.
What is its condition? If they believe they can keep Allah's limits, there is no harm in their marrying again. That is the condition. If they believe they can keep Allah's limits. That is, if they decide not to return to the old discord, to respect human rights and law, to protect human honor, dignity and self-respect, and not to fall short in love toward each other, they are permitted to marry.
Otherwise, since marriages made for worldly gain and mutual interests have no future, and since such people will overstep Allah's limits, such a marriage is not permitted. What does he do? The woman has property. The man wants to deceive the woman again and take her property from her.
And he uses all kinds of crafty words on her. And the woman falls for it. Then she sees that her property has gone, bit by bit. Then he has left the woman in the lurch again. Or let us think of the reverse. The woman will treat her husband the same way. Knowing he has wealth and property, she will approach him with all kinds of tricks. And in the end, after using him for her own ends, she will leave him in the lurch. These are the situations that will overstep Allah's limits. Such marriages have no future. If such marriages are to be made, they are not permitted.
Moreover, behind this marriage there is torment, there is injustice. Allah does not love unjust people.
These things said here (?) are Allah's limits. That is, they are the limits of His laws that will protect people's honor and dignity and, so that they meet no hardship while living, strengthen family ties — the limits of His laws. Yes, the woman and the man must observe these very carefully. They must behave respectfully toward each other. They must. Respectfully. Who would want the woman they married out of love to be divorced by her husband, and this woman to go to another man, and when this woman is divorced from that other man too, the man she first married to take her back lovingly?
This weighs very heavily on a person. So what does this mean? Knowingly handing one's wife over to another man. And then taking back the wife he handed over. May Allah protect us.
Such a very grave situation this is. Allah Almighty making this grave situation so heavy for people, for people with religion and faith, is to protect the woman's chastity. It is Allah Almighty protecting her honor. Yes. Allah Almighty's laws are deterrent. This is a deterrent law. With His verses He (?) us how much He values people. Allah Almighty. So that their hearts are not hurt, He sets His laws, so that no one wrongs anyone, nor are insults made, so that they help in raising the children entrusted to them. So that those children are not wronged. So that those trusts grow up with kind compassion and mercy.
When hearths of compassion and mercy smoke in their hearts, then evil never comes forth from them. If one lives as his mind shows him, he suffers much regret, and they tumble into abysses they cannot see.
Since Allah who created us knows how we will be reformed, Allah addresses people's consciences and commands them to behave with more feeling. In this respect He teaches us what we do not know, gives us life and lights our paths. In this case, what happens? If He lights our path, we live with honor. We will have kept the dignity of being human. Otherwise, as our Lord says, they, He says, are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth, He says. From this state we are saved. We are saved from that four-legged state. Yes.
Why did we say Allah Almighty addresses consciences? Allah the Creator, so that we make ourselves witnesses to Allah, to the world of possession sent us. People who believe and have faith fear Allah. But people who do not believe fear the laws of states.
People who fear Allah, even where there are no laws, because they fear Allah in their conscience, put Allah's laws into practice. How beautiful. You cannot post a guard over every person. Yes, but people who fear the laws of states, in places where no one sees them, act in pursuit of the interest that their minds and selves show them. These are people who are unjust to their own selves. These are self-seeking people with hard hearts. Yes, so why does Allah Almighty address hearts, consciences? You cannot post a guard over every person. But the fear of Allah is a guard over every person. That faith and that obedience to Allah, that fear of his Lord, is the person's guard.
But those who do not fear their Lord, who do not observe His laws, commit every kind of evil where people cannot see them. And they commit injustice both against people and against their own selves.
The hearts of people who have faith, believe in Allah and trust in Him are soft and merciful. They are respectful toward the verses of Allah Almighty. Yes, since Allah does not intend injustice to the worlds, these people know that when they do wrong, Allah will one day ask us about what we did. On which day will He ask? On the Day of Resurrection, at the Supreme Court, He will ask us. What does He say in the verse? Every soul will taste death, and in the end your return is to Allah. So says Allah Almighty in the verse.
Here Allah's exaltedness becomes manifest, His greatness. Think of a state, the strongest and mightiest state on earth, one that hangs and cuts as it pleases, a state like that: can it rule over all its subjects? That state can only establish the validity of its laws over people through those people's own behavior among themselves, and they, those people, where they cannot see one another, commit every kind of evil they commit. But a person in the universe who has been honored with the light of Islam, mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions, turned to piety and fearing his Lord — there is no need at all to post a guard over him.
This is the greatness of our Lord. By the Creator's command to the created, the created one's devotion and respect toward his Lord, his love and fear of Him, prevent him from doing evil. It prevents a person from being unjust, from being unjust to his own self.
They are respectful toward the verses of Allah Almighty. Since Allah does not intend injustice to the worlds, these people know that when they do wrong, Allah will one day, about what we did, ask us. Here Allah's exaltedness becomes manifest. He leaves His creatures alone with their free will. So that people find the truth within their own will. By their own will. Without exposing them to anyone's pressure, oppression or tyranny, within their own free thought, for people to find their own Creator He waits. That is how He commands.
So that people judge with justice on earth, Allah Almighty thus clearly makes His laws known to people in a way that grants them life. Since He sent people to a (?) world, in this (?) world Allah Almighty, how these people will behave, and how, if they behave, it will please their Creator, please their Creator, that is, please their Lord, He makes known to people with His verses. These are Allah's rulings for a people who understand. For those who understand: one day your return is to your Lord. Sir, the end of everything will surely be returned to Allah. And at last the Supreme Court will be set up.
On the Day of Resurrection the Hour will strike, and at last the Supreme Court will be set up. There, with no soul being wronged in any way, every soul will see the return of what it has earned. Those who believe and have faith in this, before they migrate from this world to the hereafter, act with that place in mind. These are Allah's rulings for a people who understand. Even if you showed people who do not believe all the verses of the Quran as miracles, they still would not believe. Because their natures, that is, their destinies, they have had written that way.
