If you divorce the women you have married before touching them or before specifying a mahr (bridal money given to the bride), there is no obligation upon you to pay them a mahr. In this case, give to them (from what is considered to be a present). The wealthy according to their power and the poor according to their power. Offering an appropriate goodness is an obligation upon the muhsineen (those who commit the best of acts).

Tafsir

If a man marries a woman and does not set a certain amount of mahr and divorces her without touching her, i.e. without having intercourse with her, there is no obligation for mahr. In return, the woman is given a mut'a. (The equivalent of a mut'a is one layer of clothing.) The rich pay it according to their wealth and the poor pay it according to their wealth. It is a debt that Allah has placed on good people. This strengthens the bonds of love and dialog between people.

Allah (swt) declares that the giving of mut'ah is an obligation on the righteous. Those who believe, those who love Allah, these are the pious. They enjoy the pleasure of giving to people and helping them. Who does not want to be among the group of those whom Allah calls the good?

These people, because they know Allah with certainty, continue to obey and worship Allah to the best of their ability to fulfill what Allah says in the realm of property. They send their sustenance to the Hereafter in advance. They also set good examples for people.

Islam is a religion that places great value on human rights and law. Allah (swt), who created man as a fellow creature, has valued human beings above all His creatures. He has given all the necessary laws to prevent people from harboring animosity against each other in their dealings with each other. Those who go beyond these are those who do not recognize the laws of Allah. They will not be spared from hardship and suffering. Allah, Who does not intend cruelty to people, has made His laws clear so that people can live their lives in the best way possible. Therefore, if you marry a woman without touching her, that is, without marrying her, and you have not given her the mahr, then give her a mut'a. It should be such that it pleases the woman and pleases her. If a man sets the mehr and marries her, but divorces her without touching her, then he should give her half of the mehr. The woman was given the mehr, but he did not give it to her. If he married her and divorced her after a period of time, then the full amount of mahr is to be presented to her.

What is said in the video

To the women you have married, before touching them, that is, you married but have not yet consummated the marriage. Or without fixing a certain mahr for them; remember what we said, if a woman gives herself to you without mahr, she is forbidden to you. What does it say now: if you divorce them without fixing a certain mahr, there is no obligation of mahr on you. What did he do? I divorced her without fixing a mahr. There is no (?) of a mahr for her again. Because I never touched her. I never touched her. Yes.

In that case give them a mut'a, that is, something in the form of a gift. Why? Well, I bound that woman to myself. I gave her hope, saying I will marry her. This woman chose you, sir, to be your companion, she became attached to you. And you left her, even if you did not touch her. So to comfort her heart they call it mut'a for her. Give her gifts according to your means. Give that woman gifts. Comfort her heart. Yes, I was going to marry you, but forgive me. My son or my child or my situation does not allow it. I would only be using you for myself. With sweet words, that is. I would be wronging you too.

I fear for your rights. Please forgive me too. And let this be a nice gift from me to you. Use these. A gift for her, kindly. On the condition of comforting their hearts. Yes. The rich should give according to his means, and the poor according to his. Making a fitting gift is a duty for the good, it says. For the good. This is a duty. Why? You made that woman pin her hopes on you. You concluded the marriage. Then you divorced her without ever consummating it. So then comfort her heart. How will you comfort her heart? Blame yourself. Blame yourself. Well, forgive me. Yes. This was the situation, but now it has turned the other way.

I fear I cannot protect your rights. I fear harming you. I fear becoming a sinner in Allah's sight. So, in order to protect your rights, it became necessary for me to release you, that is, to divorce. Forgive me, he will say. Look, I am buying you this gift and giving it to you, accept it, he will say. How beautiful. Yes. When a man marries a woman and has not fixed a certain mahr, and divorces her without touching her, that is, without uniting with her, there is no obligation of mahr for her.

There is no such thing as: you divorced me, but you were to give such-and-such mahr.

In return, the woman is given a mut'a. The equivalent of a mut'a is a set of clothes. The equivalent of a mut'a is a set of clothes. The rich pays it according to his means, the poor (?) according to his. It is a duty Allah has placed on good people, it says. A duty; this strengthens the bonds of love and dialogue between people. What does it do? Even if you have left that woman, she keeps up her bonds of love for you. Not in the sense that you must be her husband, but regarding you as a good person, regarding you as an elder brother, as an elder, well, as a guardian, she keeps you alive in her heart.

Yes. Allah Almighty declares that giving mut'a is a duty on the good. Those who believe, those who love Allah, they are truly good. Comforting people's hearts and helping them, they call it a joy. Who would not want to enter the group Allah calls the good? Who would help another person and be deprived of that joy after all? But as for those who love Allah, there are people who do good yet expect something from the person in front of them. Either they satisfy their nafs over that person, or they want that person to serve them. But the good are not like that. They give for Allah, turn their back and walk away.

And when they see the person's face smile, their heart finds peace. For Allah. Feelings differ a great deal.

These people, knowing they will reach Allah, in this material world, to carry out what Allah says, continue obeying and worshipping Allah as far as they are able. They send their provisions ahead to the hereafter. So, that our son Ender did not gain rank in paradise, that in the world they gained rank, how beautifully we explain here. Isn't that so, my son Ender? Yes. Besides, they set fine examples for people. Don't you see so-and-so? What he does, how beautiful. And for Allah's sake, in this way they become an example to people. Islam is a religion that places great value on human rights and law.

Because Allah wants people on earth to judge with justice. Let a certain community among you, it says, spread right and justice on earth. Yes.

Allah Almighty, who created man as the noblest of creatures, has given people a value above all His creatures. Why? A value He gave to people above all His creatures.

Allah Almighty gave man of His spirit. No other created being has a spirit. As other people say that animals, cats, dogs, plants, birds, created beings have a spirit, they are very mistaken. Very mistaken.

Can you put a spirit into a plant in nature? Remember: they ask you about spirits, my Lord, say: it is a command of my Lord. If that spirit is a command of your Lord, a noble command, a noble Being, He deems it fit for a noble being. He does not deem it fit for any of His creatures other than people. In this respect He created people very noble. But I created man in the most beautiful form. That most beautiful form is from the forms of His giving him of His spirit, from the forms of His essence, from His attributes. Yes. That is why Allah Almighty has given people a value above all His creatures.

This is what this sentence means. So that in the dealings people have with one another they do not harbour enmity towards each other, all the necessary laws He has laid down. Our Lord, Allah Almighty, so that people make known how they will behave, how towards one another they will prove themselves to their Lord in the most beautiful way, our Lord has laid down laws. How beautiful. For people. And in the law Allah has laid down there is never any hardship. Why is there no hardship? Hodja, they kill people, they kill whoever kills someone, they kill those who commit adultery, isn't that hardship?

Believe me, it is not hardship. It protects people's honour and dignity. It protects people's honour and dignity. It protects the property of those whose property is stolen. And as for murderers, it prevents this with its deterring laws. Because He values man so highly. These are deterring laws. Now, when a married man, a married woman commits adultery, in our religion this is rajm.

They stoned this person to death.

That is a desert law. No. For the man who knows himself, created as the noblest of creatures, this is not a desert law, it is a most honourable law that observes and protects human rights and law. For example,

so that it is understood better, one should give an example from oneself. For example, I (?) left. I went to another municipality. Yes. If my wife commits adultery behind my back, I know Allah Almighty will kill her. Will have her killed. He will protect my honour. My honour. So is this a desert law? You follow your nafs. Follow Satan, or else worldly things (?) for the money someone gives, (?), sell your honour and chastity, your dignity, and play with the other man's dignity and honour too. So is this a desert law, gentlemen? Or I left my wife at home, went off and somewhere else committed adultery. Allah forbid, Allah protect us, I give this as an example so it is well understood.

My wife says: my man comes home spotless. Because, by my Lord's command, if he does anything wrong, they will take his head. So she trusts me like that. This symbolises a beautiful bond between husband and wife. Their devotion to each other; it removes suspicions. So, gentlemen, now next to the validity of the law they call human rights, civil law, which is more beautiful, this or that? We have reason, we will compare. If He created man noble, these laws are for the noble life of the noble being, at all times. But unfortunately everyone tries to fit the law to their own culture. But among cultures and ideologies, the most beautiful culture and ideology is the rule of the religion of Islam.

Do not forget this.

Of people, Allah Almighty, who wishes no injustice to people, so that people may carry on their lives in the best way, has made His laws clearly known. So, if for the women you married, without touching them, that is, without marrying, you have not fixed a mahr, give them a mut'a. (?) it should be such that it comforts the woman's heart and pleases her. If the man fixes her mahr and marries the woman, but divorces her without touching her, in this case he gives half of the mahr to the woman. Not all of it can be taken. The mut'a is dropped, he gives her half of the mahr. Because he has not touched her yet. And the woman returns the other half to him.

A mahr was fixed for the woman. But the mahr was not given to the woman. With the mahr remaining in the husband's charge, he married the woman. And after a while he divorced her. The fixed mahr is handed over to the woman in full. That is, a mahr was fixed for the woman. Let's say my situation was good. I give you a mahr right of 50,000 lira. 50,000 lira. We married. My wife said, let the money stay in your charge. I will take it from you later.

Fine. It can stay with me.

Three days later, five days later I divorced her.

I am obliged to give her the 50,000 lira in full. Even if I divorce her a day later, once we have united, the mahr has passed entirely into her possession. But if we separated without uniting, half of the mahr is hers, half is yours. Yes.
