Allah, there is no deity other than Allah. Allah is Hayy (Eternally Alive) and Qayyum (the Sustainer of Life). There is no sleepiness or sleep for Allah. To Allah belongs that which is in the heavens and the earth. Who could intercede in Allah’s presence without Allah’s permission? Allah knows what Allah’s servants will be doing and what they have done. But they cannot grasp anything from Allah’s knowledge beyond what Allah desires. Allah’s Kursi has surrounded all heavens and the earth. Protecting them is not difficult upon Allah. Allah is Aliyy (Exalted) and Azeem (Magnificent).
Tafsir
Allah is the God, there is no God but Him. He is the Creator of the universe from mote to sphere. He has made all His living and non-living creatures to remember Him. In this way, by remembering Allah (swt), His creatures symbolize that there is no God but Allah (swt). Allah (swt) says in His Verse (All living and non-living beings know the remembrance of Allah).
It is Allah who has made Himself known by making all His creatures prove that there is no god but Him. This means that He is alive with His Essence for eternity and eternity. Allah (swt) is (Hayyul wa Kayyum). With His attribute of life; All His creatures are in need of Him. But He is not in need of His creatures. He is Qayyum; He is eternal, He is alive. The meaning of alive here is that He is immortal. The whole universe will one day perish with the end of the world. But Allah will remain alive with His Essence. Then He will create this universe again. This attribute of Qayyum is Allah's attribute of immortality. It is the proof that He is immortal. Allah (swt) is neither absent-minded nor asleep. He is free from such deficiencies. The whole universe comes to life through Him. If Allah were to withdraw His gaze from the universe for a moment, the whole universe would be lost. (All that is in the heavens and the earth is His) This again means that there is no God, no creator except Him. If all beings are His, He is the owner of all beings. Since He does not buy from anyone, He is not the one who sells, if He does not say that He sold some of the creatures in this universe to Himself, if He does not make a partner with Himself, if He makes all the living and non-living creatures He created introduce Himself and make each of His creatures mention Himself with His attributes separately, it is a proof that there is no God other than Him, that He is eternal and eternal, and that all these worlds were created by Himself.
So no one can intercede for him without his permission. In other words, no one can make decisions for him. He cannot advise Allah. He cannot say that this or that should happen. However, Allah will grant intercession to prophets and friends of Allah to please them. This is a permission given to the friends of Allah by His Divine Essence.
Whatever Allah, the Creator, has programmed His creatures to do, Allah knows what those creatures will do. Allah, who writes people's own desires as their destiny, knows exactly what all people will do, when and where they will do it, and He knows what those who will come until the Day of Resurrection will do. Because He is the Creator. If He had not been aware of His creations, the order of the universe would have been disrupted and everything would have been destroyed.
(They cannot comprehend anything of His Divine Knowledge except as Allah wills.) Allah the Creator. If He had taught all of His knowledge to human beings, they would have the power to create, that is, the power to create out of nothing. Allah would have created beings equal to Himself, so that the human beings in the universe would also be Allah. Let us conclude here briefly and introduce the word creation.
If only many people today would realize that by saying that so and so created so and so, they are committing shirk against Allah. To create means to create out of nothing something that is not among the created things. Or even if there are created beings, it means that those created beings create something out of nothing, not by using the created, but by creating something out of nothing themselves, apart from the created. This is creation, this is how Allah created the universe out of nothing. Making something out of created beings and inventing it does not mean creating it. For example, Edison's discovery of electricity is finding something that exists with Allah's knowledge. Finding knowledge that does not exist is invention. This is what Allah means by saying that they cannot comprehend anything outside of Allah's knowledge as much as He wills. If human beings had the power to go beyond what Allah wills, they would have started to create and would have become equal to Allah. Whatever knowledge Allah has allowed human beings to learn, they will find that much and nothing beyond that. Because Allah has locked the human mind like a computer program, and the person uses himself up to the capacity of that program and cannot go beyond it.
This is what Allah means by this point, and human beings cannot fully comprehend His knowledge except through His Divine knowledge.
(His orb encompasses the heavens and the earth.) We have said that Allah has the attribute of life. He gives life to all His creatures. The creatures are in need of Allah. Allah is free from His creatures.
If Allah were to remain among His creatures, we might ask whether Allah (swt) is with His creatures because He is in need of them. But Allah (swt) is the One who is beyond His creatures, He has resided on the Throne, that is, He has gone beyond it, and He has established His sovereignty in a place that is free from time and space. We cannot comprehend His sovereignty or His seat where time and space do not exist. In this respect, we cannot comprehend what He will create according to His will.
If we cannot comprehend His creations, we cannot comprehend His Essence and make it fit into our minds. So why does Allah (swt) address us in this way, saying, "They cannot comprehend anything of His Divine knowledge except as Allah wills"? We cannot comprehend Allah so that He can be exalted. Otherwise, if my mind could comprehend Him, then He would not have such an exalted value in our eyes. It would only be like how much a person loves and respects a person and how much he shuns him. In this respect, all the sciences are the Verses that Allah has revealed to us in order to confirm His greatness and to prove to us that He is worthy of obedience and worship with His power of creation, since the following sciences are unique to His Essence.
Another meaning is that the whole universe is like a sphere in front of Allah (swt). The size of this sphere in His sight is like the model globe of the world, which is found in schools for the description of the world. The parallels of this sphere include the seven layers of the heavens that Allah (swt) has created. This realm is nothing but an optical illusion. If you put a microbe that you have magnified a thousandth of an inch under a microscope into a drop of water, that drop of water becomes an ocean. Or if we can fit mountains, plains and the sky into a square centimeter of film that we watch in cinemas, isn't Allah able to fit us into that sphere with His knowledge? Doesn't it show this when He says in one of His verses (We have created everything with its like), that is, the creation of things in proportion to each other?
Again, in one of the verses of the Qur'ân al-kerîm, it says, "If man and kind were gathered together, they would not be able to overcome Allah. If you set up a table in front of this universe, which is a sphere of such magnitude, would you not cover the universe? This is how Allah's Chair encompasses the universe.
Another meaning is: In this way, if the universe is in the presence of Allah (swt), all beings are in His sight. If Allah surrounds and covers the heavens and the earth, He is present everywhere. In this case, the following verse of Allah (swt) is revealed; Allah (swt) is omnipotent. Since, according to another verse, all creation is within the sovereignty of Allah, this shows that there is no contradiction or contradictory word among the Verses of Allah. This proves to us the greatness of Allah.
Therefore (it is not difficult for Him to protect and watch over them), if Allah encompasses the universe and is omnipresent, if He is omnipresent and omnipresent, if He is not kept awake or asleep, if He is free from all imperfect attributes, then nothing can go beyond His dominion without His permission, and all created beings come within the appearance of Allah (swt). (He comprehends and perceives the universe with all His eyes) in a verse means that He holds all beings under His sovereignty and protects and watches over them.
In this respect, Allah is great, and His greatness is beyond our comprehension. The greatness here is the greatness that belongs to Himself. He has determination and strength.
What is said in the video
In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 255 is where we left off. In this verse Allah Almighty,
Allahu la ilahe illa huve'l-hayyu'l-kayyum, the Throne Verse, to us and
(?) how beautiful, great and exalted His Essence is, He tells us. Allah's majestic name to anyone other than His Essence is a (?) not ascribed, so that people, besides Allah's Essence, call what they worship gods, deities, but they cannot easily say 'our Allah'; it doesn't sit with their religion. But of course they believe in Him as the Creator. That Allah (?), that Allah. That is, beside those who associate partners with Him, who call the gods they invent deities, that Allah (?). That is, Allah, la ilahe illa hu, illa Allah, besides whom there is no god, hu, subsisting by His Essence, that is, existing by Himself, by no one created, who neither begets nor is begotten, that Allah who is al-hayyu'l kayyum, He is eternal without beginning and without end, in Himself ever-living.
All beings, all living things will taste death. These created worlds, when the Last Day comes, will be created again, but Allah Almighty's Essence remains everlasting, before and forever. Yes, and all beings will be returned to Him. That is the Allah besides whom there is no god.
Why? There is no god besides Him. Certainly none. Look at how He says 'none'. That is, He says la. None. To prove the existence of something that doesn't exist, I need evidence. Evidence. Allah Almighty proves that evidence very beautifully, but no one besides Allah can prove his existence as a god. What does Allah Almighty say? That Allah who subsists by His Essence, who is everlasting before and forever, that Allah. Indeed, besides that Allah there is no god at all. Why not? Whatever has been created, from the atom to the globe, whatever has been created, He tells us that He is its owner. Where does He tell us? Where in the verse does He tell us?
The heavens and the earth and what is between them know the remembrance of their Lord. So all created things, living and lifeless, the nuclei of their atoms and those nuclei moving around their own axes, in that movement making a sound, and so remembering their Lord. Now why will it remember Him, and to what end? It will signify that there is no god besides Him. Because it will remember its Creator, the One who brought it from nothing, and signify Him. Is there, He says, another one like this among the created who would make what he created remember him too? No, no, there is no such being.
Those who claimed it were frauds; they all died and are gone. Like the Nimrods, like the Pharaohs.
How beautiful. Allah Almighty proves His Essence. What does He say? Allah is that Allah, that Allah. There is no god besides Him. Certainly. He is eternal and everlasting, ever-living in Himself. Eternal and everlasting. Both in pre-eternity, in the beginning. Why? Had He not been in the beginning, the worlds would not exist. So He, eternal, subsisting by His Essence before creating beings, then creating beings, then these beings, kun fe kun, that is, will perish, the Last Day will come. All the beings He created, every soul will taste death, and according to the verse 'your return is to Me', He will raise people again in the hereafter, and after holding them to account, our bodies will die a second time.
Spirit, nafs and life will go to the places they deserve. (?) As the return of what they earned, wherever they earned, there they will go. For on that day no one is wronged. Everyone is given the full return of what they earned, says Allah Almighty. Well then, if Allah Almighty is also the owner of the hereafter, if He is both the First and the Last, if all beings will return to Him, then He is the owner of these worlds, Allah besides whom there is no god, the Almighty. He is ever-living in Himself. Of course, had He not been living, these worlds could He create? After that these worlds come to nothing.
That is, they perish. The Last Day comes. Then could we appear before Him again? And once in His presence, were He not everlasting, surely one day we would taste death. But from then on, over spirits there is no death. Since He is everlasting, since He gave people a part of His spirit, since people subsist by Allah Almighty, since they exist through Him, people too will live with their Lord forever in the hereafter. Now when we say we subsist by our Lord, people who cannot grasp it may fall into errors. Errors.
As in, are we also gods, that sort of thing. Allah forbid. We are created. We are created beings. When it says we subsist by our Lord: after being created, since there is no death over their spirits, together with Allah Almighty, indeed, so that His Essence be known, by creating the spirit of the Prophet, his light, and giving from His spirit, by creating people's spirits from his spirit, Allah Almighty, who held man as addressee of His Essence, willed that His existence be known through people. That is, He willed that man know his Lord by his own will. And so He gave people from His spirit. It is from that spirit's ability that man, as a part from his Lord, is created, but created. Created from his Lord, in his Lord's existence, existing in the beginning, existing in His Essence, man, separated from His Essence and created in need of His Essence, and if the spirit was given from our Lord, if He gave the Prophet from His spirit too, it means separation from His Essence.
Like a child coming from the father's loins, for example.
But Allah Almighty has no need of wife and children. From a part of that spirit, perhaps billions, perhaps trillions of beings bearing that spirit's quality He created. That is, He created people. Yes. That is why those people, too, are in need of their Creator. From this, since the Creator gave people from His spirit, since He willed that those people know their Lord by their own will, in more breadth, in detail, let us open this up. In more breadth, in detail. Allah Almighty, who willed that His Essence be known through beings He separated from His Essence, had willed to be known through them.
He created people. And then, to distinguish those who know from those who don't, He sent them to the world of dominion. (?) He made a covenant with them. He gave them their wishes and desires, their wills, as their destiny. Then He sent us to the world of dominion. Yes, Allah, that is Allah. He is the Allah who creates everything, besides whom there is no god. That is, our Creator. And we are constantly in need of Him, without whom we cannot find life, and only through whom we can attain peace, our Lord. Our Creator, that is. Yes. He is eternal and everlasting, ever-living in Himself. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him.
Yes. That is, as in our world people need sleep within 24 hours, and because they are created deficient, that is, with reason created deficient, since they are created prone to absent-mindedness and forgetting, He cannot be compared to man. Even though man has from His spirit, He is flawless, whole and perfect, while those He created are deficient and erring. What does He say in a verse? Had you not committed errors, We would destroy you and in your place create servants who commit errors. That is, not ones who err on purpose, but ones who, being deficient, unknowingly or knowingly, after some sins they committed, seek pardon from Allah Almighty, know Him as Lord and can show their helplessness to their Lord; such servants We would create, He says.
Yes, and we are in the same situation anyway. So why does sleep not overtake Him? Why does sleep not overtake Him? All these living things He created are in need of Allah. Allah Almighty does not will injustice for His creatures. Had drowsiness overtaken Him, had sleep overtaken Him, had forgetfulness overtaken Him, His creatures would suffer injustice. Yet Allah Almighty, every moment, every hour, every minute, every second, is always creating, constantly creating. What does He create? Hodja Efendi, careful, don't get confused. Why? Well, you said there is a book in the Preserved Tablet. After that, nothing is added and nothing taken away.
Well, true. So what else does He create besides that? Ah, besides that, according to the wishes and desires of His creatures, their wills, their destinies, whatever they desire within their destinies, Allah Almighty creates those means. That is in that written book. Yes. So Allah Almighty is constantly creating. Constantly. And people, carrying out in deeds the wishes and desires that Allah Almighty creates within means, earn reward and sin. So in this case, had drowsiness overtaken Allah Almighty, had the living thing He created truly been (?), had He forgotten it there, Allah Almighty, (?) His attributes, would have wronged His creatures.
That is why neither sleep nor drowsiness overtakes Him. All that is in the heavens and on earth is His. Look how beautifully He says it. We said it at the start too. How beautiful. What does He say? There is no god besides Me, He says. Why none? Certainly. We said that in the nuclei of atoms, and those nuclei, turning around their own axes, make a sound. And that remembers its Creator. Just as, say, a factory stamps its symbol on the products it makes, Allah Almighty too, whichever attribute He wants remembered, has that attribute remembered in the matter He created. And this proves that there is no god besides Allah and that all He created belongs to Allah.
Yes. What are we saying now? (?) all in the heavens and on earth is His. In this case. Who can intercede with Him without His permission? No one can intercede. Because only on that day, the day when judgment belongs to Allah Almighty alone, to those whom our Lord permits, His righteous servants, about whom He says in a verse: Neither stain nor sorrow will touch their faces, according to that verse, according to the verse in Surah Ad-Duha: 'We will give you and you will be pleased.' What? We will give you the station of intercession, the right of intercession, and you will be pleased. Those (?), in that supreme court where judgment is His alone, Allah Almighty will likewise give His beloved servants the right of intercession.
So without His permission, who could intercede with Him? Only He will permit. Allah will permit, and if those people are friends of Allah, if he is a friend of Allah, Allah Almighty, as a reward for what he did in the world, so as not to drown him in sorrow in the hereafter, those he loves, those he loves who died with Islam as their religion but were sinners, those he loves, He will grant to him. Yes, that is the station of intercession. Intercession.
He knows what His servants have done and will do. How does He know? As we always say, in this verse too, Allah Almighty has programmed these worlds until the Last Day, programmed them, and within that program, what does He say in the verse? There is not a single living being to come until the Last Day whose deeds We do not know, He says. There is not a single living being to come until the Last Day whose deeds We do not know. So in this verse: He knows what His servants have done and will do. Both what they have done and what they will do. Now, when Allah Almighty says 'what they have done', it means He knows what all His creatures in this world do.
He is Basir, He sees. He hears you. There is that verse, isn't there. This is its sign too. The verses always confirm one another anyway. They support each other. So, as it said just above, neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes our Lord. So if Allah Almighty, free of all deficient attributes, also knows all who will come until the Last Day, then of His servants, of what they have done, He knows what they have done and will do. His servants' deeds; that is, He sees you with (?) eye, and He hears. So this whole universe, just as this computer is in front of me, is likewise in front of Him. Now there is another verse like this.
Even if men and jinn united, they could not harm Allah.
A verse.
This is very simple for Allah. Truly they cannot harm Him. Now, inside this computer there are mountains, hills, plains, the whole world. There is a world, inside the world program. Consider us, too, inside this computer. And consider your Creator watching you from in front of it. Watching. If this whole universe gathered, could it get out of the computer, out of the program, and do any harm to its Creator ? So Allah Almighty, possessor of (?) knowledge, will not separate His creatures from His Essence and will give life to His creatures but will be free of them. Consider time and space the inside of the computer.
The outside of the computer is outside time and space.
Those in that computer all need their Creator. Because the Creator programmed that program. In this case, what does Allah Almighty
say here? He knows what His servants have done and will do. That is how He knows, from here.
But they grasp nothing of His divine knowledge except as much as Allah wills.
What did we say? He knows what His servants have done and will do. Because every moment He sees and watches over them.
But they grasp nothing of His divine knowledge except as much as Allah wills.
These 'men yesha' verses sometimes mean Allah's willing, sometimes people's willing. Here it means Allah Almighty's own willing.
Because one must know how the verse comes. Or one must sense the wisdom in it: is it our Lord's willing or people's willing? According to the verses.
Here, except as much as Allah Almighty wills, of His divine knowledge no one can grasp, they grasp nothing. Why? Man wishes as much as he likes. He wishes and wishes. He wishes even what is outside destiny. Here Allah Almighty puts His full stop: this is within My willing. Because you don't know your destiny. You don't know what you need and what you don't. You wish for many things, but this wish of yours isn't granted. So this is within My willing. Now, I also wish sometimes, but it isn't granted. Nor could it be granted. What do you wish, Hodja? Look what I wish.
I said just now that all these materials created from the atom to the globe have atoms, and within them electrons and protons, positive and negative nuclei. These nuclei turning around their own axes, the turning makes a sound; this remembers its Lord. And every electronic material, when its positives and negatives turn around its axis, produces a magnetism. Or produces a frequency. Frequency. Now, just as, if a person were at the other end of the world and I called him by phone from here, I'd reach him instantly, likewise people's yes
here's the thing, people's too, if I knew the secret of the frequencies they emit, or if I knew the secret of which matter emits which frequency, I would destroy it with its opposite. I'd destroy it with its opposite. I'd wipe it out. And then you'd be the only one in the world with a weapon. But Allah, (?), this belongs to His Essence alone. This belongs to His Essence alone. How does it belong to His Essence alone? By His knowledge, the frequency every particle in the universe emits is programmed to His Essence. He commands what He wills as He wills. Because we are deficient, we would make errors, cause many injustices, destroy many things.
That's why this is Allah's knowledge as much as He wills, (?). Wish for it as much as you like. He won't give it to you.
His Kursi has encompassed the heavens and the earth, covered them. What is the Kursi? The Hodja's desk. His place of work there. That is, His making all programs with His knowledge there. Hodja, have you now attributed qualities to this? No, I haven't. Why not? Allah would say 'be' and it would be? No, not by saying 'be'. There are no sounds and letters. That is, kun, when He says 'be', Imam Ghazali says, that foolish man says, he says, Allah said 'be' and it was.
Whereas Allah Almighty's saying 'be' is His will. He creates. Had He said 'be' and it was, He would not say He created the earth in two days, the heavens in two days, and what is between them in two days.
But He willed, and whatever He willed, He created. In this case, in this case, (?) in two days, the heavens in two days, and between them (?) Allah Almighty, who created in two days, by the day of the hereafter, if a thousand years here are like one day of the hereafter, by world days created it in six thousand years. Well, in this case, Allah Almighty, with His Kursi, that is, with His knowledge, has encompassed every side, brought it under His rule. So His Kursi,
that is, His knowledge and, beyond Allah's Throne, the place where there is no time and space, where His sovereignty is, we'll now call it His sovereignty, has encompassed all the worlds.
We'll call it His throne. Today on earth, say America is a powerful state that, with its knowledge, strikes any place it wants from satellite; a place where its rule holds. Say, as an example; of course nothing is certain, but I'm saying it as an example. Today it enforces its rule wherever it wants.
Yes. Allah Almighty too, His Kursi, what does He say, if His Kursi has encompassed all the worlds, His sovereignty, His kingship, besides Him there is no king, He says.
The only king of all these worlds is Allah, He says. Because He has encompassed all the worlds. He created them with His knowledge. All beings are His. In this case, in this case,
of Allah, who is wholly living, everlasting, eternal and everlasting, the greatness of His glory and existence appears.
Through Allah the existence of all the worlds appears. Because had He not been, these worlds would not be. Yes.
So His Kursi has encompassed the heavens and the earths, covered them. As I explained just now, of the remotest corner of this whole universe, of matter, particles, atoms' nuclei, aware of all of them and encompassing all, all is under Allah's rule.
Guarding and preserving them is not hard for Him.
(?) that's how we explain it anyway. Just as we are inside the computer, in front of (?), all of it in front of Him. Watching over and guarding them is not hard for Him. Because everything is before Him. He does what He wills as He wills. Whenever He wills, He raises whatever storms He wills within that program. Here, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, don't they happen in computers? There are volcanoes, this and that, waves. Well, how did he do this? He did it with a program. Within that program He can turn it into matter. Allah Almighty's knowledge. This is knowledge. But I'm not saying we are inside a computer (?); I'm giving an example of it. Yes, our Lord's knowledge, that is, this way everything is manifest to Him, He is exalted and great; so of course there is no being more exalted and great than Him. In this case He now proves His Essence, and after this proof He says He is exalted and great.
This verse, in the commentary, how did we do it? Let's read it in the commentary too. Perhaps I'll recall places to add for you. Allah is that Allah besides whom there is no god. He is the Creator of the universe, from the atom to the globe. He has made all His living and lifeless creatures remember His Essence. We opened this up. Thus, by remembering Allah Almighty, His creatures have signified that there is no god besides Allah. We said it. Allah Almighty too, with His verse, states that all living and lifeless creatures know the remembrance of Allah. Yes, after saying 'that Allah, who makes Himself known by having all the beings He created prove there is no god besides Him', this meaning emerges: His Essence is eternal and everlasting, living.
Allah Almighty is Hayy and Qayyum. By the attribute Hayy, all His creatures are in need of His Essence. But He Himself (?) to His creatures. Giving life to all His creatures; all created things express need of Allah Almighty, but our Lord does not express need of His creatures. The Fatiha verse. He is Qayyum, He is everlasting. He is the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Hidden. He is living. Living here means He is immortal. Yes.
The whole universe, with the coming of the Last Day, will one day perish. But Allah will remain living by His Essence.
The whole Last Day will come. Allah alone will remain. Then He will create His creatures anew. Then He will create this universe again. This Qayyum attribute is Allah's attribute of immortality. It is the proof that He is immortal. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Allah Almighty. He is (?) such deficiencies. Since the whole universe finds life through Him, if Allah withdrew His gaze from the universe for one moment, the whole universe would come to nothing. As I explained just now, what did we say? Allah Almighty is constantly creating, and had drowsiness overtaken Him, His creatures would suffer injustice.
Whatever is in the heavens and on earth is His. From this again it is understood that there is no god, that is, creator, besides Him. If all beings are His, He is the owner of all beings. We signified this just now too. To you, from the nuclei of atoms, and their turning around their own axes and remembering Allah Almighty, and this signifying shows there is no god besides Him.
If all beings are His, He is the owner of all beings. Since He bought from no one, and if no seller in this universe says of some created things 'I sold them to Him', yes, what does it say, let's read this part again. Since He bought from no one, Allah Almighty didn't buy. What does He say? I created, He says. I created. That is, had He bought, the seller would say, 'I sold it.' There's no buying. I created. So yes, since He bought from no one, and if no seller in this universe says of some created things 'I sold them to Him', if no one comes forward saying of any material, say, a pen, a tree or any material, 'I had sold it to Him, and look, He made it His own'.
There is no one. He can't say it. Yes. Since He bought from no one, and if no seller in this universe says of some created things 'I sold them to Him', if no partner to His Essence comes forward, if He makes all His living and lifeless creatures know His Essence and has each of His creatures remember His Essence by separate attributes, then this is the proof that there is no god besides Him, that He is everlasting before and forever, and that all these worlds were created by His Essence. Yes. There is no god besides Him.
So without His permission no one can intercede with Him.
That is, no one can decide in His place. No one. No one can give Allah advice. No one can say, 'let this be like that'. But Allah will give prophets and friends of Allah, so as to please them, the right of intercession. This is a (?) given to the friends of Allah by the divine Essence.
If the Creator, Allah, programmed His creatures (?), Allah knows what those creatures will do. Allah, who wrote people's own wishes as their destiny, knows flawlessly what all people will do, when and where, and also knows what those coming until the Last Day will do.
Because He is the Creator. Had He not been aware of His creatures, the order of the universe would break down. Everything would be (?). As we said just now, if He withdrew His gaze from the universe for a moment, the whole world would (?).
But they grasp nothing of His divine knowledge except as much as Allah wills. We opened this up for you in more detail. Had the Creator, Allah, taught people all His knowledge, here we pass over it briefly, people too would possess the power to create, that is, the power to bring forth from nothing, they would. Allah would have created partners to His Essence, so that of the people in the universe, each of the people in the universe would be a god. Let's round this off briefly here. We said let's introduce the word 'create' to you. Today, if only many people could realize that by saying 'so-and-so created such-and-such' they ascribe a partner to Allah.
To create means to bring from nothing something not among created things. Can you do that? You'll create something that is not among created things. Yet if you had created such a thing, you would have brought something from nothing into being. Whereas Allah Almighty: or do you own a single particle? If that were so, you would be given nothing of your world, He says. So, Hodja, people found electricity; this was not created, you found it from matter, that is; it is there at the root of that matter, the Creator put it there, and you will find it and make use of it. You didn't bring that matter from nothing; it is in the matter.
Yes.
Or even if they were created things, creating is not using what was created, but oneself, free of created things, creating something from nothing, that is creating. That is what creating is. That is, someone creating something from nothing. Not from created things. Allah created the universe thus, from nothing. Making and inventing things from created beings does not mean creating them. As I said just now, like the discovery of electricity, it's invention. These are inventions. Edison finding electricity, for example. It is finding something existing through Allah's knowledge. Finding knowledge that didn't exist is invention.
That is, there will be more knowledge to come in the world. They will be inventions. That is what Allah means. They grasped nothing outside the knowledge Allah willed. Had people possessed a power to go beyond as much as Allah wills, they too would start creating and become as partners to Allah. However much knowledge Allah allowed people to learn, people will find that much; beyond that they will not find. That is, people keeping pace with that future age, with that technology, however much they will find, in proportion to that reason, to them, (?) them. Beyond that they cannot go either. They grasp nothing outside the knowledge Allah wills.
Had people possessed a power to go beyond as much as Allah wills, they too would start creating and become as partners to Allah. However much knowledge Allah allowed people to learn, people will be that much, will find that much, and beyond that they won't find. Because Allah locked human reason like a computer program; a person uses himself as far as that program's capacity; he cannot go beyond it. Yes.
Pointing to this, Allah means that apart from the divine knowledge He wills, they cannot fully grasp His knowledge. His Kursi has encompassed the heavens and the earths, covered them. Yes.
Now, the earths, we say. The earths: if you look carefully at the Quran, the Quran, if you look carefully at the verses of the Quran, nowhere, nowhere does anything called 'earths' occur.
Allah Almighty never used 'earth' in the plural. He says the heavens and the earth and what is between them. We sent you to a lost world. He doesn't say We sent you to lost worlds. He always speaks in the singular. The earth. In this case we too, when writing this, wrote 'the earths'. You know, the way spoken language goes.
Here no one can know this. Nor can anyone know that it's lacking here.
For them everything is earths. There are stars, the moon, all the galaxies; it means earths. You can't know this subtlety, the subtlety of the singular. We are removing 'earths' and putting 'earth' here now, earth. When you read that part, when you read the book, the commentary, let 'earths' be removed, with the meaning 'earth'; (?) let it be 'earth'. Why? Let it be 'earth'.
If Allah Almighty had said the heavens and the earths and what is between them this way, if He had made earths plural, then in the universe, besides man, living and in human form, there would have been people too; He would have meant that by 'earths'. But when He says 'the earth', singular, if in the universe He held man as the addressee of His Essence, and besides man held no being as the addressee of His Essence, what do you mean, Hodja, He also created angels; whoever He created, He didn't hold them as addressees of His Essence. Because He programmed them all within the portion of His will. And He gave none of them a part of His Essence.
That is, He didn't give them a spirit. Spirit is only in man. As we said before, people put a spirit into wolves, birds, living things, places, all of them. The poor person doesn't know what spirit is. That's how it came down, that's how it goes on. So-and-so said this, someone else said that. Read it so in a book, believed it so, and so it goes. Yes, what the spirit is, who the Holy Spirit is, and if one says the Spirit is Gabriel, (?), if he says this to him and that to that, of course it will all get tangled. Allah's word is very delicate, (?) sharp; one must pay great attention to every word.
So, if He gave from His spirit only to man, and man is only in the world, if the world is not plural but earth, earth, the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, plural there, the heavens, plural, seven layers, the earth, well, what is between the two, 'between them' plural. So had He said earths too, since in earths, in one of the earths there is man, in the other earths too, in the other created earths too, it would mean there are people. So in this case, nowhere other than the world is there man. Why not? If you left your world for the remotest corner of the universe, We would find you there.
Look, there is earth there. There is earth there. And it points to there being a place suitable for human life. And today they are finding there is life on Mars too. There is life on Mars. And mankind will go there too. The time to go will come; (?) they will go. What does He say? If you left your world and went to the remotest corner of the universe, We would still find you there, He says. So since there is no man anywhere other than the world, we will write it as 'earth'. Earth. In those books too we'll delete the plural of 'earths'. The plural. Only those plurals. They'll be 'earth'. Yes. So there's no deficiency in the words.
His Kursi has encompassed the heavens and the earth, covered them. We said Allah Almighty has the attribute Hayy. He gives life to all His creatures. Created things express need of Allah. But Allah is free of His creatures. Yes.
Had Allah remained among His creatures, such a question could come to our minds, we said. From the nature of the attribute Hayy.
What is the attribute Hayy?
His creating the worlds, the worlds expressing need of Him, and Allah Almighty being free of them. Had He not been free, had He remained among His creatures, to our minds such a question could come. Had Allah remained among His creatures, such a question could come to our minds. To Allah Almighty: is it because Allah Almighty expresses need of His creatures that He is with His creatures, we could say. Indeed, maybe He too has a need. Or He'll be carried on His creature. Something would carry Him, but He needs nothing to carry Him. What does the Messenger of Allah say? When the Prophet ascended on the Mi'raj: O Messenger of Allah!
People think I carry our Lord. Yet can what is carried ever be the carrier, it says. Everyone is carried. From the atom to the globe, everything is carried. The carrier is Allah. He gives them life. That is, carrying doesn't mean carrying on one's back. Yes. Allah gives them life, makes them move within a set time, brings them from nothing. He has need of nothing. He is free of His creatures. That is Allah, the Allah who, free of His creatures, established Himself from the Throne. That is, He went outside it too. From the Throne He created, took them all. Here's the computer: He brought it, put it inside, and He Himself is outside.
Everything needs this. This needs nothing.
That is, He went outside it too. In the place free of time and space He established His sovereignty. Sovereignty. That is His Kursi, His Kursi, His sovereignty, the king of all these worlds. Yes. You know, we gave America as an example, (?), as an illustration; (?). Indeed, we said it was an example. We said it as an example. Or if Turkey were the only state in the world, the only state, and all were in its house, today the Republic of Turkey's center is Ankara; in Ankara, over the world, Turkey's Kursi would be established. Because its rule holds. Allah Almighty too has encompassed it with Allah's Throne, and from there established Himself; His Kursi is set up permanently outside space.
His Kursi has encompassed the universe. So nothing happens outside His rule. So He is the king of these worlds. Yes. His sovereignty or Kursi in the place where time and space do not exist, our minds can't grasp, I said. What kind of Kursi is it? What kind of time and space? Our minds can't grasp it. Outside time and space. Indeed, when we say He established His sovereignty there, that is, when we say He established His sovereignty outside time and space, there are those who say Allah's (?).
Well, where is it in time? Our Lord says it. His Kursi encompassed the universe, He says. Where is this Kursi? It exists. (?) says it. Yes. So what He will create in proportion to His will, our (?). That is, how, when creating these worlds, so as to complete one another, He created 18,000 worlds or 17,000 worlds, and what these created things would need, how they would be created, within His own knowledge, our minds can't grasp that either. If our minds can't grasp His creatures, we can never grasp His Essence and fit Him into our minds. So no one can be equal to Allah, says the verse: we can't fit Him into our minds.
He has neither an equal nor a peer.
They misunderstand it. This time they say He resembles nothing. Of course, without knowledge they'll say so. People will say whatever they've heard. What's in their imagination, their mind, let's not say imagination or mind; whatever in their imagination they've heard, whatever was made to come to mind, whatever was taught, we should say rather.
So why does Allah Almighty address us this way, saying 'they grasp nothing of His divine knowledge except as much as Allah wills'? We said. We cannot grasp Allah, so that (?). Otherwise, had I been able to comprehend Him in my mind, then in our sight He would have no value left in this way. That is, had He given us all of it, His knowledge, we too would possess the secret of creating. Our Lord would then have no value in our sight. That is, indeed, I'd say I'm a creator. He has learned it, right? Well, today a teacher teaches his student, and aren't there those who (?) above their teacher and (?) him?
True. Yes. Our Lord doesn't allow this. He is the only king of the worlds. The only sovereignty. His Kursi. Yes.
However, the more a person loves and respects a person,
the more he holds him in awe, yes.
such a situation would arise, we said. Therefore all knowledge found makes one confirm Allah's (?), and since the knowledge after that belongs to His Essence alone, (?) with the power to create; these are His verses showing He alone deserves obedience and worship, which He made known to prove it to us. Yes. That is, the only owner of this whole universe, (?) from nothing. I created you. There is no god besides Me. Your return is to Me. Do not push the limits of the shari'a rulings I have told you, step outside them and be wrongdoers against your own selves, He says.
In another sense, the whole universe is like a globe before Allah Almighty. In His sight the size of this globe is like the model globe of the world found in schools for describing the earth.
The parallels of this globe take in the heavens Allah Almighty created in seven layers. We even say these worlds are nothing but an optical illusion in this world. Nothing but an optical illusion. Just as there are cells we cannot see with our eyes. On the computer, on my computer, ten times, ten times of everything, it took, a strange infinity appeared; it went into everything ten times smaller, strange genes of molecules appeared. And beyond that they can no longer go. So Allah, who created beings so small they can't be seen with a microscope, may have created us too in this world like an optical illusion.
If an eagle's eye can see its prey 20 kilometers away, see how that eagle's eye watches the world. yes, Allah Almighty signifies His knowledge to people this way. We this universe, how do we see it so big, we said; we asked a question. How do we too see this universe so big? If you put a microbe you magnified a thousand times under a microscope into a drop of water, to it that one drop of water becomes like oceans. Wouldn't it? It would. Take that microbe, put it in a drop of water; to it it becomes an ocean. Because its form magnified a thousand times under the microscope is that. Yes. Or if into one square centimeter of film you watch in cinemas we can fit mountains, plains and the heavens, isn't Allah too, with His (?), able to fit us thus inside that globe?
Yes. In a verse He says 'We created everything in measure', that is, the created things being made proportionate to one another; doesn't that show this? Everything (?). In a (?) verse He says, if men and jinn gathered, they could not burden Allah. If you set up a table and sat facing this universe, a globe of such size, wouldn't you encompass the universe? Allah's Kursi has encompassed the universe in this way. His knowledge has encompassed it. We gave some examples here. Like this. That is, we tried to speak of the Kursi and of our helplessness. That is, by 'our' we tried to speak of created things' helplessness. And we tried to explain what our Lord, with His power of creation, is capable of. With examples. Many more examples could be given.
In another sense; we are changing meanings here anyway, meaning by meaning. If the universe is thus in Allah Almighty's presence, all beings are under His view. If Allah has encompassed and covered the heavens and the earth, He is everywhere present and watching. There is nothing He does not see, nothing He does not hear.
In this case this verse of Allah Almighty is manifested as well:
Allah has power over all things, He says. Again according to a verse, since all created things are within Allah's rule, it shows that among Allah Almighty's verses there is no word that contradicts and refutes another. And this proves Allah's greatness to us. That is, had this been made up by a man, you would find in it many words that don't agree with each other, He said. Yes.
In this respect, guarding and preserving them is not hard for Him. If Allah encompasses the universe and is present and watching everywhere, if no heedlessness or sleep overtakes Him, if He is free of all deficient attributes, then without His permission nothing can step outside His rule, and all created things come within Allah Almighty's view. In a verse He says He encompasses and comprehends all eyes, the universe; this means He keeps all beings under His rule and guards and watches over them. He encompasses all beings. Yes. He encompasses and comprehends. That is, encompassing means covering, seeing, that is, taking under His rule, and comprehending what everything is.
We, even if we see, cannot comprehend; we are in a lost world.
In this respect Allah is exalted and very great. We cannot fathom His greatness with mind or secret. The greatness here is the greatness unique to His Essence. That is, it can't be compared with our greatness. In our Turkish (?) there is no such greatness. For example, (?), exalted, that is, high. Indeed, Kebir, great, He says. Ekber, that is great too. Kebir great, Ekber great. Which is great? Ekber means: Ekber is the one besides whose Essence there is nothing great. Ekber.
Kebir means great. Ahmet has an elder, a tree has a big one, Mehmet has an elder, Hasan has an elder. It comes to (?) meaning. Allah Almighty's words are all distinct. That too is great; in Arabic that too is great. Kebir is great, Ekber is great too. But Ekber's meaning, like Ehad: you know, Vahid is one and Ehad is one, that is, single. Vahid is also one, single. But Ehad's meaning is: belonging to His Essence alone, one single Creator. And Ekber too, in the meaning of a greatness belonging to Allah alone. That's why we say Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. Yes. Allah, besides whom nothing is great.
Yes. In this respect Allah is exalted and very great. We cannot fathom His greatness with mind or secret. The greatness here is the greatness unique to His Essence. He is mighty and powerful. We said. We probably signified this here.
