Al-Baqarah 264: Oh you believers! Do not make your alms get wasted by showing off with them, and making it means to oppress (the needy), like those deniers of Allah and the Hereafter do! Their case resembles a flat rock with a little bit of soil on top; when heavy rain pours, it gets cleared off that soil and becomes bare smooth. They cannot gain anything from what they have committed (apparently good deeds). The blasphemers would not come to the right path of Allah (As long as they are in the state of blasphemy).

Oh you believers!

Tafsir

O you who believe and say, 'I am Muslim' in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, do not put your good deeds on anyone's head. Do not be like people who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter, who spend their wealth only for show, who boast of their wealth among people, who despise those whom they help and use them as servants, who insult them and humiliate them among people, who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter. Do not let the good deeds you have done be in vain. Because both property and wealth belong to Allah. We are tested with these things created by Allah. Allah gives people wealth and children from His property. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter dream of boasting of their possessions, and then they realize that their lives are over and they go to the Hereafter as they were born, without possessions and property. However, while they were enjoying their wealth and possessions, the deeds they did with them were written down as good deeds and sins. He left his wealth and property in this world and went to the Hereafter with the good deeds and sins he earned with his wealth.

(Such a person is like a flat rock with a little earth on it, but a torrential rain has fallen on it and turned it into a smooth, smooth rock). How well Allah describes those who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter. He likens these people to the soil on the rocks. Their hearts are petrified and they have turned away from Allah's mercy and compassion. The good deeds and good deeds they do for show in the world are like a little soil on the rocks. As we all know, soil is the land that nourishes all vegetation and shelters human beings and animals. It is useful and beneficial. These men who give their wealth for show, although they gain many rewards for themselves, their charity and good deeds are not for the sake of Allah, but for show or for their own benefit, and their charity and good deeds will melt away in the sight of Allah, along with their sins.

Allah (swt) then compares those who humiliate the man to whom He has given His wealth for him to boast among people, who break his heart, and who put his good deeds on people's heads, to the torrential rain; just as the torrential rain, which is strong and pouring down, washes away the soil on this rock and turns it into a smooth rock, so the good deeds that a person has earned, with his bad behavior towards people, with his bad behavior towards people, with his actions of putting down the good deeds he has done and hurting the person, he nullifies them all in return for his sins.

Allah (swt) says to those who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter that they will not have anything of what they have earned. The meaning here is not wealth and property, but the rewards earned for the Hereafter. They cannot have the rewards they have earned. Because they do not follow the path of Allah and His Messenger. They follow the path of their nafs and the devil. In this respect, they destroy the good deeds they have done with the sins they have earned.

The disbelievers do not want the right path of Allah. They do not like the right path shown by Allah by compromising their ego. Thinking themselves to be very wise, they call Allah's laws outdated. They see pride and fame as an inheritance from their ancestors. They consider all kinds of swampy paths as permissible for themselves. But they do not want the paths which Allah has shown as the truth and which will lead them to Salvation.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 264. O you who believe! Like the one who does not believe in Allah and the Last Day, in Allah and... what do we say? Like the one who, though he does not believe in Allah and the Last Day, spends his wealth for show, do not, by reproaching and hurting, render your good deeds, your good deeds, void, He says.

A person does good deeds. Good deeds. Polytheists do good deeds too. Non-Muslims do good deeds too.

Good deeds are done for gain. Without believing. And for gain from it, (?). So non-Muslims voicing the good deeds they do, and also, with their unbelief, all the good deeds they do go to waste.

The state of such a one is like a smooth rock with a little soil on it, He says. A smooth rock. I have seen that smooth rock, I am living it. (?) on top of a rock, on a hill, on top of the rock, there was a little soil. Since there was no wall, when it rained a little, the soil was stripped off and went down. There was also a fig tree. It went along with it. It went straight down to the road below. So there we started from 3 metres, up to 6 metres we built a wall (?), we levelled the place, and together with the soil we levelled it. What a beautiful (?) our Lord gives now. Our good deeds are just like this.

The soil on the rock is our good deeds. But if we reproach, if we do these good deeds for our own gain, and if we also have no faith in the religion of Islam, it flows away like the soil on that rock. And the rock appears again. Is like a smooth rock with a little soil on it, which a downpour has struck and left as a bare, smooth rock. Yes.

These can have nothing of what they have earned. The unbelievers do not want Allah's right path. This too is one of the verses explained wrongly. What have we said?

In verse 264 of Surah Al-Baqarah, it says Allah does not guide the unbelievers to the right path. A verse explained wrongly. It says Allah does not guide the unbelievers to the right path. Allah forbid, the Holy Quran was sent to the worlds. To the polytheist, the religious, the irreligious, the unbeliever, (?).

There are (?) among them.

So let us not say Allah does not guide the unbelievers, but the unbelievers do not want Allah's right path. The unbelievers. (?). Of course they do not want the right path. O you who believe! You who say 'I am a Muslim' by obeying Allah and His Messenger! Do not reproach anyone for the good you do.

Who does not believe in Allah and the hereafter, who spends his wealth only for (?), who boasts among people of the wealth he spent, who looks down on those he helped and uses them like servants, humiliates them among people with insults: do not be like the people who do not believe in Allah and the hereafter.

Do not render the rewards you earned void. Because wealth and property both belong to Allah. We are tested with these things that Allah created. Allah gives people wealth and children from His possession.

Those who do not believe in the hereafter, the hereafter, while they boast of their wealth and dream, we wrote it with a letter L missing here, we wrote it. Yes. While they boast of their wealth and dream, they suddenly see that the people's lifetime is up, their life has come to its end, and to the hereafter, as they were born from their mother, without wealth or property, they have gone. That is, (?). But while they were busy with wealth and property, the deeds they did with them have been written for them as rewards and sins.

He left the wealth and property in the world. To the hereafter, the reward he earned with his wealth has gone along with his sins.

The state of such a one is like a smooth rock with a little soil on it, which a downpour has struck and left a smooth, even rock. As I told a moment ago, how beautifully our Lord gives examples to people, gives comparisons like this, and how beautifully He Himself speaks with people. He likens these people to the soil on the rocks. People whose hearts have turned to stone, who have drifted away from Allah's mercy: the good deeds they do in the world for (?) are like a little soil on the rocks. As we all know, soil, providing nourishment for all plants and sheltering people and animals on its surface, is a piece of land.

Soil is useful and beneficial.

So these men who give their wealth for show have secured many rewards for themselves. But since their good deeds are not for Allah, since they do good for show or for their own interest, their good deeds melt and vanish beside their sins in Allah's sight.

What have we said here? Their good deeds, in Allah's sight, melt and vanish beside their sins. Their good deeds, of course. Their sins do not melt and vanish. Let that not be misunderstood; that part seems a little contradictory. Let us read it once more. Their good deeds, in Allah's sight, melt and vanish beside their sins. Yes.

Then the Quran likens those who humiliate among people the man they gave wealth to in order to boast, who break his heart, who reproach people for the good they did: Allah Almighty likens them to a downpour.

A strong downpour, raining as if poured from a glass. Just as it wipes, sweeps and carries off the soil on this rock and leaves it a smooth rock, so too the rewards a person earned, through his bad behaviour towards people, one who reproaches the rewards he earned and, with his actions, hurts the person, renders them all void in exchange for his sins. Yes.

So Allah Almighty declares that those who do not believe in Allah and the hereafter can have nothing of what they have earned. Nothing.

The meaning here is not wealth and property; what is meant is the rewards he earned for the hereafter. They cannot have the rewards they earned. Because they do not walk in the way of Allah and His Messenger. They follow their nafs and the trail of Satan. Therefore, with the sins they earn, the good things they did are ruined. Yes.

With the sins they earn, they ruin the good things they did. They ruin those (?).

The unbelievers do not want Allah's right path. Giving in to their nafs, they do not like the true path Allah has shown. Thinking themselves very clever, they call Allah's laws outdated. They see pride and fame as an inheritance left to them by their forefathers. They consider every swampy path permissible for themselves. But the paths Allah has shown as true, which would lead them to salvation, they do not want. These are, completely outside the religion of Islam, (?) people. (?) people completely outside the religion of Islam. Thank you.
