Explanation
The misinterpretation
Their (hypocrites) situation is like a burning fire (in a dark night). When the fire illuminates their surroundings, Allah immediately removes their light and leaves them in darkness.
The right translation
Their (the hypocrites) situation is like the example of a fire that burns (during the night). Who extinguish the fire while it enlightens its surroundings, will cause themselves to stay in darkness. They won’t be able to see anymore.
Explanation
In Surah Ibrahim, Verse 1, our Lord says;
(1- Elif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Book which We have sent down to you by the permission of their Lord, that you may guide mankind by the permission of their Lord out of darkness into the light, that is, into the way of Allah, the Almighty, the All-Powerful (and) the Praiseworthy.)
Sometimes Allah (swt) reveals His Verses to us in a figurative sense. Sometimes He reveals His Verses to us through parables and similes. Sometimes He tells us in a literal sense. He has explained this verse to us in a figurative sense. Non-Muslims cannot light a fire in the dark night. The light of the fire here means the Holy Qur'an.
When people come into the world, they are in darkness. They did not know what to do. Allah (swt) brought people out of darkness into the light by sending Prophets and books. In this verse, the Qur'an has come as a light and illumination to the worlds. Those who turn their backs on this light leave themselves in darkness.
Allah (swt) has created human beings for the knowledge of His Essence. If man turns to Allah and Allah (swt) excludes those who turn to Him and leaves them in darkness, does Allah (swt) not discriminate between His servants? Does it not prejudice Allah's attribute of justice?
Will is two: 1- The universal will 2- The limited will. The universal will is our Lord. He does what He wants. The limited will is in human beings. Humans have made a covenant with our Lord in the 172nd verse of Surah A'râf, and their desires and wishes are written as their destiny. These destinies will never change again. In this case, if Allah (swt) removes the will of people from people and uses His will on people, why did He send us to this world? As our Lord says in the 134th Verse of Surah Taha:
(134- If We had destroyed them with a torment before this (the Qur'an), they would certainly have said: "O Lord! If You had sent us a messenger, we would have followed Your Verses before we fell into this humiliation and disgrace.)
The person who comes into the world will play out the destiny that he has written with his own desire and will, and he will be held accountable for his deeds in the world with full justice in the Court-i Kübra by making himself, his surroundings and Allah (swt) witness what kind of a person he is. Otherwise, Allah (swt) does not take away anyone's light and does not interfere in anyone's affairs in this world, nor does He remove people's will from them and use His will on them.
What is said in the video
We come to verse 17 of Surah Al-Baqarah.
Their state, the hypocrites' state, is like one who kindles a fire on a dark night, it says. The hypocrites lit a fire, on a dark night. Those so pitiful that they don't even know what the dark night is, get up and give translations of the verses of the Quran. I call them pitiful.
These people, running after material gain or after fame and glory, saying "this is how I write it", without fearing Allah and His Messenger, without fearing Allah, without shame before the Prophet, they write their writings. Now to you...
look, now: dark... their state, the hypocrites' state, is like one who on a dark night kindles a fire. What is the meaning of the darkness? If he had known the meaning of this darkness, this person would not have fallen into this mistake. Forget the meaning, if he had known the verses, forget the meaning, if he had known the verses, he would not have made the mistake here. And he would not have explained it this way. What does it say now? It is like one who kindles a fire on a dark night. When the fire lights up its surroundings, Allah at once takes away their light and leaves them in darkness, it says.
And yet Allah Almighty sends the Quran to the worlds. A light, a radiance. A book that scatters the darkness in the worlds, brightness, and lights up people's way in light. What are you saying, Hodja? Are you telling the truth? Surah Ibrahim, verse one, listen. Elif Lâm Râ. This Quran is a book We sent down to you, so that by their Lord's permission you bring people out of darkness into light, that is, onto the path of Allah, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. If He says that, and if the words of Allah Almighty do not contradict each other, these hypocrites will on a dark night light a fire, and Allah will put out their darkness, their fire, and leave them in darkness?
I'm going to say "shame" now, shame. It's shameful. Shameful, a sin.
You, Allah both one... what does it say in that verse? Allah sends the Quran down to earth to bring them out of darkness into light. And those hypocrites light a fire among themselves. And Allah says: why are you lighting a fire? He drowns them in darkness. He leaves them in darkness. What kind of understanding is this?
What does it mean? They cannot light a fire. The fire. The fire is the Holy Quran. Light: just as, in the darkness of the night, when you light a fire it lights up the surroundings, in the same way the Quran lights up the way before people. Their state, the hypocrites' state, is like a fire burning on a dark night. Now, like a fire burning on a dark night. The state of the hypocrites. The fire is burning. The surroundings are lit up. What? The Holy Quran has come before them as proof.
When the fire lights up its surroundings, those who put out the fire leave themselves in darkness. They no longer see. Or those who turn their backs on the fire, who put out the fire within themselves and turn their backs on the fire, leave themselves in darkness. If you say, "So what if I stay in the dark, what's wrong with that?", the road of that darkness goes straight to Hell, right into the very heart of the fire of Hell. The path of light, however, keeps to the straight path, the road to Paradise.
Yes.
So then, so then, They found the field open, unchecked. They gave the Quran meanings. When I was a child I was very naughty, they say.
My mother had a saying for me that I never forget.
"Son, you've found a village without dogs, so you walk around without a stick," she would say.
These too have found a village without dogs and walk around without a stick. But don't worry, Allah will raise a scholar who will break that stick of yours, and on your head He will thus have that stick brought down. He will have that cudgel brought down. Yes.
