Al-Baqarah 214: Or did you think that you will enter paradise without having the calamities come upon you also had came upon people before you? Poverty and hardship had struck them so hard and they were shaken so heavily that the Prophet and the believers with him said, “when is Allah’s help (coming)!”. Know that Allah’s help is close.

The misinterpretation

Or did you think that you would enter Paradise before what happened to those who passed before you happened to you? Poverty and distress touched them so much and they were so shaken that when the Prophet and the believers with him will finally be helped by Allah? they said. Know that the help of Allah is near.

The right translation

Or did you think that you will enter paradise without having the calamities come upon you also had came upon people before you? Poverty and hardship had struck them so hard and they were shaken so heavily that the Prophet and the believers with him said, “when is Allah’s help (coming)!”. Know that Allah’s help is close.

Explanation

The wrong place in this verse is this: (The Prophet and the believers with him said, "When is Allah's help?"). Whereas a Prophet knows patience and he knows the wisdom of our Lord in this absence and hardship.

Indeed, those who believed with the Prophet said, 'When is the help of Allah? They said. They opened the verses arbitrarily, almost to the point of making the Prophets rebel against Allah.

In verse 81 of Surah Al-Imran, Allah (swt) says: 81- When Allah sent among the Prophets a Prophet who confirms what is before you after I gave you the Book and wisdom, you will certainly help him. Have you affirmed this? Have you accepted this covenant? When I asked them, they replied that they accepted. Then Allah said, "Then bear witness, and I am one of those who bear witness with you.

Would a Prophet not know that he and his people are being tested and ask when is the time for Allah's help? Do the prophets forget that our Lord made a covenant with them and ask Allah (swt), like a commoner, when is the time for your help?

What is said in the video

214. Verse 214. Verse 214. The verse here has been translated wrongly. Verse 214, verse 214 has been translated wrongly here.

"Or did you think, without what befell those who passed before you befalling you too, that you would enter Paradise?" Now it says it well. Which one does this verse support? Which verse does this verse support? Let me look properly. Which verse does it support? "Or did you think, without what befell those who passed before you befalling you too, that you would enter Paradise?" it says. "You will be tested somewhat with your wealth and somewhat with your lives," it says. Well, "Poverty and hardship touched them so, and they were so shaken that at last the Prophet and the believers with him said, 'When is Allah's help?' 'When?' they said.

Know that Allah's help is near." Yes. Now we are reading the correct one. "Or did you think, without what befell those who passed before you befalling you too, that you would enter Paradise? Poverty and hardship touched them so, and they were so shaken that at last to the Prophet, to those who believed with him..."

We stopped here. Why did we stop?

There's something in one word here. "At last to the Prophet and the believers with him."

"At last to the Prophet and those with him who believed."

In one it says "believers", in the other "those who believed".

When it says "believers", it is now making a distinction here between Muslim and believer. Allah Almighty gives the believer this much hardship, but not the Muslim. Then the man isn't a believer, he's just a Muslim. That is, he doesn't rise to the nafs al-mutmainna.

Do you see the meaning of a single word of the phrase? A single word.

Does "believer" appear here — "believer"? Let's see, does this "believer" appear here? Verse 214. Sir. En tedhule'l-cennete ve lemmâ ye'tiküm. Meselü'llezîne halev min kabliküm. Messethümü'l-be'sâü ve'd-darrâü. Ve zülzilû hattâ yekûle'r-resûlü ve'llezîne âmenû meahû metâ nasrullâh, elâ inne nasrallâhi karîbun. Is it there? There's no "believer". It's "those who believed". It's "âmenû". Make it up, make it up, say it as you see fit. Make it up, make it up and say it. Make it up, make it up and say it. Whereas if he had known that he could tell believer and Muslim apart here, that believer and Muslim can be told apart, and what differences there would be between the two groups — had he known, he wouldn't have fallen into this error.

Yes. "'When is Allah's help?' they said. Know that Allah's help is near."

And which one does this verse support?

"Know that Allah's help is near."

Yes. This supports the following verse. A prophet — "I tell it to my daughter so my daughter-in-law understands." It comes to the same meaning. "When a prophet is about to lose hope in Allah, Allah's mercy reaches him," it says. I have lived this many times. Hope in Allah is never cut off. Only the disbelievers lose hope. Surely the term is up now. We say, "We're going." Indeed. If you still have provision, you'll stay in the world. Or your way will open up. We said, surely this is the last moment. And you see that Allah's mercy arrives from behind and opens up before them. Yes.

People, Allah Almighty raised us on verses, but He also raised us by making us live through them ourselves. Yes. Now you go and sort these out. Now sort out believer and Muslim here. Yes.

May Allah set them right. These are the ones who translated the verses of the Qur'an.
