Ali 'Imran 179: Allah will not let the mu’min stay in the situation that you are in; at the end, Allah will separate the clean from the unclean. With this, Allah will not reveal to you the unseen (ghayb). But Allah reveals to Allah’s Prophets as much as Allah desires. So, believe in Allah and Allah’s Messengers. For the abstaining mu’min there is a great reward.

The misinterpretation

Allah will not abandon the believers in the state you are in, He will eventually separate the unclean from the clean. However, Allah will not inform you about the ghayb. But Allah discerns whom He wills from among His messengers. So believe in Allah and His Messengers. Believers who have taqwa have a great reward.

The right translation

Allah will not let the mu’min stay in the situation that you are in; at the end, Allah will separate the clean from the unclean. With this, Allah will not reveal to you the unseen (ghayb). But Allah reveals to Allah’s Prophets as much as Allah desires. So, believe in Allah and Allah’s Messengers. For the abstaining mu’min there is a great reward.

Explanation

This is where this verse goes wrong: Allah distinguishes whom He wills from His messengers. The meaning is not clear here, and even if it is said that Allah distinguishes or selects whom He wills from His Messengers, the meaning is still incomplete according to the way the verse is written. The correct meaning of the verse here is: Allah reveals to His Prophets as much as He wills. Because la ghayb illallah. Our Lord will not inform us of all the unseen. The meaning here is that He reveals some of the unseen to some of His Prophets, and He reveals some of the unseen to the successors of the Prophets, the scholars and the saints. What He reveals to the Prophets are miracles. What they report to awliya or scholars is also a miracle.

What is said in the video

179. We've come to the verse, Surah Al Imran – verse after verse, all wrong. Allah will not leave the believers in the state you are in; in the end He will separate the foul from the pure; however, Allah will not reveal the unseen to you either, but Allah singles out whom He wills from His messengers. So believe in Allah and His prophets. For these believers who have taqwa there is a very great reward, it says. Where is the fault here? It says He singles out the prophets, you see. It says He singles out the prophets, you see. Look: Allah will not leave the believers in the state you are in. Right. In the end He will separate the foul from the pure.

Right. However, Allah will not reveal the unseen to you either. That's right too. But Allah, of His prophets, as much as He wills – to His prophets as much as He wills He reveals. What does it say here? But Allah singles out whom He wills from His messengers, it says. Singles out whom He wills. What does ‘singles out’ mean? Can you make anything of it? But what does it say here? Pay attention here. But Allah reveals to His prophets as much as He wills.

Singling out is one thing, revealing is another. Allah Almighty sent prophets according to the development of the human mind. And according to that development He sent them with knowledge that would address them. Now there is singling out whom He wills, and there is revealing to whom He wills. How much this changes here! Allah reveals to His prophets as much as He wills. That is, whatever those peoples need, whatever their minds can take, that He reveals to them. What does this resemble? Which verse does it support? What you cannot carry We do not load on your back, it says. How beautiful. The verses always support one another.

So where does ‘singling out’ come from here? Yes.

Understanding the verses is something else. So, Allah – believe in Allah and His prophets, because a back you cannot bear We do not load; We send it to you in a way you will understand. Believe in Allah and His prophets; for the believers who have taqwa there is a very great reward. Yes.
