Translation
The arrogant dignitaries of his people who denied that they would return to (Allah) and to whom We had given wealth said, “This is only a man like you. He eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.”
Tafsir
The wealthy and well-to-do people of this unnamed tribe disbelieved in their Prophet, and without any knowledge of Allah and His Prophets, they said to their people about their Prophet: "This cannot be a Prophet, because he is a human being like us. He eats what we eat and drinks what we drink. That is why they say we do not believe it.
The reason why they speak in this way is that when Allah (swt) created our souls and made a covenant with them, Allah (swt) created people very close to His Essence, and these people denied Allah (swt) because they likened Allah (swt) to themselves and were waiting for Allah (swt) in their imagination. Their same understanding is repeated in the realm of property. In this respect, they said that the Prophets eat and drink like us, and they thought that Allah would send His Prophets from angels or from beings of their imagination. They did not know that Allah (swt) says in His Verse: "Whatever you are, We will send Prophets from your kind". For this reason, Allah has sent Prophets to the angels from among the angels.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Mu'minun, we have come to verse 33. Those of his people who disbelieved and denied reaching the Hereafter, and the wealthy ones to whom We gave prosperity in the life of this world: "This," they said, "is only a human like you. He eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink." Well, of course it will be so. What else? Because Allah created man as the most honourable. He says He created you honoured above the worlds. Ve lekad halaknâ'l-insâne fî ahseni takvîm. I created man in the most beautiful form, He says. Then I made man the vicegerent on earth, He says. Then Allah Almighty gives man a part of His Self and makes him the addressee of His Self.
So, since there is no being more honourable, more exalted than man, of course Allah, from among people, chooses for Himself messengers from among people who will make the truth known. In the verse He says: whatever you are, We send prophets of your own kind. How beautifully He says it. Whatever you are – the angels also have prophets. There are four great angels. Gabriel, Michael, Israfil, Azrael. Yes.
Their speaking like this: when Allah Almighty created our souls and made the covenant with them, since Allah Almighty created people very close to His Self, these people too denied Allah. The same understanding of theirs repeats itself in the great world as well. For this reason, saying that the prophets too eat and drink like us, that Allah's prophets would come from the angels or from beings they imagined – that is what they assumed. Yes.
They did not know that Allah Almighty decrees in His verse: whatever you are, We send prophets of your own kind. For this reason, Allah Almighty also sent prophets from among the angels to the angels. Alhamdulillah.
