Al-A'raf 163: Ask them about the people of the city that lay at the seashore. They were being disrespectful against the day of Saturday and were transgressing. (They were doing so) because on Saturday – the day they were resting – fish appeared to them in abundance. And on the days other than Saturday, they did not appear. Because they went astray, they were going through a test (to prove to themselves their character).

The misinterpretation

Ask them about the state of the townspeople by the sea. Behold! They were disrespecting Saturday and crossing the line. Because on the day they took a Saturday holiday, the fish would come out and flock to them. They would not come on the day they did not have a Saturday holiday. Thus We were testing them because of their misguidance.

The right translation

Ask them about the people of the city that lay at the seashore. They were being disrespectful against the day of Saturday and were transgressing. (They were doing so) because on Saturday – the day they were resting – fish appeared to them in abundance. And on the days other than Saturday, they did not appear. Because they went astray, they were going through a test (to prove to themselves their character).

Explanation

And the wrong place in this verse is: (Thus We were testing them because of their apostasy.) The truth is: (They were being tested because of their apostasy (in order to testify to themselves what kind of people they were).

Allah (swt) created the worlds, He has programmed these worlds until the Day of Resurrection, including all His creations, the human and jinn, angels, animals, etc., in short, whatever He has created from mote to sphere, until the Day of Resurrection. He knows what all His creations will do day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute and He creates reasons for them. All creatures follow this program with what they do within this program. In this case, our Lord said: (They prepare a trap and We prepare a trap, We are the best of those who prepare traps), no creature can go outside this program. If they do, our Lord will put them in their destiny and make them witness what kind of creatures they are. In this respect, He is the best of those who prepare traps. That is to say, He does not oppress His creatures by setting traps for them, but brings the human and jinn creation into their own destiny, each of them proving what kind of person they are, and they will be held accountable for what they have done in the world.

In this case, our Lord does not test anyone to find out what kind of being or what kind of person he is. The meaning of testing here is that He creates some reasons for people to witness their actions. Our Lord knows whether they will fulfill Allah's commands or not, so He makes them witnesses to themselves. It is for Allah (swt) to punish or reward them by making them witnesses that they are rightfully deserving of the punishment that Allah (swt) will mete out in His justice.

What is said in the video

One hundred sixty- third verse, a verse that was interpreted wrongly. What does it say? Ask them about the people of the town by the seashore, about their situation. The Sabbath people: into apes He turned their forms. Remember when they, showing disrespect to the Saturday, transgressed the limits. Because on the day they kept the Saturday rest, the fish would surface and come to them in shoals. On the day they did not keep the Saturday rest, they would not come. Thus We were testing them because of their going astray, it says.

Now here the Sabbath people are in rebellion (?) against Allah Almighty Allah Almighty gives them a punishment. A punishment. So that they come to the right way. His punishment says: you will not fish on Saturday. On the other six days of the week you will fish.

On six days of the week there are no fish in the sea. On Saturday the fish, the sea is teeming. The sea is teeming with fish. One of them says: build a breakwater. When the fish come on Saturday, he says, close the breakwater. On the other days fish here. And in one narration Satan's leading, desire being given to them (?). In this situation the people start building a breakwater. Their priests come to them and advise them. What you are doing is (?). Allah Almighty will punish you afterwards. Give this up. He sees that they do not give it up. And what do these do?

The priests, between themselves and these people, start to build a wall. A wall. They build a wall. And until the wall is built, they keep advising them. But the people take no lesson from this advice. They complete the breakwater. And the priests complete the wall between themselves and them. And they ask the priests, they say: why are you building this barrier? 'Perhaps,' they say, 'if Allah Almighty sends them a calamity, so that we are separated from them, this doing this, they say. And finally on Saturday, when the sea teems with fish, they shut the sea with the breakwater off. When they fish on the other days, Allah Almighty turns their forms into apes.

Yes. The priests come to the town. They see apes wandering about in the town. And tears flowing from their eyes. They lived three more days. And there they perished. So the skeleton Darwin used to say man came from apes is this skeleton. That is, the skeleton of the Sabbath people's being turned into apes. Yes.

We read the correct one. Ask them about the people of the town by the seashore, about their situation. Remember when they, showing disrespect to the Saturday, transgressed the limits. Because on the day they kept the Saturday rest, the fish would surface and come to them in shoals. On the day they did not keep the Saturday rest, they would not come. Because of their going astray, to make them witnesses to themselves of what kind of people they were, they were going through a test. A test. Otherwise, how He would give them themselves (?), what it is to them (?): 'Thus We were testing them because of those who went astray,' it says.

So Allah Almighty does not know what they are. He tests them. As a result of that test He will punish them. Whereas in the gathering of Alast, when Allah Almighty made a covenant with people, what they will do. So in parentheses this too: to make them witnesses to themselves of what kind of people they were, parenthesis closed, they were going through a test. Yes.
