Al-A'raf 168: They (the Jews) dispersed into the face of the earth by groups. There are good people among them and there are people who are inferior. They were tested with blessings and calamities (to be witnesses against themselves to show their character).

These were interpreted wrongly.

Verse 168, sir, we are reading it to you; I am reading the wrong one. We scattered them, that is the Jews, in groups across the earth. Among them there are good people too. Aren't they still scattered across the earth? Yes. Among them there are good people too, of course. Indeed among them there are those who pray, who fast, who give zakat, even (?) those who hide. They cannot show themselves, cannot make themselves known. And among them there are also those lower than that. So that perhaps they turn back from evil, We tested them with good and evil, it says. Now here: 'so that perhaps they turn back'.

Whereas Allah Almighty does not go in for 'perhaps', 'this', 'that' and such things. You know I always say this: man, according to his own capacity, the capacity of his head, puts Allah Almighty in the position of a person facing him. As if He too tests them thinking perhaps they will improve, or in that way waits for them to turn (?) from evil. Good heavens. Now the correct one of it is read. They, the Jews, scattered in groups across the earth.

Among them there are good people too. And among them there are also those lower than that. To make them witnesses to themselves of what kind of people they are, they were tried with good and evil. They were tried. They are tried. Yes.
