The misinterpretation
Remember that Allah promised you that one of the two groups (caravan or army of Quraysh) was yours. You wanted the weak (caravan) to be yours. However, Allah wanted to realize the truth with his words and to cut back the unbelievers (by destroying the army of Quraysh).
The right translation
Remember that Allah was promising to you one of the two groups (the destruction of the army of Quraish). And you desired to have the weaker (caravan) of them. However, Allah desired to manifest the truth and to cut off the roots of the infidels.
Explanation
Where this verse goes wrong is here: "Remember that Allah promised you that one of the two parties (the caravan or the Quraysh army) would be yours." The correct version is: "Remember that Allah promised you the destruction (of the Quraish army), one of the two parties."
If we pay attention to this verse, in the wrong opening it says: Allah promised you that one of the two parties (the caravan or the Quraysh army) would be yours, which means that whichever of the two armies you want, shoot it and take it. However, the correct opening is: "Remember that Allah promised you that one of the two parties (the Quraish army) would be yours." The correct opening of this verse is evident in the continuation of the verse. The verse continues: "But Allah wanted to fulfill the truth with His words and cut off the pursuit of the disbelievers (by destroying the Quraish army)."
Now when they open the Verses with words that contradict each other, they have turned the Verses into superstitions. A sane person does not open the Verses in this way. Even a person with a little knowledge realizes that this Verse cannot be opened like this and tries to open the Verse properly. Because our Lord says in His Verse: "And you wanted the one who was weak (the caravan) to be yours". But our Lord wanted one of these two armies to be struck down as more essential to cut off the pursuit of the infidels.
One of the two parties was Abu Sufyan's caravan. The Companions consulted amongst themselves and wanted to strike Abu Sufyan's caravan and take its goods to strengthen themselves. However, Allah (swt) wanted the infidels of Makkah to be cut off. In that case, they gave up the shooting of Abu Sufyan's caravan. They decided to fight the second army that our Lord had promised, the army that He wanted to cut off the infidels, that is, the army of the polytheists of Mecca. Allah (swt) also helped Islam with His promised angels, cutting the power of the infidels and paving the way for the spread of Islam.
What is said in the video
Surah, in Surah Al-Anfal the seventh verse has been translated wrongly. What does it say? Remember that Allah was promising you, of the two groups, the caravan or the caravan or the Quraysh army, that one of them would be yours. Yes.
And you wanted the weak one, the caravan, to be yours. But Allah wanted to establish the truth with His words and, by destroying the Quraysh army, to cut off the unbelievers' roots. To cut off the unbelievers' roots. Now look here. There is a subtle point. Remember that Allah, of the two groups — here Allah says, remember that Allah was promising you the destruction of one of the two groups, the Quraysh army, He was promising. He was promising the destruction of the Quraysh army.
But here: that of the Quraysh army, one of them, the Quraysh army or the other, would be yours is what He was promising. Now, can you grasp the subtlety here?
Allah Almighty, in the verse: remember that Allah, to you, one of the two groups — who is this one of the two groups? Abu Sufyan's caravan. The other is the polytheists of Mecca.
They are marching on Islam.
And the Muslims say, let's raid the weak caravan, let's take them, let's grow strong. Yet what does Allah Almighty say here now? Pay attention. Remember that Allah, of the two groups, that is, the caravan and the polytheist army, the one being the Quraysh army, was promising you its destruction. Now, Allah's promise is to promise the Quraysh army. And what does it say here now? Look what it says by mistake. Remember that Allah, of the two groups, the caravan or the Quraysh army, promised you that one of them would be yours. That one of the two, the Quraysh army or else the caravan, would be yours, He was saying. Of course, if it's one of the two, I'll go and raid the caravan.
But Allah doesn't say one of the two, so what does He say? He was promising the destruction of the Quraysh army, He says. A definite command. How can you say here that He was promising that one of them, the caravan or the Quraysh army, would be yours? Then: and you wanted the weak one, the caravan, to be yours. Now, there you go. Look at the wording, the wording! On the one hand it says let one of the two be yours. And then: so you go and want the caravan, it says. You wanted it to be yours. But Allah wanted to establish the truth with His words and, by destroying the Quraysh army, to cut off the unbelievers' roots.
After that, below, it says what is right. What does it say above here? Let's take a look. That one of them, the caravan or the Quraysh army, would be yours, He was promising. Of course, the Quraysh or the caravan's army — what does it say here? When it says one of them, the caravan or the Quraysh army, is yours, when it says He promises it, the man goes and strikes the caravan. We what do we say here now? Pay attention to the flow of the words: remember that Allah, of the two groups, the destruction of one, the Quraysh army, was promising you. And you wanted the weak one, the caravan, to be yours.
But Allah wanted to establish the truth with His words and, by destroying the Quraysh army, to cut off the unbelievers' roots. Look, it is not your wish, He says. It is Allah's wish. This is Our plan. We will have their roots cut off, He says. (?) but you, He says, wanted that, He says. Yes.
What do we say here? Verse 8 — what does it say here anyway? Even if these, that is the sinners, dislike it, even if they dislike it, to establish the truth and to abolish falsehood, it says. Yes.
