“Oh my Dear Lord, because, they (the idols) have made many people go astray. Now, whoever follows me belongs to me. And whoever goes against me, You are truly Ghafoor (Most Forgiving) and Raheem (the One Who very generously accepts repentance).”
Tafsir
Because these idolaters have caused people to go astray. With their idols, which they invented as religion, they directed people towards their own worshippers and led many of them away from the path of Allah.
O my Lord! We sanctify You from all deficient attributes. We believe that there is no God but You. Whoever follows me in this case is subject to you, O Allah, and is one of those who believe in you in your way.
And whoever opposes me, O Allah! That person has also disobeyed You. Since they are also Your creatures, they say, You are the only one who forgives and merciful. Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was a very mild-tempered, sighing, patient and merciful person. He did not know that Allah (swt) would not forgive the disbelievers, so he prayed for them. Then when he was warned about the disbelievers, he never again prayed for the disbelievers except for their rehabilitation.
What is said in the video
Now here, in verse 36, in the verse, in verse 34, what it said, again he explained it wrongly, and the verse here now contradicts one thing it said with another thing it said. Look now, what it says here. In verse 34 it says: indeed, man is very unjust, very ungrateful, it says. In verse 36 it says: because they, the idols, caused many of the people to go astray, it says. Now: they caused many of the people to go astray, it says. What does the other one say? Because man is very unjust, very ungrateful. And here the idols, sir, caused many of the people, sir, to go astray. Yet in an idol there is no life, no soul, and no speech either.
What is the idol's fault? Yes. If the idols were a hindrance to people's going astray, er, a cause of it, then on the Day of Judgement Allah Almighty, see, this would contradict this verse. What does it say? He calls the idols. Did you say it? We are their, that is, your gods? Never, say the idols. They come to speech. We know nothing of ourselves. We didn't know what they did to us, they say. Upon that, He sends the idols away. Idols are just a piece of wood or a piece of stone anyway. They vanish. Those who worship them suffer the punishment. So it is the person's own will. Here too there is a mistake.
What does it say? Because they, the idols, caused many of the people to go astray. What kind of reasoning is this? If the idols had life, let's say, Allah protect us, Suppose an idol were alive, like Ahmet or Mehmet, and before it, a person, this Ahmet or Mehmet, he deceives that person. But the idols, the person's, er, they don't even know about themselves anyway. What does it say now? They caused many to go astray. My Lord, now whoever follows this one is of me, it says. My Lord, now whoever follows me, it says, is of me. And whoever opposes me, then You are truly most forgiving, most merciful, it says.
most forgiving, most merciful. Verse 36.
Now here: because those idols cause many of the people to be bewildered. Not to go astray. Of the people, because those idols cause many of the people to be bewildered. Otherwise an idol doesn't bewilder a person, that is, doesn't lead him astray. My Lord, now whoever follows me is of me, it says. And whoever opposes me, You are surely forgiving, the Owner of mercy. There is nothing wrong here. When it says 'is of me', that is, those who obey my command and those who don't too; You, sir, will probably not forgive them like those who obey, but if You forgive, You are their owner, but You are the Owner of justice; it doesn't say 'is not of me'.
Pay attention here. If it said 'is not of me', then the souls, those denying souls, would have been created somewhere else, by another being. What does it say? And whoever opposes me, You are surely forgiving, the Owner of mercy, it says. Like that, there are some people left in suspense. Those left in suspense on Al-A'raf, like the people of A'raf. This verse points there too. He forgives or doesn't forgive. It's up to Allah's mercy now. But those who deserve punishment will get the punishment. Now here I've coloured this verse in black. I probably didn't have it marked green, sir. Let's make this green here.
