Al-Hijr 79: And The vengeance occured. They, in fact, took revenge (from their own nafs (self-ego) by transgressing against the Truth). Ruins of both of these nations are still in display, clear to see (of people’s eyes).

The misinterpretation

We also took revenge on them. Both (Eyke and Madyan) are on an open road.

The right translation

And The vengeance occured. They, in fact, took revenge (from their own nafs (self-ego) by transgressing against the Truth). Ruins of both of these nations are still in display, clear to see (of people’s eyes).

Explanation

The wrong place in this verse is this: We took vengeance on them too. Verily: They took vengeance (on their own souls).

Allah does not take revenge on anyone. Our Lord is not incapable of being angry with people and taking revenge on them. When people transgressed Allah's limits on earth, our Lord, again as a mercy to mankind, took revenge on His own souls when the people who transgressed Allah's limits, who had already made their covenant as disbelievers, were subjected to the destruction of our Lord because of their evil deeds and rebellion in the worldly realm, so that they would not corrupt the morals of the people who would come from behind (from the realm of Berzah) and become bad examples for them.

In this way, people who constantly open the verses by attributing shortcomings to Allah (swt) and making Him incapacitated, have opened the verses in a very wrong way and made the verses contradictory to each other.

What is said in the video

In Surah Al-Hijr, verse 79: We took revenge on them. Just look, he brought Allah Almighty down to his own human form, made Him a counterpart as he saw fit: Allah Almighty took revenge on man. What kind of thing is this? Does your mind grasp this? Allah will take revenge on me.

No. Is there no (?) in Allah taking revenge? There isn't. He destroys whom He wishes, creates what He wishes, does what He wishes. But He created man honoured, left him free in his will, in his own partial will. So man took revenge on his own self. If man doesn't do what Allah says, what will happen? Allah Almighty will punish. So when He gives the punishment, did Allah take revenge on his self? Now think of it like this. Say I, Allah protect us, insulted someone here, or injured someone, and he went and complained about me, I stood before the judge, the judge sentenced me and sent me to prison: did the judge take revenge on my self, or did I take revenge on my own did I take it? The judge did his job as judge; a person takes revenge on his own self self. If you don't do what Allah says, if you step outside what Allah says, and Allah leaves you subject to punishment, did Allah take revenge on you? What kind of understanding is this, what is it? We took revenge on them.

Both of them, Aykah and Midian, are on a plain road. That is, He destroyed those peoples. Why did He destroy them? He sent prophets. They rebelled against their prophets. They didn't believe in him. They demanded miracles. They showed miracles. Still they didn't believe. So they became subject to Allah Almighty's punishment. And so they were destroyed. Did Allah take revenge on them? Or rather, toward their Creator: He feeds him, gives him drink, gives him a part of His Being, creates him honoured above the worlds, and he doesn't turn to Allah, turn to his Creator and give thanks; he rebels against Him.

He doesn't recognise Him. Look, if you don't recognise the Creator, if you eat and drink what the Creator gives, and betray Him, will you be sentenced to punishment or won't you? And when He says that punishment, for your misfortune, did Allah take revenge on you, or did you take revenge on your own self? Yes.
