The misinterpretation
Your Lord knows you best. If He wills, He will have mercy on you. He will punish you if he wishes. We did not send you as a proxy over them.
The right translation
Your Lord is the One Who knows you best. Allah will show mercy to those among you who desire. And when you desire, Allah will punish you. We have not sent you as a guardian over them.
Explanation
The wrong opening here is this: "If He wills, He will have mercy on you. If He wills, He will punish you." The correct one is: "He has mercy on whomsoever He wills among you. And when He wills, He punishes you." We have explained in many Verses that our Lord has no will over people. Since in the Holy Qur'an, the verse is opened incorrectly and our Lord's continuous wishes on mankind are mentioned repeatedly, we are putting here one of the wishes we have written in the past as a repetition.
In this verse we have written that our Lord has no will over people, that every soul has made a covenant with our Lord, and that people's desires and wishes are written to them as destiny, and that this will never change, and in this case our Lord has no will over people. It is explained in detail in verse 172 of Surah A'râf. Why were we created, where were we created, why did He make a covenant with mankind and why did He send us into the world even though He knew what we were? You can get information there.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Isra, verse 54. "Your Lord knows you best." Of course, I'm reading the wrong verse, mind you. Of course, who knows us best? Allah Almighty. We cannot know ourselves the way our Lord knows us. Well, how can't I? Can't I know myself? We cannot know as our Lord knows. The reason: well, He is the one who created me. He is the one who gave me my traits. He is the one who instilled my feelings in me. Although I don't know what I will do in life a second from now, Allah Almighty is the one who knows what I will do until my death. Well, do I know myself better? In this case Allah knows me better.
Well of course the one who created me, surely the one who created us knows better than us. Only us? Those who come after us too. Then those who come after them too. Then He knows those who come until the Day of Judgement too. Because the universe has been programmed. Yes. What does it say? "Your Lord knows you best. If He wills, He has mercy on you." "If He wills", look. Here it now goes wrong. Not Allah, mind you. People translate it wrongly. "If He wills, He punishes you." Now it has left Allah to His own pleasure and amusement.
What did He do? He said: let Me punish that people.
Now here Allah Almighty, for His own pleasure and amusement, will start inflicting punishment. That's what it means. "If He wills, He punishes you." "We did not send you as a guardian over them," it says. This part is right. Now we read you the correct version of it. Let me read the wrong one once more, then read the correct one. "Your Lord knows you best. If He wills, He has mercy on you; if He wills, He punishes you. We did not send you as a guardian over them." Now we read the correct version. "Your Lord knows you best. He has mercy on whoever of you wishes it. Mercy, He has mercy on whoever wishes.
When you will it, He punishes you." When we will it. What does He do? He punishes us. Punishments come in degrees.
With the desires of the nafs, within faith, you are both a believer and you knowingly commit sins.
Once He says nothing. Twice He says nothing. The third time He punishes you. What does He do? He tries to put you in a tight spot. So that you get on the right path, I mean. Get on the right path. Punishing doesn't mean killing him.
"We did not send you as a guardian over them." No, over these people, over those who do good and those who do evil, We did not send you as a guardian. You are no one's guardian. Why, you are the Messenger. I mean, you are the envoy of the Creator. What does the envoy do? He makes the word of the Creator heard by people. The envoy. In this case, whoever obeys the envoy obeys Allah. Because, hearing Allah's word, he says (?) to the envoy.
And whoever turns his back on the envoy's word goes his own way. Both those who obey the envoy and those who don't, by their own will, on their own way carry on. In this case, those who go too far into unbelief He punishes. Is there proof of this in a verse? There is. He says: We give the non-Muslims three or two calamities a year. Does He say that? He does. Well, have we now gone to evil too? We have. Have we too become stark naked? We have. Have we uncovered our private parts? We have. Just as Satan had our father Adam and our mother Eve driven out of Paradise, have we too been driven, in this world, to where Allah does not want us?
We have. Now there are no rains, there are calamities. Floods sweep things away. There are earthquakes. There are volcanoes. Now calamities strike us too. We did not deserve such calamities. But Hodja, there are good people among us. Huh? Don't forget this proverb. Next to the dry, the green burns too. If that green does not warn that dry, if it does not warn the dry that will burn, it burns too. If that green warns that dry, Allah Almighty, when He burns the dry, takes the green one out from among it. Just as, when He destroyed the prophets' peoples, He took their prophets out.
O mankind! Pay close attention to Allah's word. Don't part from Allah. This world is a passing world. Within a short life, don't ruin an eternal life and make the fire of Hell your bed. Yes. Yes.
