An-Nur 40: Or (the feelings and acts of the infidels) resemble the deep darkness in the wide oceans, which is covered by wave after wave and by a cloud. Layers of darkness, upon darkness; if the person reaches out with his hand, he can hardly see it. If a person has not taken from Allah’s Nur (divine light), there is no share of enlightenment for that person.

The misinterpretation

Or (the feelings, thoughts and behaviors of those unbelievers) are like the dense darkness in a vast sea; (It is such a sea) that wave after wave covers it. Cloud above. Darkness on top of each other, one can hardly even see it if one pulls out his hand and stretches it out. If Allah has not given light to a person, he has no share of the light.

The right translation

Or (the feelings and acts of the infidels) resemble the deep darkness in the wide oceans, which is covered by wave after wave and by a cloud. Layers of darkness, upon darkness; if the person reaches out with his hand, he can hardly see it. If a person has not taken from Allah’s Nur (divine light), there is no share of enlightenment for that person.

Explanation

This is where this verse goes wrong: If Allah has not given light to a person, he has no share in light. The truth is: If a person has not received the light of Allah, he has no share in the light.

Many wrong ways of opening these Verses are based on Verse 172 of Surah A'râf. Verses that are opened without understanding the meaning of this verse are opened incorrectly in this way.

Our Lord has made a covenant with human beings in the 172nd Verse of Surah A'râf. He has given Him the desires and wishes of every human being in full. In this case, whatever a person has asked from our Lord, our Lord has written down the will of the person as his destiny. So the truth of the verse is: If a person has not received the light of Allah, he has no share in the light. Wrong: When they say that if Allah has not given light to a person, then he has no share in the light, it shows that Our Lord discriminates between His servants. However, our Lord invites all His servants to Himself without discriminating between them.

What is said in the video

We move on to our lesson. Yes.

We had stopped at the fortieth verse of Surah An-Nur.

Now I am reading the verse that has been rendered wrongly. Or the feelings, thoughts and behaviour of those disbelievers are like dense darkness in a vast sea, it says. The feelings, thoughts and behaviour of the disbelievers are like darkness in a vast sea. The verse truly, that the disbelievers are in darkness and, because they long for light, call themselves the enlightened class: how beautifully it explains this here. One. Second: verse 17 of Surah Al-Baqarah, they rendered that verse wrongly, didn't they; what do they say? Like one kindling a fire in a dark night. In a dark night the disbelievers cannot kindle a fire and light up their surroundings.

In a figurative sense: Allah Almighty sending the Holy Quran as a mercy to the worlds, and to bring the worlds to light, to brightness, by sending the Holy Quran to the Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), as the last book to the last prophet, until the Day of Judgement Allah Almighty will continue His religion and maintain its light. Its light. Those who turn their backs on it leave themselves in darkness. See how beautifully Allah Almighty says it here. Their feelings, thoughts and behaviour are like dense darkness in a vast sea. Such a sea that wave upon wave covers it, and above it a cloud.

What does this mean? Let me explain it up to here. I, says Allah Almighty, created these worlds. The seven layers of heaven, the stars in the sky, all these planets, the sun and the moon, the lunar system, I placed in the sky. I brought night and day to the world. Despite their eyes seeing these, still stubbornly crawling in darkness such are these people. Yes. Let's read that part once more. Like dense darkness. Such a sea that wave upon wave covers it. And above it a cloud. Layers of darkness one above another. If a person put out his hand, he could hardly see even that. So openly, outwardly, in manifestations, Allah Almighty has created His existence as if poking a needle into people's eyes.

Yet still, turning their backs, the poor people seeking (?) light within darkness, such people. Yes.

If Allah has not given a person light... This is where they went astray, they render this wrongly. If Allah has not given a person light, then that person has no share of light, it says. Whereas if he could not take from Allah's light, that is, from so many beings, as if thrust into his eyes, as if nailed in, sir, has not taken his share of this light, has shut his eyes and preferred to live in darkness, then that person has no share of light, we said. Yes, this darkness and light: Surah Ibrahim too says so in its first verse. What does Allah Almighty say, sir? Surah

Ibrahim. Let's look here. Which one is it? (?) 211, 254. Let's look it up on the page. What does the first verse say?

This Quran by their Lord's permission, to bring people out of darkness into light, that is, onto the path of Allah, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, We sent down to you a book. What does it say in Surah Al-Baqarah? They render this wrongly, verse 17. In that verse it says here that their, the hypocrites' state is like one kindling a fire in a dark night. Now look, here it contradicts the verses. Whereas their, the hypocrites' state is like a fire burning in a dark night. Like a fire burning in a dark night, because in the darkness, when the fire's (?) gives light, those who turn their backs on the fire leave themselves in darkness, they no longer see. The darkness he means by 'they no longer see' is that wave upon wave, and above it a dark cloud; if he drew out his hand, he could not even see it, such a state. That is the state of the disbelievers too. They do not understand. What you tell a wall leaves a mark on the wall; on him it leaves no mark. Yes.
