The misinterpretation

Allah always watches over those who take friends other than Allah. You are not their representative.

The right translation

Allah watches over (all the worlds) also those who adopt allies other than Allah. You are not a custodian for them.

What is said in the video

Assalamu alaikum.

Good evening.

We left off at verse six of Surah Ash-Shura. 'Allah is always watching those, too, who take friends besides Allah.

You are not their keeper,' it says.

Where is the shortcoming here?

What does it say? 'Allah is always watching those, too, who take friends besides Allah,' it says. Whereas Allah Almighty does not watch only those who take friends besides Allah. He watches over all the worlds. But since the Arabic words are translated into Turkish, and Turkish has no equivalent for it, we say it in parentheses like this: 'All these worlds, and those, too, who take friends besides Allah, Allah is always watching. You are not their keeper.'

Yes. Since Allah Almighty is present and watching everywhere, He does not watch only those who take friends besides Allah. In fact, even saying He 'watches' this ascribes an attribute to Allah.

Here, instead of that 'watching', a nicer wording: if we say 'Allah knows all that you do', it would be better. Mark this place, we'll look from here. It was verses 8 and 6 of Surah Ash-Shura.
