Translation

Show us the straight path.

Tafsir

O Allah, Mighty and Majestic, if You had willed, You would have created us in the way You willed, You would have treated us in the way You willed, and You would have subjected us to torment. You have granted us life through Your mercy and compassion, through Your being the judge of judges, through Your treatment with justice, through Your compassionate behavior. You have shown us the truth. Keep us fixed on the right path that You have shown us, O Allah.

You introduced the good and the bad by giving us the blessing of reason. You have sent us Your Word, the Ancient One, so that you may follow the right path, so that you may leave the path of those who deviate, so that you may not turn away from the Truth and prefer the world to the Hereafter.

O Allah, have pity on us and protect us and help us. Keep us on your path, O Allah. Amen.

What is said in the video

The 6th verse: İhdine's-sırâta'l-müstakîm. What does it say? Allah, the Owner of power and might. You know, we say "show us a right path", a right path. İhdine's-sırâta'l-müstakîm. Show us onto a right path. Some say, "lead us, lead us to a right path." If Allah led us, He would take our will from us; He would surely lead us to the right path. Not "lead us to the right path". You will not surrender to it, to it. You will do this by your own will. He will show you the right path, and you will do it by your own will. Otherwise: "lead me". "You didn't lead me, so I didn't do it." No. That falls into the Qadariyya.

Into the Qadariyya, the (?). Allah forbid. There is no such thing. Everyone will exercise their own will. So then, have me led to the right path. Show me the right path. Show. And He shows it. With what? "Here is the Quran for you," He says. And what does He say? "Do not call anyone to account for a matter you have not made known," He says. Yes. In this case, what do we do? What do we say to Allah Almighty? O Allah, Owner of power and might, had You wished, You would have created us as You wished, treated us as You wished, and made us subject to punishment too. That is, nothing is in my hands. If You wished, in proportion to Your will, had You used Your attribute of wrath, had You taken pleasure in people taking revenge on each other and shedding their blood, created man as You wished, taken pleasure in punishing them, we could not have done anything.

We could not have done anything at all. But You are such a Lord, such an Allah, that You do not wish to wrong any of Your creatures even by an atom's weight. You are the One who treats people, or Your creatures, with mercy. You are compassionate and full of tenderness, an Allah of mercy whose compassion and tenderness resemble those of no other being. Yes, in this case, what do we say? Show us the right path. We are helpless, forgive us, we say. Well,

Your compassion and mercy, Eleysallâhu bi-ahkemi'l-hâkimîn, by Your being the Judge of judges, by Your treating with justice, by Your compassionate conduct, You granted us life, we say. Life. What a beautiful life. You showed us the right path; make us steadfast in the right ways You have shown, O Allah, we say. Yes. And what does the Prophet (peace be upon him) say?

"I swear by Allah, who holds my nafs in His hand of power," he says. He has so surrendered his nafs to Allah Almighty that he does nothing of himself. Allah, who holds his nafs in His hand of power. This verse is the counterpart of this hadith. He does not speak from (?). He does not speak from (?). Because our Lord educated him. He educated him very beautifully. Because he was to come as a mercy to the worlds. Because he was the first of creation.

Because he was made a mirror to His Essence, and through him He willed His Essence to be known. That is why the Essence itself educated him. And for this reason He sent him as a mercy to the worlds. Yes.

By giving people the blessing of reason, You made them know bad and good. You know, our Lord (?) us firm on the right path. He gave us such a blessing of reason that this person will govern himself, pass his own judgment, tell good from bad, and live a sovereignty within his own will. Within his own will. This is the blessing of reason. Animals do not have these. Why not? Within the duties they are programmed for, they finish their work with very good character. Man is not like that. Man is equipped with the blessing of reason. Partial will has been given into his hands. That is, he will pass his own judgment with his own ability.

Yes, by giving the blessing of reason, You made known bad and good. So that you walk on the right path, and do not, left to the way of those gone astray, drift from the Truth and prefer this world to the hereafter, You sent us Your eternal word. What has He done? He has equipped us with the blessing of reason. He created us most honoured, and through our own existence He willed that our Lord be known.

In this case

Allah Almighty took pity on people; since into this world, which is a (?) world, He sent people, for them He sends His Quran as evidence to light the way before them, to people as a source of mercy and guidance. O Allah, have mercy on us and protect us, help us, do not part us from Your path, O Allah, we said. Here again we made known our (?); what do we say? Our Lord, have mercy on us, on us; since we are deficient in reason we make mistakes; forgive us for these mistakes. And what does Allah Almighty say in His verse anyway? Had you been seized at once for the mistakes you made on earth, you would not find a single living being walking on earth, He says.

So look at the greatness of our Lord. He creates us deficient in reason. Well, this one will fall short. In this shortcoming, will this person approve what he did with the feelings of his nafs? Or will he see that what he did was a mistake and ask my Lord for pardon and forgiveness? To make us witnesses over ourselves, He leaves us to ourselves. For a time. And so He makes us witnesses to one another, to those around us, to ourselves and to our Lord. That is why, since we were created deficient, for the mistakes we made we are not at once seized. For this reason, what does Allah Almighty say? I am At-Tawwab. That is, I created you deficient in reason.

You will fall short. Turn back at once. Know your helplessness. Ask your Lord for pardon and forgiveness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) says the following, in one of his hadiths. When you make a mistake, that is, when you commit a sin, right after it do a good deed, he says, so that (?) takes that sin away. That is, do not fall into loss, he says. Do not suffer loss. How beautifully he puts it. Right after it, do a (?). That is, give charity. Feed a hungry person. Well, whatever you can do. You have no money at all, you can't give anything to anyone. Fast. Fast. Fasting. How beautiful. In this way, let it make up for the sin he committed.

That is, let it erase it. Yes.
