Translation

Whenever a Prophet came from Allah, confirming the book they have in their hands, a group among the People of the Book have turned their backs (abandoned it), as if they hadn’t had the knowledge (of the book of Allah).

Tafsir

When Allah (swt) foretold the coming of the Prophet of the End Times in the Torah in their possession, and the Jews knew this and waited for the Prophet of the End Times, and finally the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born, the Jews, although they knew and recognized that the Qur'an in the hands of the Prophet was a true Book sent by Allah, confirming the Torah in their possession, were angry that the Prophet did not come from among them, and they did not recognize him and turned away. They are such a people that if Allah had sent a prophet from among them, they would have found an excuse and turned away because of their hatred of Allah. Indeed, in the past, although He sent prophets from among them, they either denied them or killed them.

However, Allah gave them such opportunities that they did not take advantage of them, even though they recognized the Prophet who was with them according to the Torah. Their worldly interests have obscured the Hereafter and they have disregarded the Hereafter for the sake of worldly interests, exchanging a world that will perish for a world that will last, and they are a people who have wronged their own souls. May Allah protect us from such a fate.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 101.

When a prophet from Allah, confirming the book in their hands, came to them, a group of the People of the Book, as if they did not know Allah's book, threw it behind their backs, abandoned it.

As I said just a moment ago, these people on earth, with the desires of the nafs, because they chase worldly interests, do not recognise Allah, scripture or prophet. If, in their favour, within their own mental capacity, you say something that confirms their own superstitious views, they believe it. Apart from that, they believe nothing. How do you know, Hodja? Is there an example? There is. Two people among the Jews commit adultery.

They are respected people.

Although the book in their own hands also says adulterers are to be stoned, they say: a new prophet has sprung up. Go to (?). If he gives you a ruling other than stoning, accept it. If he rules stoning, do not accept it, they say. They come and ask. I am telling it verse by verse. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) says to them: What is written in your book? he asks.

One of them, while reading his own book, puts his finger over the stoning. One of the Companions says: lift your finger. When he lifts his finger, the stoning is seen. And they turn around and go back. Whatever Allah said at first, our Lord (?) says the same.

Yes. Even, 'we', they say, 'for the one who commits adultery, we (?) the person on a donkey, and smear black on their faces. We parade them from neighbourhood to neighbourhood,' they say. So they turn their backs on Allah's book. And what does Allah Almighty say? When a prophet came to them from Allah, confirming the book in their hands, a group of the People of the Book, as if they did not know Allah's book, threw it behind their backs, abandoned it. They defied Allah's commands. Allah Almighty, in the Torah in their hands, announced that the prophet of the end times would come, and the Jews too knew this and awaited the prophet of the end times; and when finally Muhammad (peace be upon him) came into the world, the Jews knew that the Quran in the Prophet's hands, confirming the Torah in their own hands, was a true book sent by Allah, and yet, although they recognised it, angry that the Prophet had not come from among them, they did not recognise him. They turned away and left.

They are such a people that out of their grudge against Allah, had Allah Almighty sent a prophet from among them, they would again have found an excuse, turned their backs and left. He sent Jesus from among them. What did they do? They tried to hang him.

They also sawed Zechariah (peace be upon him) inside a tree trunk. They murdered John in prison. Yes.

Indeed, in the past, although He sent prophets from among them, they either denied those prophets or killed them. Yet Allah gave them such opportunities that, although they recognised the prophet among them according to the ruling of the Torah, they could not benefit from him. Their worldly interests have veiled the hereafter from them, and for worldly gain they disregarded the hereafter, exchanged a world that will perish with the eternal world, and are a people who have wronged their own souls. May Allah protect us from such an end. Yes.
