Al-Baqarah 185: The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down as a guidance for mankind as a proclamation of the truth and a measure to separate right from wrong. So, those who witness the month (of Ramadan), they should fast. Those who are sick or are travelers, they should fast on other days (for as many days as they have missed). Allah wants ease for you, not difficulty. (All) this is so that you may fulfill the period and be grateful towards Allah for showing you the right path.

Tafsir
The month of Ramadan is described as a guide. Then it is stated that the Holy Quran was revealed in this month. Yes, the month of Ramadan is indeed a month that is known as a guiding month, a month that separates the right from the wrong, that is, the truth from falsehood. Because the Qur'an was revealed in this month. This is the virtue of this month. Because Laylat al-Qadr is in this month. The virtue of Laylat al-Qadr is that the Holy Qur'an was revealed in its entirety from the Levh-i Mahfuz to the place called Bayt al-Izzah.
Again, the Holy Qur'an began to be revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) on the night of Qadr, on Mount Hira. Since the Holy Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) in the month of Ramadan, it is meant here that the Holy Qur'an is meant to be a guide for people, to distinguish the false from the true, as clear proofs. It is the month in which the Holy Qur'an was revealed as a guide to mankind, as clear proofs to distinguish the false from the true. This is how Allah (swt) emphasizes the virtue of Ramadan in this verse.
Therefore, in such a virtuous month, it is an obligation on people to honor and thank Allah (swt) for sending the Holy Qur'an out of His Mercy to guide people, to show them the right and the wrong, to teach them what they do not know, and to guide them. And if Allah (swt), who created us, commands us in His verse to fast, then fasting has become obligatory for people in Ramadan in obedience to the command of Allah (swt).
(So those of you who realize the month of Ramadan, fast in it) Allah commands those who have reached the month of Ramadan, i.e. those who have reached the age of reason and are alive and living in the month of Ramadan and are obliged to fast, to fast in that month.
(Whoever is sick or a traveler at that time, let him make up the number of days he missed on other days) Allah (swt) does not show hardship to people in His verse. He does not torment the human soul and does not even want to be tormented. Even if a person is afflicted with a disease, if that person trusts in Allah at the time of that disease, Allah will forgive that person's sins in return for that disease, and that disease will atone for his sins.
Therefore, when people reach the month of Ramadan and fall ill, Allah (swt) permits them not to fast until they regain their health. Also, those who are on a journey and cannot break their fast are permitted not to fast until they return to their homes, because they will be inconvenienced. But whoever does good deeds in addition to this, i.e. fasts and knows their place in My Land.
(All this is so that you may complete the number, and so that you may honor Allah and be grateful to Him for showing you the right path). The month of Ramadan is sometimes thirty and sometimes twenty-nine. In this respect, the lunar months are one day short of the Gregorian calendar, so the month of Ramadan is ten days short of the Gregorian calendar in a year, so it goes around all the months of the Gregorian calendar. In order to complete these numbered days in the month of Ramadan, we should fast the fasts that we could not keep during Ramadan, and after Ramadan, we should fast the days in place of these days and complete the number of days, in order to receive the mercy of Allah (swt) upon us.
What is said in the video
The month of Ramadan is a guide for people.
It is the month in which the Quran was sent down as clear proofs of the right and of separating right from wrong, the month. The month of Ramadan.
How beautifully Allah Almighty says it. That the Quran is the proof by which right and wrong are separated, a proof that holds light and radiance before people, in the month of Ramadan, on the 27th night of Ramadan, called Qadr, His sending it down all at once to a region called Qadr at Sidrat al-Muntaha, from the Lawh al-Mahfuz, and from there, the verses being recited to the Prophet bit by bit by Gabriel, the Trustworthy. Pay attention. Pay attention to these words of mine. His reciting them to the Prophet. Whereas the Prophet had already received those verses into his heart from Allah Almighty beforehand.
How does he know? There is a verse, that is how I know. Which verse? Look what it says in the verse.
When We begin to reveal to Our servant, the verses, He says, when We begin to reveal, Satan insists, He says, on trying to tempt him.
Now I am reading you the wrong interpretation. I am saying it so you know I am reading it. We cancel Satan's temptation, and make Our revelation known to him firmly, it says. Whereas Allah does not cancel Satan's temptation. Allah does not interfere with anyone's will. So what is this? We place Our revelation firmly in the heart of Our servant. Satan's temptation strikes against it and is nullified. It strikes against that revelation and is nullified. So is there such a verse that supports this? Of course there is. Over My servant who knows Me, Satan's (?), He says. (?), He says. So Allah had supposedly cancelled it, the verse.
Satan's temptation. They have always described Allah according to their own minds. So when we separate truth from falsehood and speak the truth, they try to condemn us, saying it goes against the spirit of the Quran.
When it comes to falsehood, to those things that go against the spirit of the Quran, and although a law is in force that, however the Quran is interpreted, in no way interferes with them, when it comes to us, people who turn their backs on Allah, saying it goes against the spirit of the Quran, or, to protect that position, people who sell Allah's word for material gain, try in this way to sprinkle falsehood over the truth. However much falsehood is dashed against the Truth. It is just like cigarette smoke, like a person blowing cigarette smoke onto some object and it doing that object no harm but dispersing there.
Against the Truth, falsehood achieves nothing. Falsehood is doomed to perish. Before the Truth. In this case, in this case, since every person has come to this world to hold himself as witness to himself, to those around him and to Allah Almighty, of course a person will play, as an actor in this world, the script of the covenant he gave in the world of the hereafter, and prove what kind of person he is. Did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are, according to the verse?
Yes.
We read the verse again. And we continue our lesson.
The month of Ramadan is a guide for people. It is the month in which the Quran was sent down as clear proofs of the right and of separating right from wrong, the month. So whoever of you witnesses the month of Ramadan, let him fast in it. Whoever is ill or travelling at that time, let him make up the days he could not fast on other days, in the same number. Allah wants ease for you, not hardship. All this is so that you complete the number and, in return for His showing you the right path, glorify Allah and give thanks.
The month of Ramadan is described as a guide. And after that it is declared that the Quran was sent down in this month. Yes, the month of Ramadan is truly a month known as a guide, as separating the crooked from the straight, that is, truth from falsehood. Because the Quran came down in this month. The virtue of this month comes from this as well. Because the Night of Qadr is within this month, and the virtue of the Night of Qadr is that the Quran was sent down all at once from the Lawh al-Mahfuz to the station called Bayt al-Izza, that is it. Bayt al-Izza. And within Bayt al-Izza it comes to the station called Qadr.
What is this like? The place we are in is the Taşoluk neighbourhood.
Kemerburgaz Street.
Yes. I suppose that is understood. At Sidrat al-Muntaha, in the place called Bayt al-Izza, it comes down to the location called Qadr.
Again, the Quran, on the Night of Qadr, on Mount Hira, began to come to the Prophet (peace be upon him) as revelation. The first revelation comes on Mount Hira.
Were you on Mount Hira too? Some miracles appeared there, miracles of Allah. On Mount Hira. There, first, what caught my attention: two rocks, as if specially made, just like this, with the space between them empty, and on top of them a rock that forms an umbrella. Did you put cranes there? How did you put that rock there? This is the first miracle our Lord puts before people's eyes, but people do not see it. Second, I said let me pray there, and the scent of the Black Stone and the scent of roses mingled together. In your hair, you know, when a person bathes and the wind blows over the wet hair, (?), such a state, and in that scent you lose yourself. The scent of the Black Stone, the scent of our Lord.
The scent of roses, the scent of the Prophet. There they mingled together. I lived through these. That is, if a person looks not with these eyes here, but also with the eyes of the heart, if he tries to look, he will witness many things there.
Yes.
Because the Quran came to our Prophet as revelation in the month of Ramadan, what is meant here is the Quran as that which distinguishes crooked from straight. It is the month in which the Quran was sent down as a guide for people, separating falsehood from truth, as clear proofs, the month. In the verse, Allah Almighty emphasizes the virtue of the month of Ramadan in this way. Yes.
So, for His sending, in such a virtuous month, the Quran out of His mercy, to bring people to guidance, to show them the right and the crooked, to teach them what they did not know, to guide them, to remember Allah Almighty with reverence and to give thanks is an obligation upon people. And if Allah Almighty who created us commands us in His verse to keep your fast, then in obedience to Allah Almighty's command fasting has become obligatory for people in the month of Ramadan.
With the verse, whoever of you witnesses the month of Ramadan, let him fast in it, Allah Almighty commands those who reach the month of Ramadan, that is, who live to see it and are in it, who are sane and mature and for whom fasting is obligatory, to fast in that month. It is His command. In the verse, whoever is ill or travelling at that time, let him make up the days he could not fast on other days in the same number, Allah Almighty does not impose hardship on people. He does not torment the human self, and does not even want it to be tormented. Even if an illness has come to a person, at the time of that illness, through the person's trust in Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty forgives that person's sins in return for his illness, and that illness becomes an atonement for his sins.
Yes.
For this reason, if a person reaches the month of Ramadan and falls ill, until he regains his health Allah Almighty permits him not to fast. And for one who sets out on a journey, since he will suffer hardship, those who are travelling and cannot break their fast properly are also permitted not to fast until they return to their homes. That is permitted. Now, in all of fiqh, in creed, in kalam, in hadith, in all 17 sciences, it is taken from the verses of the Quran.
You can neither give a fatwa that contradicts the verses of the Quran, nor lead people in advice, as a guide, sir. If you do not know the verses of the Quran, if you do not know them, you will err. Today in the Diyanet there is a sermon office. There is a fatwa office. It gives fatwas. It says to the man, the man explains. I have such and such a situation, he says. He opens the book. Whichever it more or less matches, he gives a fatwa in that way. A person unaware of himself. Whereas what is that man describing? Which verse does what he describes correspond to?
You must tell him the sharia ruling corresponding to that verse. That is a fatwa.
People unaware of these things.
For this reason, if people reach the month of Ramadan and fall ill, until they regain their health Allah Almighty permits the person not to fast. And for one who sets out on a journey, since he will suffer hardship in the land, those who are travelling and cannot break their fast properly are permitted to keep their fast until they return home. It is permitted. It is permitted for them not to fast. But whoever along with this does a good deed, that is, keeps his fast, and (?), He commands. I sometimes travel in the month of Ramadan. I never break my fast.
Well, I have a car under me. The place I am going is four hours, four hours away. My time passes anyway, time passes.
And where I go, I go and break my fast there. Where I go there is our home or our association. The meals are ready. And even if there is no food at your home, today I have every means wherever you go. Go, sit in a restaurant, eat your meal, break your fast. Or mostly I go to the seaside. Get a fish and eat it nicely in the open air. How lovely.
As long as a person is sincere towards Allah.
All this is so that you complete the number and, in return for His showing you the right path, glorify Allah and give thanks. How could you not give thanks? He has given you health. He has given you every means. He has made you vicegerent on earth.
He has made things easy for you wherever you go. You don't go on foot as in the old days. You don't go hungry on the back of an animal. You have a car under you. You go wherever you want. You have a plane. From wherever you want to wherever you want, however far it may be, you go. Well then, if to Allah, who offers you these blessings, you say, I am travelling, I won't fast, that is a kind of weakness of faith. Yes, He gives you permission. Allah never goes back on His promise. But He says, whoever keeps it despite this, and his, He says, reward with Him (?). He says this to cut those who are close to their nafs off from such carnal feelings this way. Yes.
All this is so that you complete the number and, in return for His showing you the right path, glorify Allah and give thanks. The month of Ramadan sometimes lasts 30, sometimes 29 days. For this reason, because the lunar months are one day shorter compared with the Gregorian calendar, and because the month of Ramadan is 10 days shorter within a year, it moves through all the months of the Gregorian calendar. So, to complete these numbered days in the month of Ramadan, our fasting after Ramadan, in place of those days, the fasts we could not keep during Ramadan, day for day, and completing the number, is so that we attain Allah Almighty's mercy upon us.
That is why.
