Al-Ma'idah 32: And it was due to this that We wrote the following to the sons of Israel; “if one kills a person (unjustly) for a reason other than killing another person or causing mischief on earth, it is as if that person killed the whole of mankind. And if one saves a life, it is as if that person saved the whole of mankind. Our Prophets have brought to them clear proofs but after this, most of them still transgress on earth.

We come to the thirty-second verse.

It is for this reason that We wrote for the Children of Israel: Whoever, not in return for a soul or for spreading corruption in the land, unjustly takes a life, it is as if he had killed all mankind.

Our messengers brought them clear proofs, but even after that many of them still go to excess in the land, says Allah Almighty. Many. Isn't that how it is today? The (?) of the earth. Everywhere, everywhere, used to shedding blood, like the vampires, you know. Imaginary vampires, of course. They show them in films. Bloodsuckers. Yes. Even worse than those vampires. Worse than those vampires, than (?). The accursed people of the earth. Accursed. And yet, and yet, this accursed people is being chased, the world is behind them. People who stand behind those Allah has cursed — so they too are like them. Someone whom Allah has cursed, I do not regard as a human being — and I say this for myself.

Someone Allah has called accursed, I do not regard as a human being. Because our Lord says in the verse: They are like the four-legged beasts on the earth. Even further astray in their way, He says. And the accursed are even worse than that. So if they are like four-legged beasts on the earth, even further astray in their way, are they to be counted as human beings, would you deal with them as such?

In this case, who has attached themselves to whom, who is with whom — people, through the actual deeds they so nicely do, openly and publicly make one another, Allah, those around and themselves witnesses to it. Ve kuntum ezvâcen selâseh. All the groups (?) classes. Fe ashâbu'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbu'l-meymeneh. (?) — glad tidings to them, He says. Ve ashâbu'l-meş'emeti mâ ashâbu'l-meş'emeh. (?) — woe to them, He says. Ve's-sâbikûne's-sâbikûn. Ulâike'l-mukarrabûn. Fî cennâti'n-naîm. We speak of a third group. The group of the foremost. They are those near to Allah. The group of the saints, the prophets, the martyrs, the witnesses.

O human, in a passing worldly life, against your Lord who created the worlds, with arrogance and pride, if you turn your back on your Lord, this act of yours befits neither humanity nor reason. So you are the very picture of the senseless and the fool. Senseless and foolish. Who would do this? Fools do, madmen do. If you pass yourself off as clever, we count you neither as a clever person nor as a human being. So the (?) of the earth, like vampires sucking people's blood on the earth — look at them, all usury and interest-dealing is in their hands. Their eyes see nothing but the world. Their whole existence is for the world.

Allah Almighty says in His verse: Even if they had a thousand years of life, He says, they would want to live another thousand years. Another thousand years. They don't want to leave the world. But those who love Allah are not like that. They are ready at every moment for Allah's command. They are ready for death. Though the Prophet says, do not wish for death. Staying a thousand moments in the world is better than lying a thousand years under the ground, he says. Why does he say that? If you know Allah and say "Allah" once, he says, Allah — because it accords with Allah's purpose in creating people, you have earned reward, he says.

Reward. That is, since our Lord created man so that His Essence be known, if a person says "Allah" once, it accords with Allah's purpose of creation. But there is a great difference between the other and this person. One — his life in the world, leaving the world — has already given up hope in the hereafter, about whether it exists or not he is already in doubt; between this person's way of thinking and the other's love and affection in his heart as he says "Allah", between the two there are incomparable abysses.

Yes.

We read the verse again. Let us read the verse once more. It is for this reason that We wrote for the Children of Israel: Whoever, not in return for a soul or for spreading corruption in the land — Not in return, that is. Whoever takes a life without cause, unjustly, it is as if he had killed all mankind.

It is not I who say this. Allah says it. Allah, who created us, the Owner of the worlds, says it. Today these events are unfolding before our eyes. These events are unfolding before our eyes. Taking lives unjustly, killing the oppressed, in a savagery that slaughters even little children, a savagery even barbarians would not commit — people who slaughter others savagely like monsters. Yes. As I just said, would you regard such people as human beings? Because the verses are about them. They are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth. Even further astray in their way, He says. Yes.

What does Allah Almighty say? Do not (?) Allah's limits. Do not transgress Allah's limits, He says. What does He say here? In the verse.

But even after that, many of them still go to excess in the land. That is, they have transgressed Allah's limits and go to excess. Those people who transgressed Allah's limits and went to excess have been cursed.

Cursed. If our Lord had not sent Muhammad (peace be upon him) into the world, these people would have been destroyed. Destroyed. Because Allah Almighty destroyed those who transgressed Allah's limits. Because the Prophet (peace be upon him) graced the world, the destructions were lifted. Why was destruction lifted? Ve mâ erselnâke illâ rahmeten li'l-âlemîn. I have sent you as a mercy to the worlds, He said. Mercy. The Prophet tasted death; since he is alive, alive, for his sake the destructions were lifted; afflictions remain. And our Lord rains down afflictions. For eyes that see: We give them two or three afflictions every year, He says.

two or three afflictions, (?), so that they may perhaps return, so that they remember Me, behind this affliction, so that perhaps they attain My attribute Tawwab and repent. But where is that understanding? Allah Almighty, free of any deficient attribute — tomorrow, on the Day of Judgment, no one will be able to say, "If You had given me an affliction, I would have remembered You." Storms beyond human power, gales, hurricanes, (?), volcanoes, earthquakes — does your eye not see, every year, with two or three afflictions, some people on earth being destroyed? Yes. But where is a person of reason who will learn a lesson from those afflictions?

Allah Almighty does not want people to spread corruption and mischief in the land. As for the people of Israel, by their nature, per the covenant they gave, since this people — in spreading corruption in the land and steeping everything in mischief, in spreading strife around — are the most fitting people, addressing them, We wrote upon them as follows, He says. We wrote as follows: That whoever on earth, not in return, without retaliation applied, without it being applied — the one who killed someone, him too — without it being a killing, takes a life unjustly, it is as if he had killed all mankind. The reason is that if a person kills a person unjustly, he has surely done it for his nafs.

Such a person does not value people's lives; all people are the same in his eyes. Wherever he gets the chance, this person will not refrain from killing people, from taking lives. Because that is his nature. Yes.

The Jews, the Jews are people with the same mentality. They, (?) that there is no person more valuable than themselves, and that other people were created to serve them — with this mentality, seeing in themselves the authority to decide over people like rulers, they kill people, unjustly attack lives, stir strife on earth, and regard it as permitted to them — such people they are. In this respect, people who drench the earth in blood and (?) the earth — for them one life is the same, all lives are the same. For them.

Yes.

Allah Almighty, supporting the Prophet He sent, says "Our Prophet". Our Lord, by our Prophet — the one He sent, "My prophet", He says. Allah Almighty. Using this expression: they brought them clear proofs. His saying this — telling them their own books, lifting some prohibitions in their books, bringing clear proofs, their scholars knowing that the Quran is the genuine word, and showing miracles, splitting the moon, (?), despite showing (?) miracles — look at the stubbornness of these people.

Although verses were sent by Allah Almighty and the Prophet showed miracles, and this people knew the book and the prophet that came to them were true — despite knowing, out of stubbornness and hatred, many of them, opposing Allah and His Messenger, again went to excess in the land. They did not obey Allah and His Messenger.

Nor will they. Because since our Lord called them an accursed people — our Lord does not call anyone accursed for nothing. If His word holds until the Day of Judgment, such accursed people will come until the Day of Judgment from among them. From among them. To note the exceptions: Among them, He says, there are people who pray, fast and give zakat, He says. Among them. But they cannot reveal themselves, He says. Yes.
