For those who battle against Allah and Allah’s Messenger and strive to corrupt the Truth and justice on earth, the punishment is to be killed, to be hanged, their hands and feet to be cut crosswise or to be expelled from where they live. On the Day of Judgment, there is also great punishment for them.

Tafsir

(The punishment for those who fight against Allah and His Messenger and try to destroy the righteous order is death without mercy). Up to this point in the verse, the punishment for those who attempt to abolish Islam, for those who oppose the Verses sent by Allah and do not recognize His Prophets, is death. This law of Allah gives life to other people. People who subvert Allah's justice and try to make laws according to their own minds, laws that protect the interests of a certain group of people and bring oppression to other people. However, in the sight of Allah, whether the people living on earth are believers, pagans who do not recognize Allah, or people who are involved in different ideologies outside the religion of Islam, Allah gives life to them with His attribute of Mercifulness as long as they live. He wants them to complete their lives without oppressing any human being. In this respect, Allah's laws are true. These laws give life to people.

However, if the enemies of Allah, those who want to enjoy their nafs in the temporary worldly pleasures, for their worldly interests, for their own benefit, by opposing the Messenger and the Verses sent by Allah, by destroying the righteous order, by wreaking havoc for their own benefit, do not listen to the laws sent by Allah (swt), the punishment of such people in this world is death.

(Either they are to be hanged, or their hands and feet are to be cut off crosswise, or they are to be expelled from their homes). The section so far refers to punishments for armed robbery or both robbery and manslaughter that violate the territorial integrity of a state or the peace of the population.

People who commit such crimes are punished according to their crimes. For example, if a person kills another person, the person who killed him in return is also killed, and they are not hanged. If they repeatedly kill people and rob people of their property, they will be hanged to death. Their crimes will be written on their chest and they will be exposed to the people. If they did not kill a man but extorted property, the amount of the extortion may be twenty dirhams of silver or its equivalent. If they have usurped, their hands and feet will be cut off crosswise. Their hands are cut off to prevent them from harming anyone's property again, and their feet are cut off because they frightened people by making the roads unsafe. As for the expulsion of people from their places, if they engage in behaviors such as disrupting the public, fabricating baseless fabrications, exciting the nation, stirring up mischief, provocation, etc., they are punished with imprisonment or expulsion from their places.

The reason why these punishments are applied in this way is that Allah (swt) gives people the right to life. Such punishments are meant to act as a deterrent against crimes committed by people who would harm others, and to give the right to life to both the person who commits the crime and the person whose property or life is to be usurped.

The people who commit these crimes, the people who ignore the laws sent by Allah, who are deceived by the temporary worldly blessings, who cause bloodshed, who wreak havoc, will be subjected to great punishments in the Hereafter in the sight of Allah, and that their place in the Hereafter will be Hell, where they will be among the losers and will suffer great torment. Allah (swt), who sent human beings to an unseen realm, informs people of His laws by giving them the right to life, no matter who they are, whether they are believers or non-believers, whether they are pagans or non-believers, by giving them the right to life, and by saying My mercy is for everyone in the universe. By giving people the right to life, He does not want any human being to oppress any other human being. At the end of life, when people pass on to the Hereafter, it is up to Allah to punish them according to the covenants they have made with Allah, through the events He has created for them and the actions they have committed, by making people witness them.

What is said in the video

being hanged, or having their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or being banished from where they are.

Yes.

And for them in the hereafter there is a great punishment.

So those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, that is, these, these are people who strive to abolish the religion of Islam. Those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger.

Who are they, really? Aren't there any in our time? There are. There are. Spending trillions, in our country doing (?) in order to (?) the Christian religion, and in doing so, from the state, from the State Security Court, there are people who get permission. There are people who get permission.

Doing Christian (?), drawing people away from Islam and trying to convert them to their own religion, those striving to abolish Islam, pouring out trillions,

are these not at war against Allah and His Messenger? Yes.

Of those who try to destroy the order of truth, that is, who try to abolish the rule of sharia, that is, who try to abolish Islam — their punishment is only that they be killed without mercy — but unfortunately, never mind killing them, there are people who follow them, in masses, in masses there are people who follow them. Or that they be hanged, or their hands and feet be cut off on opposite sides, or that they be banished from where they are. And for them in the hereafter there is a great punishment.

O human, carried away by this passing world, your life of a few hours — your life of a few hours in the world compared to the hereafter — compared to what do we say this? A thousand years of the world are like one day of the hereafter. In your lifetime you live in the world for about an hour or two. If you trade this time of an hour or two against the eternal abode of bliss of the hereafter, what are you if not a fool? When you see yourself as clever and (?) to other people, in truth, beside other people, that is, beside the believers, that cleverness of yours is a look of madness. Yes. It is your conveying your own baseness and vulgarity to the believer.

But in your own world you are someone who sees himself as very high and thinks himself master of the world. Yet tomorrow (?) all your deeds will come to nothing. Those in your house will be lost too. Where is my wealth, my property? Where are my children, my family — on that day you say this, they will all turn away from you. In the hereafter. Then, when you understand the truth, your lamenting will mean nothing.

Of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, who try to destroy the order of truth, the punishment is only that they be killed without mercy. The part of the verse up to here: for those who attempt to abolish Islam, who oppose the verses Allah sent and do not recognize His prophets, the punishment is death. Yes.

Here let us bring some clarity here.

Today, if there are those who fight in this way — in a time of peace, one tries to destroy the order of truth, but he fights it with his ideas.

If he had launched a jihad, a jihad against you, that is, launched a jihad with force, with his force, then killing him becomes obligatory. You may kill him. Because he has launched a jihad against you. With force. With his cannon, his rifle, his (?), whatever.

This law of Allah grants life to other people. People who, tearing down Allah's justice, try to make laws as they please, — protecting the interests of a certain group, theirs are laws bringing oppression to other people. Whereas Allah's law is the one He made, from seventy to seventy, without distinguishing among His servants. But man, by his own nafs, is a lord. He will have immunity. He will have his own laws. Even if he kills people, no one will call him to account. Because he is the ruler of himself, the commander of his own judgment. Those who make laws in this way, who commit injustice among people on earth — these are laws that protect the interests of a certain group and bring oppression to other people.

Whereas in Allah's religion, the people living on earth — be they believers, or idolaters who do not know Allah, or people within various ideologies outside the religion of Islam — Allah gives them life for as long as they live, through His attribute Rahman.

So, as we said, let us make a distinction with the verses — in this distinction, only when he uses force against you do these situations arise. That is, when he wages jihad — if with force, cannon, rifle and weapon you set out to abolish the religion, then this time you engage in struggle against it in this way.

Without letting any person oppress any person, He wants them to complete their lives — Allah Almighty. In this respect Allah's laws are true; these laws are (?) life to people. Whether sultan or commoner, Allah's laws are equal between the two. You know the story of Fatih. When Fatih was having a mosque built, he tells his engineer: you will build this like so. But because the engineer did not follow the way he showed and did as he saw fit, he has the engineer's hand cut off. He has the engineer's, that architect's, hand cut off. Thereupon the architect takes Fatih to court. To the court — they say to the architect: this sultan should pay you the blood money for your hand — I don't want it, he says; before the trial even starts they tell the architect: let him grant you a lifelong salary, all your wishes let him fulfil, sir.

I want none of it, he says. According to your religion, I want Allah's law, he says. Allah's law.

Thereupon the court is convened. The court. It is seen that the architect is in the right. The architect is right; Fatih's hand is to be cut off, the verdict is given; at that moment the architect turns and says: I, your — the architect is a non-Muslim — I wanted to see the justice of your religion, he says. I have waived the retaliation owed to me on Fatih's hand; I have forgiven, he says. Fatih turns to the judge. Had you given a wrong verdict, he says, with this sword in my hand he says, I would have cut off your head, he says. (?) to the judge; and the judge says, like this, from on top of the chest he gets up, opens the chest, and underneath are lions.

And you, he says, my sultan, to me, he says, the moment you had tried to rule over me, he says, I would have set these lions upon you, he says.

That is the justice of Islam.

With this justice they made the world tremble.

Allah, with His verses, says so behind those who were (?). Our Lord — according to the verse "Who is more faithful to his word than Allah?" — they, in the end, to us, through what they did, as examples, left this religion of Islam as inheritance. What will we leave to our children?

As inheritance, the greatest inheritance is a father leaving his religion to his child. Because it is everlasting, religion is everlasting, of this world and of the hereafter.

As for worldly wealth, as the saying goes, death is certain, inheritance is lawful — it is passing worldly goods. So they left us the greatest inheritance. Through their dying, their deeds, their actions, their (?), they left us the religion firm and secure. Do we call ourselves to account? What will we leave to our children? Tomorrow, when we are questioned in the presence of our Lord, what will we say, what will we reply? Yes. We will ask ourselves this. And we will tell those around us too.

Yes. But the enemies of Allah, for their worldly interests, looking after their own gain, opposing the Messenger Allah sent and His verses, to abolish the order of truth, drowning everything in corruption for their own interests, in the passing worldly blessings, wronging their souls, if they do not listen to the laws Allah Almighty sent, the punishment of such people in this world is death. Yes.

Or that they be hanged, their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or that they be banished from where they are, He says. The part up to here, against a state's territorial integrity or the people's peace — armed, robbery, or both robbery and murder — refers to the punishments to be given in such cases. As I said earlier, if he opposes you using force and might, for the people in this there is the death penalty. And here, the punishments of people who commit crimes thus are given according to the crimes they commit. And Allah Almighty shows the way. For example, when a person kills a person, in return the killer is also put to death.

They are killed for (?). If they repeatedly both kill people and (?) people's property, they are put to death by hanging. It becomes a lesson to the world. And they would display them to people for a day or two, and on them they would write the crime they committed. People would come and look at them there. I know it from my childhood. Saathane Square — in Samsun, in Saathane Square, they hanged people. People would go and see them, the hanged.

The crimes they committed are written on their chests. They are displayed to people. If they did not kill but committed robbery, the amount of this robbery may be 21 (?) of silver or any goods equal to that. 20 lira (?) of silver. It no longer counts its (?) as robbery. Above that. If he has committed robbery, if they (?), their hands and feet are cut off on opposite sides. On opposite sides.

The cutting of their hands — the purpose of the cutting is that they never again harm anyone's property. The cutting of their feet is because, destroying the safety of the roads, they frightened people, we say. It is because, destroying the safety of the roads, they frightened people. As for people being banished from where they are: if they, inventing baseless fabrications that will corrupt the public, stirring up the nation, spreading mischief, engage in behavior like provocation, a prison sentence or the penalty of banishment from their place is applied.

The application of these punishments in this way is Allah, Mighty and Majestic and Most Holy, granting people the right to life. The right to life. Punishments like these among people, in the crimes that those who would harm people would commit, play a deterrent role, so that both the one who would commit the crime and the one whose property or life would be seized are denied the right to life. I mean, so that they are granted it. It is so that the one who would rob is granted the right to life. That the people who commit these crimes, ignoring the laws Allah sent, deceived by passing worldly blessings, drenching everything in blood and spreading corruption — that they will be sentenced to great punishments by Allah in the hereafter too, and that in the hereafter their place is the fire of hell, that there, from loss to loss, they will be among those who suffer, and that they will see a great punishment — this our Lord informs us.

Allah Almighty, who sends people to a (?) world, with these laws, whoever they may be, whether believer or unbelieving idolater, granting them the right to life, with His verse saying My mercy is for everyone in the universe, makes His laws known to people. Giving people the right to life, He does not want any person to torment any person. The covenants people gave to Allah — in proportion to them, through the events He created for people, the deeds they wished, as a result of the deeds they did, making people witnesses against themselves, at the end of life, when people pass on to the hereafter, the giving of their punishments belongs to Allah. Yes.
