Say; “The filthy and evil is not equal to the pure and good. (This is true) even if you find the abundance of the filthy and bad strange (if you like it). Oh you who have reason; fear Allah so that you will reach salvation.”
Tafsir
Allah (swt) teaches people the good and the bad by showing them the paths of guidance. People who do bad deeds and evil deeds are not the same as people who do good deeds and good deeds. Surely every soul will be held accountable for what it has earned. Accordingly, a person who does good by doing good deeds is not the same in the sight of Allah as a person who does evil by doing evil deeds and causes mischief.
Allah (swt) has also revealed what is forbidden and unclean in food and drink. Allah (swt) has also revealed the good and bad paths to people. If a person eats and drinks forbidden things and forsakes the straight paths shown by Allah and follows the marshy and dark paths shown by the nafs and the devil, and if he chooses the evil path of his own will, and if he likes that path, then he has voluntarily purchased torment for himself, and the end of that path is Hell, and he will suffer eternal torment there.
If they are pure and good, if they consider what Allah has made lawful lawful for their own souls and what Allah has made unlawful unlawful for their own souls, and if they abstain from Allah's commands and prohibitions, these people will be rewarded in the sight of Allah, and the path they follow will be the straight path. Even if they don't like this path, at the end of the straight path they will reach Paradise and eternal bliss.
(O you of understanding, fear Allah so that you may attain salvation.) If a person loves someone most, Allah is the one most worthy of being loved. And if a person fears someone the most, Allah is the one most worthy to be feared. If these people love and fear Allah the most, then Allah will open the doors of guidance for them and lead them to victory.
Every intelligent person knows that there is an Allah who created this universe and us. And Allah, the Creator, has sent His laws through Prophets and Books so that people may know Him. Those who submit to the Books and Prophets sent by Allah, who know Allah as One and realize that there is no other refuge but Him, and who use their intellect, will be saved.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 100. Our Lord says in the verse: Say, the filthy and bad and the clean and good are not the same. The filthy and bad and the clean and good are not the same. (?) are not the same. Are those who know and those who do not know ever the same? The filthy and bad are not the same as the clean and good either. Even if the abundance of the filthy and bad (?), pleases you, it is so, it says. Even if it pleases you. For example, drinking alcohol pleases you, but it is filthy and bad. Filthy. Allah Almighty has forbidden it. These are forbidden.
Interest money pleases you, for example. But those too are bad dealings. Bad dealings. Allah Almighty has forbidden it. Whoever gets into such dealings, it says — interest dealings — has (?) Allah and His Messenger, it says. So, O people of reason, fear Allah so that you attain salvation, it says. Fear Allah.
That is, Allah Almighty informs us through His verses that this world is temporary. And that people who come as guests to this temporary world will one day taste death and tomorrow, at the Resurrection, in the presence of Allah Almighty, be called to account — He reminds us of this. Our Lord, by showing us the filthy and bad and the good and clean as examples, is inviting us to guidance, to salvation — inviting people.
By showing people the paths of guidance, Allah Almighty shows the good and the bad to people as an example. He shows the good and the bad to people as examples. Those who do bad deeds and commit bad acts and those who do good deeds and commit good acts are not the same.
For example, consider it like this. You are a worker in a factory.
Your supervisor tells you to do it like this. You say: at once. You try to do it as far as your strength allows. Your supervisor surely keeps the people he employs under control. He sees what they do. In this case, with your saying 'at once' and doing it as far as you can, your supervisor is pleased with your actions. But if he told you: do this like this, and never do that like that — and you, inclining your heart to what pleases your nafs, to what he said not to do, are held accountable for that work, what does he do? He dismisses you. Perhaps he removes you from the job. Likewise, if such people overstep Allah Almighty's limits, they become eternal people of hell. Those who overstep the limits.
Those who push the limits, too, according to the covenant they gave, become sinners. Or else they become eternal people of hell. Therefore, people occupying themselves with good and clean works is fulfilling Allah Almighty's command upon us, which brings us to guidance. To guidance.
So, by showing people the paths of guidance, Allah Almighty shows the good and the bad to people as examples. Those who do bad deeds and commit bad acts and those who do good deeds and commit good acts cannot be the same. Surely every soul will be called to account for what it has earned. What does Allah Almighty say in His verse? This — what does it mean? With the partial will I gave you, with the judgements you made, with the actual deeds you carried out, you alone are responsible, it says. He places the responsibility on us. In this case, that every soul, with what it has earned, will be called to account by our Lord in the world of the hereafter — Allah Almighty reminds us of this.
Accordingly, a person who does good by doing good deeds and a person who, by doing bad deeds, spreads corruption around are not the same in the sight of Allah. Of course they are not the same. For Allah Almighty is the Possessor of justice. Allah Almighty is the Judge of judges. With His verse 'Who is truer to His word than Allah?', He, in His attribute of Judge of judges — everyone's earnings — on the Day of Resurrection, at the supreme court, without wronging anyone — what everyone has earned, as the recompense of their own two hands, will be given to them in full. Because Allah Almighty loves His creatures so much, because He gives people very great value, to keep people from evil in this unseen world He sends the Holy Quran before us as a light and radiance, and as a source of guidance He addresses people with the verses of the Holy Quran.
O people! Do not be deceived by the world. For the actual deeds you have done in this temporary world, you will be called to account — do not forget it. With every verse He both warns us in this way and proves to us the greatness of His Being, explains it. Allah Almighty has also made known which foods and drinks are forbidden and filthy. We. What are the forbidden and filthy foods and drinks? Alcohol is forbidden. Pork, carrion and blood are forbidden. Animals not slaughtered in Allah's name are forbidden.
Are these and the actual deeds carried out apart from them ever the same? One is slaughtered in Allah's name, the other is not slaughtered in Allah's name. That is, slaughtered in the name of idols. Someone has made grapes, or rather, alcohol, and put it into his body. This trust Allah Almighty gave us he has (?). He has made it haram. Now, that forbidden thing he put into his body, and the vegetables Allah Almighty made clean and good for us, the fruits, or these meats, seafood, the meats of birds in the air that He made lawful — are these ever the same? With one you eat with good appetite; with the other you get drunk, or with the forbidden things, through the germs you have taken into your body, you leave yourself to every kind of disease open and exposed.
And then you set about blaming Allah Almighty. In this case, when people, with what Allah Almighty made pure and clean for us, observe our Lord's commands and eat and drink from the lawful, their bodies also attain purity. Their hearts do not darken. The worldly attachments and evils in their hearts also disappear. Allah Almighty places His light in that heart. His light. Yes. Allah Almighty has made known which foods and drinks are forbidden and filthy. Allah Almighty has also made known the good and bad paths to people. Man eats and drinks forbidden things, and the straight paths Allah has shown he abandons. If he travels the swampy and dark paths the nafs and Satan show, he chooses the bad path he takes by his own wish and desire, and if he advances on that path, by his own will his own torment — himself, his torment — he has bought, as we say.
Yes. The end of the path he takes is hell, and there he is eternally abiding. Eternally. Yes.
So man in this transient world — transient meaning that every soul will taste death and will surely depart from here; we say it meaning that. In this transient world man, within a lifespan of one or two hours — I say this relative to the world of the hereafter. For a thousand years here are like one day of the hereafter. So, within a lifespan of one or two hours, these one or two hours, to live it up, people who eat without regard to lawful or forbidden — how bad their end is, Allah Almighty tries to make known to us through His verses. What did we say just now? O man! If the pleasures of this world appeal to your nafs, never go along with them! If they appeal to your nafs.
For the human nafs, against Allah Almighty's command, is always like a (?). (?). It does not want to do it. Man's will masters that nafs. It stops what his nafs wants. And if he carries out Allah's commands, this person enters among the righteous servants. Hodja, when we say we will fulfil none of the nafs's wishes — the nafs, too, in its own way, to eat and drink and to sustain its life, it too needs some foods? For example, the Prophet says: rise while you are about to be full. Look, (?) not stuffing to the full. Even if it pleases you, rise while you are about to be full. Gambling, alcohol, interest — all the swampy paths are very pleasing.
Don't do these, it says. This means pushing the limits of Allah's verses. Don't do these. What your nafs wants to do within (?) — if you don't let your nafs do it and master it, in the sight of Allah you will be exalted.
So Allah Almighty shows people His paths. And man eats and drinks forbidden things and abandons the straight paths Allah has shown. If he travels the swampy and dark paths the nafs and Satan show, he chooses the bad path he takes by his own wish and desire, and if he advances on that path, by his own will he has himself bought the torment, and the end of the path he takes is hell, and there an eternal torment. An eternal torment. May Allah protect us. As we always say, (?) this world, even if the mountains move from their place, it says. Did you not see, (?), did you never hear? Yes. Did you never hear Allah's command upon us?
You will hear it.
If clean and good: if people consider lawful for their own selves what Allah has made lawful and count as forbidden what Allah has made forbidden, if they are mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions, these people attain rewards in the sight of Allah, and the path they have taken becomes the path of sirat al-mustaqim.
Not the Sirat bridge — it becomes the path of sirat al-mustaqim.
They do not cross the Sirat bridge. There was no such bridge (?). It becomes a straight path. A straight path. At the end of this straight path there is paradise, a path of eternal bliss.
Yes. That superstition, the Sirat bridge superstition, they have brought into the religion of Islam so much that they have completely set the verses aside. What does it say? For those righteous servants paradise (?), hell is forbidden, it says. Forbidden. The fire of hell is forbidden too. Paradise is moved away from them. When paradise is brought near, it says. Well, if hell is moved away and paradise brought near, and here you put all people into hell, with what reason, by which verse do you give this judgement? And will you not have denied this verse as well?
There is a Sirat bridge, they say. And then: this man is toying with our religious belief, they say. Just look at that! Superstition becomes religious belief. The verses are pushed aside. Although no one shows a verse about this, although they come to us, they do not want to accept it.
What does this show? Every person has a covenant given to Allah Almighty, and within this covenant a rank. No one can rise above his rank. How well people prove themselves. As we always say, I too knew it this way. Why should I lie? I forgot lying fifty years ago.
I too knew it this way. But when our Lord shows us a beautiful world, grants a beautiful knowledge, a beautiful wisdom, we understood that these are false and (?), and we are trying to explain it to people too.
Yes. What was it? If clean and good: if people consider lawful for themselves what Allah made lawful, count as forbidden what Allah made forbidden, are mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions, these people attain rewards in the sight of Allah, and the path they have taken is the path of sirat al-mustaqim. It is a straight path. So how does this straight path lead to hell? No — the path of sirat al-mustaqim. Don't you say it in the noble Fatiha? At the very end. I mean: O Allah, on that straight path, the right, upright path, keep me firm. Not among those who go on crooked paths — if you say that, how does this straight path enter hell? In the five daily prayers, the noble Fatiha in each rak'ah, within the five times, for example: the morning prayer, four rak'ahs; in four rak'ahs, two fard, two sunnah, you recite the noble Fatiha four times.
The noon prayer, ten rak'ahs, four fard, four sunnah, two final sunnah; you recite the noble Fatiha ten times. Afternoon, eight rak'ahs, four fard, four sunnah; you recite the noble Fatiha eight times. And the evening prayer, five rak'ahs, three fard, two sunnah; five times you recite the noble Fatiha. The night prayer: four sunnah, four fard, two final sunnah, (?) the vitr wajib; you pray thirteen rak'ahs, here too you recite the noble Fatiha thirteen times, you say: keep me on a straight, upright path, (?), do not let my feet slip, O Allah. Not the path of those who go on crooked paths, you say, and then you put yourself onto the path of those who go on the crooked path.
You leave that sirat al-mustaqim — are you entering hell? May Allah protect us.
So people do not use their reason. They are to use their reason.
Maybe I play with words. I deceive you with speech. With speech. But before the verses people go down on their knees. I too go down on my knees before them. I have to. But there is no verse at all
saying that people will enter hell. Everyone will supposedly pass over it. There is supposedly a Sirat bridge. They will supposedly fall down from it. While crossing that bridge, maces and hooks will supposedly strike people. Well, what did you base this on? Show one verse. For the sake of Allah, show one verse.
There is none. There is no such thing. And look what it says to show there is none. When the mountains are scattered from their place, it says. The earth in another state. In the hereafter, completely flat, it says. When the mountains have risen from their places and it has become completely flat, Israfil (?). There is no (?). All the dead will be resurrected. Look, it will be completely flat. Completely flat. Everyone will be gathered at the place of assembly, it says. At the place of assembly. Well, where is the Sirat bridge here? There is nothing either about crossing this bridge, the good ones being like this, the bridges like that.
No, there isn't. Although all the verses are like this, they have brought superstitions into our religion, they have judged by these superstitions; their religious beliefs (?) (?); such people's religious beliefs are supposedly being damaged. Well, of course they get damaged — if you judge by superstitions, if you don't use your reason; Allah Almighty to you: Will you not use your reason? Will you not reflect? If you are (?) without thinking, if you let (?) into your mind, of course, if you accept their ideologies as religion, then you will have damaged not your religious belief but your ideology.
So your ideologies must, before the religion, kneel down. I am explaining our religion. I am stating the verses. Yes. Could you turn that off? It's gotten hot.
Just press the top button. At the very top. The topmost one. Oh, it says on. Okay.
So, if clean and good: if people consider lawful for themselves what Allah made lawful and count as forbidden what Allah made forbidden, are mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions, these people, in the sight of Allah, rewards they attain. Reward. How can a person who is to be rewarded enter hell?
According to the verse, who buys paradise with their wealth and their lives? With their wealth and their lives. With their lives — if martyrs gave their lives for Allah, if martyrs gave their lives in return for paradise, Allah Almighty (?) put those martyrs into hell (?).
This is Allah, this is Allah. Yes. Everyone will supposedly go into hell once and come out. They will supposedly cross the Sirat bridge. They will supposedly be beaten with maces, I mean, with hooks. They will supposedly be in (?). (?) and so on, come on. Yes, the path they have taken becomes the path of sirat al-mustaqim, it becomes a straight path; at the end of this straight path there is paradise, an eternal abode of bliss. O people of reason! Fear Allah so that you attain salvation. If a person is to love someone the most, the one most worthy of love is Allah. And if a person is to fear someone the most, the one most worthy of being feared is Allah too. In this case — these are all verses.
Verses. In this case, if these people love Allah the most and fear Allah the most, Allah opens the doors of guidance to people who behave this way and leads them to victory. Yes.
Every person of reason knows that there is Allah who created this universe and us. Every person of reason knows this. And that Creator, Allah, has sent His laws with prophets and books so that people may know His Being.
Those who submit to the books and prophets Allah has sent know Allah as one and realise that there is no door to take refuge in other than Him. If they use their reason, they have attained salvation. That is the path of salvation anyway. Not: here you went into prison, got out of prison, you're saved. These are all the hardship of temporary worldly blessings or their pleasure. But that of the world of the hereafter is not temporary.
There is eternal hell and eternal paradise.
Except for those who are Muslims and enter hell temporarily. Their faith too will be perfected. In the end they will come out of hell. Yes.
