Translation

(We have sent them) to Pharaoh and his people. But they showed arrogance and became a nation that boasted.

Tafsir

When Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' and Hadrat Harun 'alaihis-salâm' were sent as Prophets to Pharaoh and his people, Pharaoh and his people denied the Prophets with greatness and grandeur. They looked down upon Hadrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' and his brother Harun 'alaihis-salâm'. They denied Allah and His Prophets, thinking that they were no different from other people and that people who served them as slaves could not be Prophets. Pride and self-will are the factors that prepare the disaster of human beings. Allah does not discriminate between His servants. The most beloved servants in the sight of Allah are those who acknowledge Allah in their hearts and worship Allah. The people whom Allah dislikes are those who think that their ego is superior to everything else and who are arrogant and conceited among people. Such people are alienated from Allah by this characteristic. These people are the oppressors of their own souls, preparing their own destruction. Pharaoh and his people were also arrogant and proud people who thought they were great, who made class distinctions between people, and who despised people and were full of arrogance and pride.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 46. To Pharaoh and his people; but they were arrogant and became a people who considered themselves high, He says. Oh, this world.

Although Allah Almighty created the worlds, look at the whims of the nafs in man. Look at that pride and arrogance. Look at this self-aggrandizement and haughtiness. This helpless man, man who is capable of nothing.

Or do you own even one atom of your world? Were that so; you were given nothing of your world, down to (?), according to the verse where He says this.

O man who is in ignorance. Or are you able to create an atom? If it were so, Allah would not give us anything; we would see to our own needs ourselves. Then what have you become arrogant about? What have you become proud about? Allah Almighty, in Surah Yasin: on the necks of those proud people We will put iron collars, He says. Collars. You know, they put a studded collar on dogs' necks. They put a collar on them. So that when it fights with a wolf, the wolf does not strangle it. They do not bend their necks to the ground, He says. Yes.

To Pharaoh and his people; but they were arrogant and became a people who considered themselves high, He says.

Sent as prophets to Pharaoh and his people, Moses (peace be upon him) and Aaron (peace be upon him): Pharaoh and his people, in arrogance and haughtiness, denied the prophets. Thinking that they too were no different from other people, and that people whose nation, as slaves, served them could not be prophets, they denied Allah and His prophets.

What was it? Moses' people were slaves. The people of the Children of Israel there, under the worst conditions, were being made to work. People from among them could not possibly be prophets. Now, Allah Almighty, pay attention to all His prophets. He always brought them from the lower classes. Why did He do so?

In the lower class no one hopes for benefit. Hopes for no material gain. Hopes for no worldly goods either. Only that the person is telling the truth, that his words are the truth, a person with his reason comprehends. Without coveting the wealth of the world, they believe that person: yes, you are right, and only a prophet says this. Saying 'what you say is the truth', they believe in Allah and His Messenger. Otherwise faith is a fake faith. It is not faith. It is fraud. We could even call this hypocrisy. His money, his power, his position, his greatness, so to speak, coveting these, to his orders, to what he says, the person who appears to comply, when he finds an opening, immediately commits betrayal.

For this reason Allah Almighty always brought His prophets from among the people of the lower classes. Lastly, Muhammad (peace be upon him) too, as the orphan of Abdullah: his father passes away. He is born an orphan. Among the Arabs an orphan is looked down on. In this situation, because his (?), Banu Hashim, was strong, he is raised by his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib. Because of this they cannot touch him, cannot say anything. And Moses was raised by Pharaoh's wife.

Yes.

Allah Almighty's divine manifestation: showing people His miracles.

Sent as prophets to Pharaoh and his people, Moses (peace be upon him) and Aaron (peace be upon him): Pharaoh and his people, in arrogance and haughtiness, denied the prophets. They looked down on Moses (peace be upon him) and his brother Aaron (peace be upon him). Thinking that they too were no different from other people, and that people whose nation, as slaves, to them rendered service could not be prophets, they denied Allah and His prophets. So pride and the whims of the nafs in people are the factors that prepare man's ruin.

How do they prepare it? First, the violence of the nafs, his seeing himself as something, seeing himself as great, Satan giving him many tricks, with those tricks the person seeing himself as right, and in this situation oppressing people. This is the game Satan plays on that person.

They denied Allah and His prophets. So pride and the whims of the nafs in people are the factors that prepare man's ruin. Allah does not discriminate among His servants. In Allah's sight the most beloved servants are those who, affirming Allah in their hearts, are obedient to Allah and engage in worship. And the people Allah does not love are those who see their own selves above everything and among people carry themselves with self-importance and arrogance. Such people, with these traits, move away from Allah. These people, preparing their own destruction, become wrongdoers against their own selves. Pharaoh and his people too were people who boasted, saw themselves as great, among people made class distinctions, and, looking down on people, admired themselves, and lived in arrogance and pride.

So in this situation Allah Almighty, them, that people, Pharaoh and his soldiers, in the Red Sea, when Moses split the sea and crossed to the other side, when Pharaoh and his soldiers plunged into that split, opened sea, Allah Almighty destroys them there.
