Translation

Then they said, “Are we to believe these two men who are like us, while their people are our slaves?”

Tafsir

Pharaoh and his men said about the Prophets. Can we believe in these two men when their people are slaves to us and they are people like us? Pharaoh and his men were surrounded by pride and arrogance, and their eyes became blind to the truth. So these people continued to deny the truth and denied their Prophets.

One of the attributes of Allah is Asabir. Allah gives people a respite for denying the truth. During this respite, people think that if Allah existed and these men were the truthful ones, Allah would make what they say true and destroy us immediately in the face of our speech. But since that is not the case, they say that these men are liars. However, Allah gives them respite. He gives them a chance to see the truth. During this time, those who think in such a backward-minded way, who have completely lost their faith in Allah, Allah will destroy such people. One of them is the people of Pharaoh.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 47. So they said: while their people serve us as slaves, shall we believe in these two men who are like us?

Their people, that is, the people of these two, while they serve us as slaves, shall we believe in these two men? Yes, Pharaoh and his men said this about the prophets. While the people of these two men serve us as slaves, and while they are humans like us, shall we believe in them? What were you expecting?

Were you expecting a prophet from the host of the jinn? Were you expecting prophets from the host of the angels? Or, apart from these, were you expecting a prophet from the strange shapes you imagined and made with your own hands? To people with such a mindset Allah Almighty says this in His verse: Had We wished, We would have come down from the clouds with an angel and made you obey. So you are someone who, under such force, under fear, wants to obey — such a person you are. Against the great virtue Allah Almighty gave you, that is, the great virtue He gave from His spirit, and the great value He gave you, you show yourself only as one used to obeying under fear, base, of the group of people of whom He says 'to hell with them' — in that state you prove yourself.

Allah has given you great value. He has made you an addressee of His Self. He has left you to your desire and appetite. What does He want from you? 'Allah,' He says, 'Allah.' Well, when you were created so valuable, if toward your Creator you grow arrogant, if you fall into Satan's trap, if you follow the whims of your nafs, if you wrong people, if in grandeur and pride you hold yourself above people, then of course what will happen? In these feelings you drift away from faith, drift away from obedience to Allah and His Messenger, turn your back, and when you go to the hereafter without faith, to the hereafter, well, the eternal hell of which they say 'long live hell', (?) that bed — what an evil place of return it is.

You will enter there.

Yes.

Because pride and arrogance surrounded Pharaoh's men, and the longing to see themselves as great covered them, their eyes stopped seeing the truth. Therefore these people, continuing to deny the truth, called their prophets liars. They no longer saw the truth, and although they heard the truth, since there was a veil on their ears they did not hear it. In this situation they caused Allah Almighty to seal their hearts. Hatem Allah-u Teala (?) a veil over their eyes, and a veil over their ears they caused to be drawn. They caused their hearts to be sealed. For them there is a painful punishment, He says.

One of Allah Almighty's attributes is patience. Patience: in response to people denying the truth, Allah grants them a respite. What kind of respite? So that within his lifetime a person may duly prove what kind of person he is, by creating actual deeds — Allah Almighty creating causes — and the person, in line with his own desire and wish, working those created causes through actual deeds, proving what kind of person he is until the end of his life; and when his life is over, when the truth comes to pass, that earth another earth, in the heavens another, (?) sky, the world completely flat, He says; when they are brought there, when it is said (?), when each is gathered at the place of assembly, at the Supreme Court — Eleysallahu bi-ahkemi l-hâkimîn — in the presence of the Judge of judges: today with the actual deeds each has done, with no one wronged, they will see what they did as the earnings of their own two hands — the verse in which He says this is what they will meet.

Yes. One of Allah Almighty's attributes is also as-Sabur. Allah grants people a respite in response to their denying the truth. During this respite people think: if Allah existed and if these men were telling the truth, then in response to our words Allah would prove their words true and destroy us at once. 'Destroy at once' — that is what their forefathers always said. 'Let Allah rain stones on us, let Allah destroy us!' What more miracles are these people supposed to show you? Although they showed the finest of miracles, beyond the human, although Allah proved His existence and His divine Self through miracles upon the prophets, they still ask for calamity. They ask for destruction.

Like whom? Like the people of Lot. Stones rain down on their heads. With those stones called (?), each stone knows its owner and strikes and kills him there. Like the people of Salih, in a drought, in the summer heat, they look for a place for shade. They see a cloud coming from across. 'Fine,' they say. 'We'll take shade under this cloud.' Yet they cannot know that the cloud is a cloud of destruction. Under that cloud, with one cry, they all perish on their knees. Like this. With so many miracles, with superhuman events, this much. If Allah Almighty proves His Self to people as today, and you turn your back on Him, of course the eternal place of return is that place of hell.

The place of hell. Hell has been created for them.

What does Allah Almighty say? Ve lekad zere'nâ li cehenneme kesîran mine'l-cinni ve'l-ins — this verse too they interpret wrongly. With the verse saying 'We created many of humans and jinn for hell' they ascribe attributes to Allah.

They forget that this world is a likeness and shadow of the hereafter. The meaning of the verse: hell. Hell was created for such people — they change the word of the verse, say He created many of humans and jinn for hell, and ascribe it to Allah. Yes. Whereas hell — Allah Almighty, the absolute Owner of the worlds, who created these worlds from nothing, who, so that His Self be known, gave a part of His spirit and made man an addressee of His Self — Allah Almighty, free of deficient attributes, has left man free in his own will and has left the ability, through the will he exercises and his actual deeds, to earn reward and sin to man himself.

Fe men ya'mel miskâle zerretin hayran yerah. Miskâle zerretin hayran yerah: I will write it down. Fe men ya'mel miskâle zerretin şerran yerah. Miskâle zerretin şerran yerah: I will write it down — according to this verse, the value He gave man man does away with, and his wanting to submit under fear and force and to have curses written for him is astonishing; that they are mindless, and that by turning their backs on Allah and His Messenger hell was created for this — they do away with that and deliberately ascribe attributes to Allah — such people. Yes. Open the Noble Quran. Surah Al-A'raf, the 179th verse. Whichever Quran you open, the same verse is there.

How are the verses interpreted? They say: 'We created many of humans and jinn for hell.' They are not ashamed. Yes. We continue our lesson.

Allah would prove what these say true; they would destroy us at once. But since no such thing happens, these men are liars, they say. Yet Allah grants them a respite. He gives them the chance to see the truth. In this time, those who think with such ulterior motives are those who completely lose their faith in Allah. Allah Almighty destroys such peoples. And one of these is the people of Pharaoh.
