Translation

There is no good in most of their secret counsels. Except for those who counsel to give charity, or to do good, or to reconcile people. To those who do this seeking Allah’s pleasure, We will give them a great reward soon.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) declares that there is no good in people whispering. If people hide their conversations from some people, they are either backbiting, backbiting or plotting to harm someone else. Many such things can come to people's minds. Therefore, there is no good in many words spoken in whispers in secret.

Even if people talk secretly in whispers with some people in the presence of each other, other people are offended, wondering if they are talking about us or against us. In this respect, most of the words spoken in secret are not good, and they break the hearts of their own spouses and friends. People who whisper in secret are also weak in faith. In this way, most people who speak in whispers in secret, hiding their words from people, commit sins. Because they do not easily speak good. Surely the words they speak are words against people, words that harm them, so secret conversations are taking place.

Except for the whispering of those who wish to do charity or a good deed or to make amends between people. They may whisper among themselves for charity, even in secret. The reason for this is that they may speak in secret, so that they do not show off their charity to people, and so that their ego does not have a desire to do so. Or they can whisper among themselves about the help they will give, so that the person in need is not exposed and offended.

People have a bad relationship with some people. People who want to reconcile them, so that their situation does not get worse, can talk secretly among themselves to reconcile them. People can also talk secretly among themselves to cover up their misdeeds. Similarly, whispered conversations that can lead to good deeds can be done secretly. To those who make these speeches for the sake of Allah, Allah (swt) says in His verse:

(Whoever does this for the pleasure of Allah, We will soon give him a great reward). Allah (swt) says that those who do such good deeds and help the servants of Allah for the sake of Allah (swt) without announcing their help secretly, will soon be rewarded.

The meaning of "soon" is that Allah (swt) says in His Verse: "A thousand years of the world is like a day of the Hereafter". Compared to the Hereafter, man's lifespan in the realm of property is only one or two hours. Allah (swt) uses the word "near" because of the fact that people stay in the realm of property for one or two hours.

Therefore, the fact that Allah (swt) promises them a great reward in the near future is good news that He loves such servants and will welcome them with a smiling face in the Hereafter and promise them great rewards from Him.

In this transitory and mortal realm of property, the unkind speech of the human soul, whispering against others and plotting against them during their lifetime, is an injustice to their own souls.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Nisa, verse 114. In much of their whispering there is no good, it says. They set traps, you see; in much of it, it says. Because, in proportion to their minds, outside the verses, they whisper of their own accord. So in some of it there is good. That is, they come and whisper about trade, secretly, even so, some do good deeds too. But these are very few. Very few among those who talk.

In much of their whispering there is no good. Except the whispering of one who wants charity, or a kindness, or setting things right between people. How beautiful. Whoever does this seeking Allah's pleasure, We will soon give him a great reward, it says.

He knows his Lord as Lord. He fears Allah. Of the blessings Allah has given him, he knows the people Allah created as brothers. He knows those Muslims as brothers too. If, while he goes to bed full and his neighbor goes to bed hungry, he asks after him and his well-being, and offers him charity, a meal, some provision, then, it says, We will soon give him a great reward, it says. That is, by soon He means when he passes from this world to the hereafter, We receive them, it says, such people, with a smiling face, and We give them the Paradise We promised, it says. Because no one is as true to his word as Allah.

Yes. Allah Almighty declares that there is no good in people's whispered conversations.

If a person is talking in whispers, he is surely scheming something against someone. He is scheming something. In much of this there is no good. These whisperings, these secret conversations. But there are some secret conversations. Very rare anyway, like this. His nafs does not let him anyway, you see. What is that rare kind? I need money.

Ahmet and Mehmet are going to help the Hodja so that others won't hear. They stepped aside.

So that others won't see the Hodja being helped, they talk among themselves in whispers: let no one hear of the good deed we will do. In these there is good. These too are rare, rare. So, in many of their conversations there is no good, says Allah Almighty.

People,

if they hide their conversations from some people, they are either backbiting one another, gossiping, or preparing plans to harm someone else. What sort of things? Many things may come to people's minds; this is part of it, we say; many such things may come to mind. As we say, you know, when they withdraw to their homes at night they whisper secretly, it says; they whisper to set traps, it says. Yes. What sort of things? Many things may come to people's minds. In this respect, in many words spoken secretly in whispers there is no good. Indeed, if people whisper secretly with some people in front of others, the other people beside them take offense, wondering: are they talking about us or against us?

Don't they take offense? They do. A brother says: what are you talking about so secretly? Then with us, I mean, speak in front of us. If you have something to discuss in secret, go and talk off to the side. Yes. In this respect, just as there is no good in most words spoken secretly, they also break the hearts of their own spouses and friends, of their spouses and friends. It is observed that people who whisper secretly are also weak in faith. Most people who talk like this, hiding their words from people and whispering secretly, commit sins. Now, among the things I know, some events came about.

Someone says to another: For heaven's sake, he says, don't let my Hodja hear, this would be shameful, he says; this is between the two of us, he says; the Hodja doesn't hear everything, he says.

Why does he say it? Why? To exploit his conscience. Why shouldn't the Hodja hear? Because if the Hodja hears, he will speak the truth.

We have lived through these too.

There are those who witnessed it too. We have lived through these too. Yes. So, secret conversations. They go among others and (?). Like this, most people who talk hiding their words from people, whispering secretly, commit sins. Most. Because these rarely speak for good. The words they speak are surely against people, harmful to them, which is why secret conversations are held. The verses are all events written as they were lived. Always the meanings of the verses, their counterparts.

Except the whispering of those who want charity, or a kindness, or setting things right between people; that is the verse. These may talk in whispers among themselves for good, even if secretly. As I said a moment ago: Ahmet Efendi needs money, Mehmet and Hasan got together and said: so that no one else hears, so that Ahmet Efendi isn't embarrassed, let us help Ahmet Efendi among ourselves. This is a very fine conduct. Yes, the person who does his good deed without doing it for show, his good deed, the help he gives, without hurting the one he helps,

who gives that help knowing he is giving it to Allah Himself, that person; and the one who receives that help, knowing he receives it from Allah Himself, that person, their conduct toward one another attains a great reward in the sight of Allah. A great reward. Yes.

What do we say? Except the whispering of those who want charity, or a kindness, or setting things right between people is excepted. These may talk in whispers among themselves for good, even if secretly. The reason is that they may talk secretly so that the help they give is far from show to people, so that no vain desire comes to their nafs. Or they may whisper about the help they will give among themselves so that the needy person is not exposed and hurt.

People are on bad terms with some persons. People. They may be on bad terms with some persons.

So that these people's situation does not get worse, persons who want to reconcile them may talk secretly among themselves to reconcile them. Secretly. Now an event comes to my mind here too. An event.

From Mecca the Honored

they will drive out those emigrants. The emigrants had already left. A document is written. It is hung on the wall of Mecca. No one shall give a daughter in marriage to the Muslims. Nor take a daughter from them. No trade shall be done with them. That is, a situation somewhat like the Christians' excommunication.

They hang it up. Among them two Muslims are talking secretly. Respected people. He says: a meeting will be held. At this meeting, he says, you be at the other end, and I, he says, will be at the other (?). When they speak, when I stand up and speak, you back me up, he says. This too is a secret conversation. And at that meeting, he says: they were our brothers. Even though they are Muslims, even though they are Muslims, since they have done us no harm, he says, it would not befit us to drive them out of here, he says. He is a Muslim, but they don't know he is a Muslim. I even knew the names of those persons.

I've forgotten. Names don't stay in my mind much. From the other side the other one stands up. Yes, he says. My brother is right, he says. If we, as people of this land, he says, have lived side by side until now and traded with one another, then today, he says, what is happening that, he says, this one believed in this, that one believed in that, he says, we have brought division among us, he says.

Yes. Look, in secret conversations like this there is benefit.

How beautiful. Examples.

What do we say? These people's situations too, so that these people's situations do not get worse, persons who want to reconcile them may talk secretly among themselves to reconcile them. Just like this. They may also talk secretly among themselves to cover people's faults. Whispered conversations like this that arrange good may be held in secret. To those who hold these conversations for Allah's pleasure, Allah Almighty says in the verse: Whoever does this seeking Allah's pleasure, We will soon give him a great reward. We are opening up the meanings of the words of the same verse. Surely every sentence spoken is the counterpart of the verses, isn't it?

The meanings, the counterparts of the same verse.

It is the time at which Allah Almighty, the one who does such good and helps Allah's servants for Allah, giving his help secretly without those around hearing, will soon reward. What is its (?)? A thousand years of this world are like one day of the hereafter. Like one day. Even if you live a thousand years in this world, it is like one day of the hereafter. A life of sixty, seventy years corresponds to one, one and a half hours. If this is not soon, what is it?

From the time the Prophet was born until now, at that time, died in 460, died in 460, I suppose a

2000, 10, the year 2000, take the year 2000, if we were to calculate, is it 1600 years it makes? 1700-some years, 1730 years, isn't it? 1730 years, hijri, one and a half days, one and a half days. The time that has passed from the Prophet until now is one and a half days. By the measure of the hereafter. For us, seventeen hundred-some years have passed.

Seventeen hundred-some years have passed.

And if Allah Almighty says soon, He speaks the truth. Soon. Yes. The meaning of His saying soon: Allah Almighty, in the verse, says a thousand years of the world are like one day of the hereafter. Compared to the hereafter, a person's life in the material world is no more than one or two hours. Because people stay in the material world for one or two hours, Allah Almighty uses the word near.

In this respect, Allah Almighty's promising them a great reward soon: that such servants He greatly loves, that in the hereafter He will both with a smiling face receive them and promise them very great rewards from Himself, this it announces. In this transient and mortal material world, the human nafs, showing itself as a being, while living, whispering against others and preparing plans against them, such worthless talk is their wronging of their own selves. It is those people's wronging of their own selves. Yes.
