Translation

This (procedure) is more appropriate to make the testimony properly or for them to fear that their oaths are rejected (by the inheritors). Fear Allah and listen (to Allah). Wrongdoers do not accept the guidance of Allah (as long as they stay on their paths).

Tafsir

It is more appropriate for these witnesses, who are close relatives and heirs of the deceased, to swear in this way so that other relatives of the deceased will not deny or refute them.

(Fear Allah and listen to Him) There is no other god besides Allah to whom we should turn for refuge. Allah, who has no partner in His kingdom and sovereignty, judges with justice, so whoever does not do what Allah says and rebels against Allah, Allah will put him into Hell, where he will abide forever. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah, continues in worship and obedience and fulfills Allah's commands, Allah will admit him to Paradise, a life of eternal bliss.

(When they continue in that state, they do not accept the guidance of Allah). Allah (swt) has sent His Word in the Holy Qur'an to guide all the worlds. Nevertheless, the group of misguided people, those who do not obey Allah and His Messenger, those who do not accept the Holy Qur'an, those who deviate from the straight path that Allah has shown, do not accept Allah's guidance to guide mankind. Because they have hatred and hatred against Allah (swt), they oppose what Allah (swt) says. In this respect, they cannot save their souls from torment.

Verse 108 of Surah Al-Ma'idah is also one of the verses that have been interpreted wrongly. Now, what does verse 108 say? First let us read this part.

This procedure is more suitable for making them give testimony as it should be given, or for their fearing that, after their oaths, their oaths will be rejected by the heirs, being wary of it – as a remedy, it is more suitable. Fear Allah and listen to Him. Allah does not guide the people who have gone astray, it says. Allah does not guide the people who have gone astray.

look at the error in the verse Allah does not guide those who have gone astray. Did this Holy Quran come to the worlds? I am asking. To the worlds? To all people? If Allah Almighty does not guide the unbelievers, the non-Muslims who have gone astray, then the Quran came only to Muslims. Is that so? Well, did the Quran come only to Muslims? Did it not come as a mercy to the worlds? Did it not come as a mercy to all people? So: the communities that have gone astray do not accept Allah's guidance. The communities that have gone astray do not accept Allah's guidance. So Allah sends His Holy Quran to all people, to the worlds, as a leader, as a guide, as a light, a radiance, as salvation.

In that case, how can you say that He does not guide them? Then you are handing the non-Muslims an argument. He will say: if you had guided me, I would have taken your guidance. Isn't that so?

These are the verses interpreted half-way.

Yes.

(?) And after that, commentators supposedly write commentaries. Commentary. What will a commentary written like this be worth? He knows nothing of himself, nothing of the verses – how could he write a commentary?

We are now reading verse 108 correctly. This procedure is more suitable for giving testimony as it should be given, or, after their oaths, for their fearing that their oaths will be rejected by the heirs, being wary of it – as a remedy, it is more suitable. Fear Allah and listen to Him. The communities that have gone astray do not accept Allah's guidance. Yes.

The close relatives and heirs of the deceased it says these witnesses, who are close relatives and heirs of the deceased, swearing in this way so that the other heir relatives do not deny them, in terms of their not denying and not rejecting them, swearing in this way, being credible, in terms of their being credible, is more suitable. Yes. So that the relatives do not reject them, and since these two, who are true to their word, are truly the closest heirs of the deceased, the right to speak is theirs. The right to speak is theirs. And they, by oath, without breaking the hearts of their other relatives, through the faithfulness of their word, swear in this way so as to make them believe them – within the verses our Lord has made known to us.

Yes.

So let us read this part once more. These witnesses, who are close relatives and heirs of the deceased, swearing in this way – in terms of the other heir relatives not denying and not rejecting them – swearing in this way, being credible, is more suitable. Indeed. Fear Allah and listen to Him. Why fear Allah? Every soul will taste death. And in the end our return is to Him. In the end. (?)

In this life that we live, as though we would never die, if Allah, His Messenger, His Book, death – if we forget them, sinking into the swamp of the world, we come under the yoke, we come under the yoke of the world. And as this world pulls us into its own swamp, together with the nafs and Satan, these three elements coming together, one drifts away from religion. Without fulfilling Allah's commands we return to the Hereafter like a bankrupt merchant. So every soul, knowing that it will taste death, in the realm of the Hereafter, before Allah Almighty, in that supreme court, remembering the day it will give account, must conduct its affairs in this world accordingly.

Yes. Otherwise, otherwise, as I said a moment ago, we turn into a bankrupt merchant. O Allah. Fear Allah and listen to Him. There is no other god besides Allah that we could turn to and take refuge in. Indeed, if there were another god, one would say: I won't listen to you, and take refuge in the other. Just as in states, when a political crime is committed, a person leaves that state, and when he takes refuge in another state, for a political crime that state does not hand the person over to the state seeking him, does not give him back. He has taken refuge in the laws of another state. But Allah's law – of the One who created from nothing all this universe, the law of its Owner – is not like the laws of people.

So whatever Allah commands is right, is true; all words spoken apart from that are false.

In that case, fear Allah. Every soul will taste death and your return is to Me, says Allah Almighty. Yes.

Fear Allah and listen to Him. There is no other god besides Allah that we could turn to and take refuge in.

Allah, who has no partner in His dominion and sovereignty, since He judges with justice, in His sight, whoever does not do what Allah says and rebels against Allah, Allah puts him into hell, where he will remain forever. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah, keeps up obedience and worship and carries out Allah's commands, Allah lets him too attain His eternal gardens, which are the life of bliss. Who, it says, is as true to his word as Allah? No one can be as true to his word as Allah. Friend, I would die, but I keep my word. Fine. Even if you died and kept your word, still one cannot be as true to his word as Allah.

How can that be? A moment from now – do you hold (?) over your life? I will meet so-and-so tomorrow. Fine. (?) goes there. My word… I simply give my word. And well, before then Allah's decree came upon you. Have you kept the word you gave? O Allah.

The unseen is closed to people. So Allah, who is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, Allah, who created these worlds from nothing – whatever He says, until the Day of Judgment what He says holds, and after the Day of Judgment too what He says holds. Look: both the First and the Last, both the Manifest and the Hidden.

Neither (?) nor forgetfulness nor (?) overtakes Him. He is the Ever-Living. He subsists by His own essence. If He says something, it holds both outwardly and inwardly.

Yes.

The people who have gone astray do not accept Allah's guidance.

Allah Almighty, with the Holy Quran, His word that will guide all the worlds He has sent. Despite this, the people who have gone astray, those who do not obey Allah and His Messenger, those who do not accept the Holy Quran, those who stray from the straight path, the sirat al-mustaqim that Allah has shown, do not accept Allah's guidance by which people are to be led to right guidance. Why? Have you not seen the one who has made a god of his nafs, it says. Out of the arrogance of the nafs, out of pride and conceit, out of fame and renown, out of worldly desire, out of grandeur, they, carried away by their ego, have received the (?) of lying unbelievers.

They have had the (?) of lying unbelievers struck upon themselves. Where? At the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm. They are lying unbelievers, they say. Why does it say lying unbelievers?

Before their Creator – although He said Elestü bi Rabbiküm, I am your Lord – since He gave man a spirit, a part of His essence, man's resembling His essence, resembling our Lord, the person being carried away by arrogance and pride, waiting for the Lord of his own imagination, turning his back on Allah and betraying Allah – those. Here is a verse for you. My Beloved, pay them no mind, in their time they betrayed Me too, it says. Believe in Allah. Those are the ones who will not see their Lord. As those commentators have interpreted it falsely, they are blind and (?), it says. (?) (?) There is no god besides Allah, so that they would see that Lord who created them. Besides Allah, that they would see the Lord who created them.

This symbolizes tawhid. They will not see their Lord. That Lord they imagine does not exist. There is one single god, and that is Allah. So these are the ones who, their own nafs, their pride and fame, their grandeur, their ego seeing as their Lord, seeing Him like themselves, out of the grandeur within themselves, deny Allah – those. they said: true, they said yes, it says. Why did they say yes? I gave them such a mind, it says. They too know that there is a Lord who created them, it says. But although I told them: I created you, although I gave them a spirit from My own part, although with the attributes of My essence I endowed them, they, it says, betrayed Me, did not recognize Me, they waited for the Lord of their own imagination.

They wanted Allah to (?) from the sky among the clouds together with the angels, and to prostrate to Him. That does not mean obedience to Allah. What is it? It means they prostrated out of fear. So Allah Almighty gives man such great value that, with a part of His essence He gave them, that is, with that spirit of His, He places partial free will in that person's hand. That person, by his own will, without being programmed by anyone, will know his Lord through his own being. A great matter. Without using compulsion, that is. Of course. Without great pressure, without any despotism, without any compulsion.

That is Allah. And this man's creation, through the part of His spirit He gave, as the noblest of creatures – that is it too. Yes.

The people who have gone astray do not accept Allah's guidance. Allah Almighty, with the Holy Quran, His word that will guide all the worlds He has sent. Despite this, the people who have gone astray, those who do not obey Allah and His Messenger, those who do not accept the Holy Quran. Those who stray from the straight path, the sirat al-mustaqim that Allah has shown, or who lead others astray, do not accept Allah's guidance by which people are to be guided. For out of feelings of resentment and hatred towards Allah Almighty, they oppose what Allah says. For this reason they cannot save their souls from punishment.

Amen.
