Translation

This (Qur’an) is a blessed Book that confirms the ones (Books) before it; We have sent it down to you so that you will warn the ones in Umm-al-Qur’a (Makkah) and the ones around it. Those who believe in the hereafter also believe in this and they protect (and continue) their prayers.

Tafsir

Ummul Quraa in this verse refers to the city of Makkah. Because Makkah is known as the spiritual center of the Islamic world, its surroundings are meant to be the whole world. Since the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was sent as a Prophet to all mankind, the Holy Qur'an, which was also sent to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), is addressed to all mankind. That is why the city of Mecca is called Umm al-Qura in this verse, meaning the mother of cities.

So warn people with this Qur'an. Announce to the people that Allah is One. It also says that the Qur'an is a confirmation of the Prophets and Books that came before it, that all the Books are gathered in the Qur'an, and that you, as a witness over all the Prophets, should inform the people that no Prophet will come after you.

Those who believe in the Hereafter. Those who are aware of the existence of Allah and know that the resurrection after death is true, also believe in this Qur'an. These are the Muslims. They continue to perform their prayers properly. The meaning of "rightly" here is according to the Ayat al-karimah, "Observe the middle prayer", and we have already explained this Ayat al-karimah. It is the prayer that they perform in the presence of Allah (swt), in the heart, in the realm of the heart, in the presence of the one and only Allah (swt) who created them. They always try to be pure servants of Allah by continuing to pray rightly in the presence of Allah with such contemplation.

What is said in the video

We left off at verse 92 of Surah Al-An'am. Our daughter Selin reads it like this. This Quran — Ümmül Kura —

is the blessed Book We sent down to you so you may warn Mecca and those around it, confirming what came before it. Those who believe in the hereafter believe in this too, and they keep performing their prayers properly, it says.

To the verse — yes, may Allah be pleased with us all, may Allah be pleased.

This Quran — Ümmül Kura — by no one taught, not learned, by Allah Almighty Himself, the purest and finest of knowledge, that is, its root is from Allah to warn Mecca and those around it; Mecca becomes the mother city. The mother city. Its surroundings are all the cities in the world. States and the cities of states. Like what? For example, the capital of Turkey is Ankara. Within these borders, those of Ankara, bound to Ankara, that is, to that parliament, all the cities. Mecca too is in this position. The mother homeland, the mother core: the House of Allah; around the House of Allah, the cities, the cities of the states around the world.

Meant for the whole world, for the mother homelands. Yes. So you may warn those around it, We sent it down to you — here for the Messenger of Allah too it becomes ve ma erselnake illa rahmeten lil alemin. Since Mecca and its surroundings — since Mecca is the mother city, the mother root, since those around it are bound to it, Allah Almighty does not separate the states and those cities of the world from Mecca. Because they are all servants of Allah and all creations of Allah. So that all of them follow Allah's house, He sends the mercy to the worlds, the Prophet (peace be upon him). In this case the Quran comes to the worlds.

Of course it will be (?) of Mecca. To awaken those around it. That is, to awaken all the worlds. To invite all the people in the world to the Truth, Allah Almighty's sent Ümmül Kura, that is, the Holy Quran. Yes.

which We sent down to you so you may warn those around it, confirming what came before it, a blessed Book. All the books We sent before you too: the Torah, the Gospel and the Psalms. Confirming and affirming, sir. The truth of all the prophets, and that Allah Almighty gathered these books in the Quran — what? He declares to us. Those who believe in the hereafter believe in this too, it says. If a person believes in rising after death, that in the hereafter, before Allah Almighty, at the great court, he will give account, then this Book too he believes in, it says. Amenna ve saddakna. Whatever came from Allah is truth, is truth.

And it has its place above our heads. What comes from Allah Almighty.

Those who believe in the hereafter believe in this too, and they keep performing their prayers properly. Properly. What is it? Performing properly has many meanings, but the real main meaning here, the main meaning here is: they do not commit hypocrisy. That is, they do not pray for show. Even if it is hard, they persevere in prayer. Because these do not abandon their prayers. These are those who believe in the hereafter, believe in the Book, believe in the angels, believe in the prophets, believe that rising after death is true, believe that good and evil come from their Lord. That is the meaning here.

And when it says properly, without bringing anything to mind, easily. The prayer one performs in the very presence of his Lord, that is, 'be mindful of your prayer there' — the prayer He means. Here, this meaning is not that. The meaning here: like the hypocrites pray, reluctantly, you know, they come to prayer. Where people don't see them, they don't pray. In this case, when they come to people, they say: we are of you. When they are alone with their own, they say: we will mock them. That is, we will make fun of them, they say. So the meaning here: not from such people — those who continue their prayer, such people. They perform their prayer properly.

By Ümmül Kura mentioned in this verse, the city of Mecca is meant. Because, since Mecca is known as the spiritual centre of the Islamic world, its surroundings are meant as the whole world. Since the Prophet (peace be upon him), by being ve ma erselnake illa rahmeten lil alemin, was sent as a prophet to all humanity, the Holy Quran sent to the Prophet (peace be upon him) too addresses all humanity. That is why in this verse the city of Mecca, in the sense of mother of cities, is called Ümmül Kura, it says. Yes.

Ümmül Kura, because it is the House of Allah. Because Allah Almighty sent His Holy Quran. He sends the Holy Quran too, but Ümmül Kura is the mother city. That is, Mecca. Then the surroundings of the world are bound to it, because it is its mother city. Because the Quran came there — the first Quran, as far as we know, on Mount Nur, comes with Surah Iqra. Isn't that so? On Mount Nur. Yes. Now, you warn people with this Quran. With the Quran. What does it say anyway, Ümmü Kur'an? Which We sent down to you so you may warn Mecca and those around it — the one, you know, that in Mecca We sent down, that Ümmü Kur'an, which We sent down to you so you may warn Mecca and those around it, and it is a blessed Book confirming what came before it, it says.

The mother, Ümmül Kur'an: the Quran We sent down in Mecca, We sent down in that mother city. To warn Mecca and those around it. That is, so that you tell this to the whole world. Ve ma erselnake illa rahmeten lil alemin, you see. A mercy came to the worlds. In this case his duty, that is, the duty of the Prophet (peace be upon him), is to explain the Holy Quran to all humans and jinn. so you warn people with this Quran, make known to people that Allah is One; because Mecca was surrounded by idols, by idols, and they, the polytheists, around the House of Allah, whistling and clapping their hands, would supposedly worship. They would circle around it.

Around the idols. Shall I tell you even more? Men and women stark naked, men and women stark naked, whistling and clapping their hands, around the House of Allah they would circle.

Pay attention. Today a certain mentality (?) (?) How well they match each other. How much they resemble each other. As if it were passed down to them from their forefathers. Yes.

So you warn people with this Quran. Make known to people that Allah is One. At the same time, that the Quran confirms the prophets and books that came before it, that all the books were gathered in the Quran, and that you, as witness over all the prophets — that after you no prophet will come again — to people (?) He decrees. Allah Almighty. After you there is no prophet anymore. You are the Seal of the Prophets, the one who brings all prophets to a close. After this there is no book anymore either. Yes.

the hereafter — those who believe in it, who are aware of Allah's existence and know that after death rising is true, believe in this Quran too; in the Quran — that is, just as they believe in the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel, those people believe in this too; whoever does not believe in the Quran — the Quran — since the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel are in the Holy Quran, these people do not believe in the books in their hands either. The reason: because into them, saying 'Allah said so', their own made-up ideas, their (?) they inserted. (?) Because they are pleasing to their selves, in this way they do not follow the Quran.

Yes. All of them? No.

Allah Almighty says this: Among them there are those who pray at night, give zakat, fast, He says. Among the priests and the rabbis. Among them. But they cannot reveal themselves, He says. It is true. Allah is there. Yes. Those who believe in the hereafter, aware of Allah's existence, who know that after death rising is true, in this Quran — in the Quran too they believe. These are the Muslims. That is, Allah Almighty: I gave you the name Islam. Islam. I made you witnesses over the other communities, and your prophet witness over the other prophets, He says. I gave you the name Islam, He says. Islam means those who recognize no other god besides Allah — Allah who has neither spouse nor partner, who neither begot nor was begotten, who has neither family nor child — and in Allah, in Allah's word, in Allah's messengers, in rising after death, in the hereafter — those who believe.

In Allah's angels, His books, those who believe in good and evil. Yes. These are the Muslims. That is, Islam. Yes.

These keep performing their prayers properly. Here 'properly' means, according to the verse 'be mindful of the middle prayer' — this verse we have already opened before. Knowing themselves in the presence of Allah Almighty, with contemplation of Him, from the heart, in the heart's realm, it is the prayer one performs in the presence of the One Allah who created him. This is the prayer performed properly. But I have already told you the meaning here. In fact, those who continue their prayer. Yes. But a second meaning of 'properly' also applies, of course, when it says properly. But the real core meaning, since it is Islam: he does not abandon his prayer.

They do not pray for show. That is, they are not of the hypocrite kind.

It is the prayer performed in the presence of the One Allah. They always, with such contemplation, continuing properly in prayer in Allah's presence, try to be sincere servants of Allah. Yes.
