At-Tawbah 109: Is the person who establishes his building upon Allah’s fear and contentedness better, or is it the person who establishes his structure near a collapsing cliff and falls with it himself into hellfire? Nations that continue with oppression cannot attain Allah’s guidance.

Translation

Is the person who establishes his building upon Allah’s fear and contentedness better, or is it the person who establishes his structure near a collapsing cliff and falls with it himself into hellfire? Nations that continue with oppression cannot attain Allah’s guidance.

Tafsir

How well Allah (swt) informs us with this verse that these temples have no validity in the sight of Allah. By saying that the one who builds his building on the fear and consent of Allah is better (inneddine indAllahil Islam), and that the mosques and mosques will remain until the Day of Resurrection and this religion will continue until the Day of Resurrection (do they think that they can extinguish the light of Allah with the blowing of their mouths) (Allah will complete His light even if they do not want it) according to the verse, He shows us the truth by giving us examples with his verses that the masjids and the religion of Islam are true, that there is no other religion and no other place of worship other than Islam, and that the people of faith do not leave the command of Allah (swt) and fear Him by giving the analogy of the one who built his building on the fear of Allah (swt). And he continues with the verse.

(Or the one who builds his building on the edge of a tomorrow (cliff) that will collapse, and he himself collapses with it and goes to Hellfire?) He compares the places of worship of people who are false, who work outside of Allah's command, who pretend to worship Allah, and who associate shirk with Allah out of their hatred and arrogance, to a building without foundation and foundation built on the edge of a cliff. Although they know that the buildings they build will collapse on their heads and they will perish with them, Allah (swt) gives them a good example of how they will perish by entering into them and finally being pushed into the pit of Hell when the buildings on the edge of the cliff collapse on their heads, that is, when they die. Allah (swt) says in one of His Verses, "Allah never forgets to bring an example with the mosquito and bigger ones", which means that Allah (swt) brings an example in a way that the most ignorant and the most knowledgeable can understand, since every intellectual will understand the words separately. No one will be able to say that I could not understand your verse, and if you had explained your verses in a way that I could understand, I would not have failed to worship you.

(Those who continue in this state are like those who take refuge in the buildings on the edge of the cliff, they cannot see the right path. Although Allah calls them to the right path, since every human being is free in his will, he keeps himself as a witness to his surroundings, himself and Allah with the decisions he makes. Those who say that they will be held accountable for their deeds, those who out of their ego and arrogance say that they will stay here, those who see the right path but remain in the buildings on the sides of the cliff out of stubbornness, those who continue in falsehood, those who turn their faces away from Allah and His Messenger, will end up in the pit of Hell with their death. They will find no one to blame. In this state, they cannot be guided.

What is said in the video

Yes, Surah At-Tawbah, verse 109 — this too is probably a wrongly explained verse, it seems to me.

Let's see, verse 109, Surah At-Tawbah.

Well, Surah At-Tawbah, 109. Verse. That one too was explained wrongly.

What does it say? Is the one who builds his building on the fear of Allah and His pleasure better? Or the one who builds his structure on the edge of a crumbling cliff and, together with it, collapses with it and goes into the fire of Hell? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people, it says. Here, the statement it makes right to the end, as the verse's rendering, at the end: "Allah the wrongdoing people, does not guide the wrongdoing people" — that statement is wrong. Wrong. It would be right like this.

What does it say? Peoples who persist in wrongdoing cannot attain Allah's guidance. But what does it say here? Allah does not guide, it says. Allah guides the wrongdoers too. If they repent. Yes. One must pay attention here.

Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people, it says. Does not guide. Among the wrongdoers, is there no one who repents and becomes Muslim? There is. Among the disbelievers, is there no one who repents and turns to Islam? There is. So this verse is not to be explained this way. That is, instead of "Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people," "peoples who persist in wrongdoing cannot attain Allah's guidance." Yes, this is how it must be explained.

With this verse too, that these (?) have no validity in Allah's sight, that they have none, Allah Almighty so beautifully makes known. Is the one who builds his building on the fear of Allah and His pleasure better — (?). With the verse "İnne'd-dîne inda'llâhi'l-İslâm" as the ruling, Allah will complete His light, according to the verse. That the mosques and places of prayer will remain until the Day of Judgment, and that this religion will continue until the Day of Judgment, yes, did they think they would extinguish Allah's light with the blowing of their mouths? With the verses "Allah will complete His light even if they dislike it." That the mosques and the religion of Islam are true, that besides it there is neither any religion nor any house of worship, He makes known with verses.

And the verse continues. Or the one who builds his structure on the edge of a crumbling cliff, that is, a precipice, and collapses with it and goes into the fire of Hell? So the people who are upon falsehood and act outside Allah's command, appearing as if they worship Allah, who associate partners with Allah out of their spite and arrogance toward Him — their houses of worship, to a building without foundation or support built on the edge of a precipice, He likens. Although they know the buildings they make will come down on their heads and they will perish with them, they go inside them, and finally, with the buildings at the edge of the precipice collapsing on their heads — that is, by their death — into the pit of Hell they will be pushed and perish; this Allah Almighty, representing it with such beautiful examples, makes known. Allah Almighty, in a verse of His: Allah never gives up giving the example of a mosquito and what is greater.

Since in meaning every person of intellect will understand the words differently, Allah gives examples in a way that both the most ignorant and the most learned will understand. No one will: "I understood nothing of Your verse; had You made Your verses known in a way I could understand, I too would not have held back from worshipping You" — be able to say. That is, every person, every person — when it says He does not give up giving the example of a mosquito and what is greater, so that every person can understand, Allah Almighty gives people encouragements and examples. The wrongdoing people cannot reach Allah's right path.

Yes, look, we have already corrected this part. The wrongdoing people cannot reach Allah's right path. So those who continue in this state, those who (?) the buildings at the edge of the precipice, the right path — they cannot see the right path. Although Allah calls them to the right path, since every person is free in his will, by the decisions he makes he holds his surroundings, himself and Allah as witness over himself. Since he will be called to account in return for the deeds he earned, those who out of their nafs and arrogance say "I will stay here no matter what", who despite seeing the right path, out of stubbornness stay in the buildings at the edges of the precipice, that is, who continue in falsehood, who turn their faces away from Allah and His Messenger, and finally with their death into the pit of Hell roll down.

As they themselves, with their death, into the pit of Hell roll down, they will find no one at all to blame. In this state they cannot come to the right path. In this state. Of course, if they change their state, if they repent, they will see the truth.
