Translation

(Noah) said; “Go and onboard the ship. It sails and stops by Allah’s name. Verily, Allah is Ghafoor (Most Forgiving) and Raheem (the One Who very generously accepts repentance).”

Tafsir

Hadrat Noah 'alaihis-salâm' addressed the believing people and told them to get into the ship. When the earth fills with water and becomes like a sea, it is in Allah's power whether the ship will move or stop. How long they will stay afloat, when they will come ashore and where the ship will run aground is within the knowledge and power of Allah.

In the previous Verse, it was said by some commentators that the ship was powered by steam. It was stated in this Verse that this was not the case. If the ship had been powered by steam, the ship would have been in the hands of Hadrat Noah and he would have turned it in a certain direction or anchored it on a flat land. The verse clearly states that the management of this ship is completely in the will of Allah. (Its sailing and its stopping are in the name of Allah), meaning that wherever Allah has willed this ship to run aground, it will go there. Then, when it is said in the verse that it floats among waves like mountains, it means that according to the conditions of that day, this ship would not have been able to endure these waves and that the technology of today did not exist at the time of Hazrat Noah, and that the ship remained afloat only by the power of Allah. The mission of this ark was to enable Noah and those who believed in him, as well as every pair of living creatures, to float on the water.

In fact, when Allah says in His verse (Surely your Lord is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful) that He is the owner of the beings He has created, that He will not do injustice to them, that each soul will be rewarded for what it has earned by its own hand, He is also declaring that the ship is also spared and that it moves at the will of Allah, and that Allah will have mercy on those who believe in Him in this world and in the Hereafter, and that He will be merciful, forgiving and protecting them.

What is said in the video

We have come to Surah Hud, verse 41. Noah said: board the ship. To the ship, by Allah Almighty's command, to Noah (peace be upon him) — that is, when the earth boils, when from the sky the waters pour down — take onto the ship a pair of each of the creatures I have created. Take onto the ship those who believe in you too. And the others are not believers anyway, He says. In this case Noah then said: board the ship. Noah (peace be upon him) invites those people, those who believe in him, even those who do not believe. Please, come aboard, he says. How do we understand this? How do we understand that he invited the believers, even the unbelievers, to the ship?

His son too was not among the believers. My son, today, he says, from Allah's command no one — apart from Allah's command no one is going to be saved, he says. Come to the ship, he says; he calls him. And what does he say? I'll climb a high mountain, I'll climb a high place — as he says this, between them a wave comes and drowns him. Now: board the ship; its sailing and its stopping are in Allah's name. Surely your Lord is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful, he says. Those who (?) Him and the people judged by Allah's command He is never one to wrong them. Because Allah is the owner of justice.

Yes. Noah (peace be upon him), addressing the believing people: to the ship (?). When the earth is filled with water, when everywhere has taken the form of a sea, surely this ship's movement or stopping is in Allah's power. How long they will stay on the water, when they will go ashore, and where the ship will run aground — this lies within Allah's knowledge and power. In the previous verse, some commentators had said that the ship was run by steam. That this is not so, (?) in this verse too, had been made known. Had the ship run on steam, the ship's steering would be in the hands of Noah (peace be upon him).

Because he would use partial will. He would turn it in a certain direction, or, anchoring on a (?) piece of land, it would stop. That this ship's progress was entirely in Allah's will, the verse clearly states. Its sailing and its stopping are in Allah's name. That is, to whichever land, what and where Allah willed this ship to run aground, that ship would go there. Then, when the verse says it sails on amid waves like mountains, that under the conditions of that day this ship could not withstand these waves, and that today's technology did not exist in Noah's time, and that the ship stayed on the water only by Allah's power is made known. The task of this ship was, for Noah and those who believed in him and each pair taken from the living things, on the water to keep them afloat.

Yes, indeed, when Allah says in His verse: surely your Lord is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful — that He is the Owner of the beings He created, that He will not (?) wrong upon them, that every soul will see the recompense of what it earned with its own hands — and that the ship too was protected and moved by Allah's decree; that Allah, to those who believe in His Being, in this world and the hereafter granting His mercy, protecting them, forgiving them, will safeguard them — He makes known.
