If We show to you a part of what We threaten them with (while you are on earth, We may). If we make you die (before showing it to you), their final return is to Us (there, you will see what will happen to them). And Allah bears witness to what they are doing.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) has sent Prophets and Books for people to know Him. Prophets are both frighteners and warners. They explain Allah's divinity and that there is no other God but Him. He foretells that every soul will return to Allah and that those who rebel against Allah will suffer the torment of Hell, but if they return to Allah and believe, they will enter Paradise.
If people do not listen to their Prophets and become rebellious and transgress the limits of Allah, Allah will destroy such people on the earth. If we can show you some of such people who will be destroyed, so much the better. In other words, if there is destruction in your lifetime, in the destiny of such people, we will show you, and if there are those you cannot see after you, after your passing away, then you will see what will happen to them, for they will return to us. Allah's promise is true. Allah is a witness to what all people do, and He is also a witness to their evil deeds.
What is said in the video
Surah Yunus, verse 46: If We show you some of the punishment We threaten them with while you are in the world, how fine, says Allah Almighty; or if We cause you to die without showing it, in the end their return is to Us; then you will see what becomes of them; then Allah is witness to what they are doing. Now, this is how our Lord makes the verse known to us. In fact the rendering of these verses is not fully clear.
The rendering of these verses is not fully clear.
Turkish lacks the words. To render the verses. So very faulty renderings are made. And since people have no knowledge, they twist and turn them according to their own minds. Because there is no knowledge. Now look at how this verse is rendered. But we cannot render it otherwise anyway.
And who will write it correctly? It is only written in the tafsir. If We show you some of the punishment We threaten them with while you are in the world, how fine? While in the world. Or if We cause you to die without showing it, in the end their return is to Us. That is, the Prophet too, "wa ma arsalnaka illa rahmatan lil-'alamin," is alive. Well, if he is alive, he will see. Even after his death, he will see. You know, according to the verse: if this were (?) of a human, there would be many (?) in it that contradict one another. Take matters to Allah and His Messenger, He says. Well, to Allah and His Messenger: is Allah in the world, that I would take it to Allah?
With the verses of Allah. And since the Prophet is alive, since he is among us, to him with his hadiths, or by referring it to him. In that case, if We cause you to die, how fine; that is, if We cause you to die, how fine, their return is to Us. This is not there either. Here it now turns the word around. What shall we say here? Alive. Now people's minds get muddled here too.
If He had said, after We cause you to die We will still show you these things, then everyone would go looking for the Prophet outwardly.
That is, to explain this word of our Lord perfectly, there are neither the Turkish words nor the Arabic words. Let him understand; do you know what they say? How it was rendered wrongly, and yet it is understood. It was not rendered wrongly, but not as an exact equivalent, I mean. Let's read it once more. After understanding a bit: since the Prophet is one among us, and since He says take matters to Allah and My Messenger where you cannot resolve them, right? And here in the verse, since (?) one another. Now, according to the verses, the shortcoming in how it is rendered here. What does it say? If We show you some of the punishment We threaten them with while you are in the world, with tsunami waves, with a disaster, an earthquake, a fire, with calamities, if We show them to you; and since there will be no more destructions, Allah Almighty will give calamities as a mercy for his sake.
What does it say? He will show while in the world, how fine? Or if We cause you to die without showing it, (?).
Then you will see what becomes of them. Their return is to Us. That is, then Allah is witness to what they are doing, it says. Now it jumps there once, and to the world once. He is witness to what they are doing. So here: if while you are in the world, while in the world, We show you, how fine? If We do not show it, after saying (?) you, since you are aware of their state, since you are alive, because of your being alive, until the time they come to Us you will see their states. Saying it that way seems more fitting. That is, as a rendering. The rendering of the verse, although he is alive. After returning we will all see anyway.
What it is. We will see those going to hell. At the place of assembly. We will see the separation of Muslims and disbelievers. So seeing only the going to hell, or seeing those states of theirs, is not exclusive to the Prophet, I mean. Not exclusive to him. People will see too.
Yes. If only we could render the verses well, that is, if (?) their equivalents could exist, it would be very sweet. This is what we are trying to correct. With things, with translations, or so as not to muddle people's minds, within the same capacity, without going too deep, we close it and move on. But when a person's mind works, then, as a result of his knowledge, in some ways we try to show him the truth. For His essence to be known, Allah Almighty has sent to people prophets and books. The prophets both frighten and warn people. They explain the oneness of Allah, that there is no other god besides Him.
They give glad tidings that every soul will return to Allah, that those who rebel against Allah will be subjected to the punishment of hell, and that if they turn to Allah and believe, they too will enter paradise. If people do not listen to the prophets, to their prophets, rebel and overstep Allah's limits, Allah Almighty destroys such peoples on the earth; so if We show you some of such peoples who will be destroyed, how fine; that is, within your lifetime, if destruction is in the destiny of such people too, We will show you; if after you, that is, after your passing to the hereafter, the ones you could not see: since their return too will be to Us, then you will see what becomes of them.
Allah's promise is true. Just as Allah is witness to what all people do, He is witness to the evils these are doing. This is how we closed it. In fact this is not something to be closed like this. Because the verse was rendered wrongly. Let's not say wrongly; it was rendered incompletely. The verse is incomplete. It is not possible for me to complete it either. I cannot complete it. If I open it up here, a different meaning will come out. Depending on how it's rendered. So here we can only say this: After your passing to the hereafter too, because of keeping you alive, until the Day of Judgment, what will befall them in their lifetimes, We will show you that too — saying it this way fits the verses with one another better.
Yes.
