Are you going to believe in Allah after calamity hits you, or now? (It is too late now) you are eagerly wishing it (punishment) to come.
Tafsir
When the torment touches those who do not believe in Allah and the Hereafter and mock at the coming of the torment, those who realize that they will die in it say, 'We believe in Allah. But they are disbelievers who disbelieved, pretending to believe in Allah because of their fear at that moment, because their minds know their Lord. Even if Allah saves them, they are not believers.
The doors of repentance are open for people until they reach the end of their lives. When death is revealed to him as a truth, the doors of repentance are closed. So those who ask Allah for punishment, and those who challenge it, when it comes, their repentance will not avail them. The doors of repentance are closed. When a person realizes that he cannot escape this torment, even if he repents, his repentance is no longer valid. Because these people were too late in repenting.
Those who do not believe in Allah's punishment out of hatred and arrogance against Allah, those who want punishment in a hurry, those who want to be saved from Allah's punishment out of fear for their lives, out of their own egoistic feelings. Believe in Allah, His Prophet and the Hereafter before the punishment comes, so that you may be saved by Allah's forgiveness. Otherwise you will be pitying your own soul.
What is said in the video
To verse 51 of Surah Yunus we have come. Is it after a calamity has befallen you that you will believe in it? Now? Pharaoh comes to my mind. A calamity strikes me — I believed in the Allah of Moses, he says. Then he denies. Finally, drowning in the sea, he falls into prostration. When he says I believed in the Allah of Moses, He says: Now? The soul had come up to the throat. Because he saw the truth. A journey to a realm with no return had begun. Now? I will leave you as a (?) for the worlds, He says. (?) they find him. In England, in (?), in a state of prostration they laid him on his side like this.
Too late, He says. Too late. How late? We have always said it. İzâ belegati'l-hulkûm. When the soul reaches the throat. One narration says this, the thigh; another narration says this, the (?). When it comes here, the doors of repentance close. Why do they close? In the realm of the hereafter, the realms where you made a covenant with Allah Almighty are shown to you.
So when the journey to a realm with no return begins, when that door of repentance closes, you see those places. My Allah, send me back once more. Look how I will worship You. Even if I sent you back once, a few more times, you would commit the same deed again. The reason: they are recording what I'm saying now on tape. On tape. Wherever in the world this tape is played, it will always say the same thing. And me too: as long as my destiny doesn't change, if my desire and wish, my intention, has become my destiny, then when those realms close I will again commit the same deed. Well, isn't Allah being unjust to His servants in this case?
What would it matter if He reformed them too?
Then Allah Almighty's sublime creation over humans would be abolished. Sublime creation. What is this sublime creation? Allah Almighty, by His essence, all the beings He created, angels included — these are robots. They are robots of light, living robots, the angels. People also make robots, program them. With programming they fulfil people's wishes. So Allah is such that He will create a being. That being will govern itself. He will leave it to its own desire and wish. With this desire and wish, as one addressed by His essence — so Allah Almighty gives a part of His own spirit. In that spirit are things: fame, glory, pride, arrogance, egoism, grandeur, whim...
That being, equipped with these feelings, equipped with this trait, He will leave free in its own will, and by its own will it will know its Creator. No created being will succeed at this. This belongs to Allah alone. So Allah Almighty, as proof of the (?) of His purpose of creation, left man's will free as well. Without pressure or coercion of any kind, that is, without using force, their own desires, their own intentions, He wrote for them as destiny. Those intentions and desires — into their desires and wishes He placed characters. With those characters people have desires and wishes. With those desires and wishes, through buying and selling, their trade, people prove what kind of people they are.
In this case Allah Almighty, people, people — when He created them, since He left them free in their own will, did not interfere with them. Therefore, since He took each human individually as addressee of His essence and each had himself programmed by his own desire and wish, He did not change their desires and wishes within His own will and robotize us, just as He created the angels. In this case, in the purpose of our creation, the good and the bad will be separated from each other, and for the one who knows his Lord and the one who doesn't, Paradise and Hell will be created.
In this case, Allah Almighty's most sublime manner of creation will appear, and man's honourable creation above the worlds will appear too. Since apart from humans and jinn no being earns reward and sin through deeds done of its own will, the superiority of humans over jinn being due to their having a spirit, created as the most excellent of created beings in the universe, through the deeds he does, within his own responsibility he will determine his own place himself. Behold Allah, with what a beautiful purpose of creation, making people addressees of His essence. Yes.
Is it after a calamity has befallen you that you will believe in it? Now? He says. Too late. Whereas you were in a hurry to demand that the punishment come, He says. Yes. That the punishment come.
Those who don't believe in Allah and the hereafter, who mock the coming of punishment — when the punishment touches them, those who realize they will die within this punishment say: we believed in Allah. Whereas, because of their fear at that moment, because the intellect upon them knows its Lord, they appear to have believed in Allah, but they are disbelievers who have denied. Even if Allah saved them, they would never be believers. On what basis do we say this? Yes.
Look, on what basis do we say this?
We read verse 12 of Surah As-Sajdah. those sinners, bowing their heads low before their Lord: Our Lord, we have seen, we have heard; now send us back to the world and let us do good deeds, now we firmly believe — if only you could see the time they will say this, He says,
but when they enter Hell, what do they say to Malik? O Malik, tell your Lord to lift from us a little of this punishment. Why does he speak like that? Because they will not be able to see their Lord. According to the verse. As long as those feelings are character in them, in Hell too he cannot part from that world of his. Still, that Lord who created him will come. His imagined, imagined Lord will come. They will take revenge on Allah who put them into Hell. Yes. Because within these feelings they cannot break away from this world of theirs, they are eternal dwellers of Hell, and still Allah's mercy reaches them.
After many thousands of years they remain as logs of Hell. What does 'log of Hell' mean? A log, a piece of wood, has no nerve sense. They are (?). Cut it, finish it off — it feels nothing. So Allah Almighty will remove their nerve senses too. They will remain there forever as logs of Hell. Because there is no death over spirits, they will live a deathless life. Yes.
Had We willed, He says, We would have given everyone their guidance, He says. But that I will fill Hell with some of both jinn and humans — a firm word has gone forth from Me, He says. So the jinn too have their sublime and lowly ones; since He says some of the humans and jinn, a part of them (?) will enter among the people of Paradise. So, the sublime ones excepted, since the lowly ones, the part of the jinn He mentions, enter Hell, the sublime ones too will enter a place where they will live, then; but since they have no spirit, perhaps they will vanish after a certain time. Because they have no spirit. Since the spirit is upon humans, eternity is upon spirits.
Starting from here, we already say that the jinn, after a certain time, once they have lived out their rewards and sins, will vanish. Starting from here we say this; there is no other verse. As we said a moment ago, it is not knowledge that benefits us. These fall into the category of unprofitable knowledge.
That day We will say to them: Today, for having forgotten the meeting — taste now the penalty of your forgetting then. Truly, We too have forgotten you. Taste the eternal punishment for what you did. The eternal punishment.
Yes.
Let's read the verse. We have a question.
We have time. Let's explain this one to you too. After that let's answer our questions. Is it after a calamity has befallen you that you will believe in it? Now? Too late. Whereas you were in a hurry to demand that the punishment come. That, He says — the coming of the punishment.
The reason? Because their characters are so, their destinies are so. That has been worked into them. For example, a person's — or water: unless you change the substance it is made of, it remains water. Two hydrogens, one oxygen. Right? When these elements combine, this is water. Of its two hydrogens — if you remove one of the two oxygens, the water phenomenon disappears. So non-Muslims too have had characters worked into themselves like elements in this way — worked in. In this case, if they gave their covenant as non-Muslims, as deniers of Allah, there is no return to Islam for them again.
But, He says: unless We will, you cannot will. Changing this is in My hands, He says. A word was also granted from Us. Paradise and Hell, He says. It is settled. Yes. Until the soul reaches the throat, the doors of repentance are open to people. When the soul reaches the throat, when death becomes manifest to him as truth, the doors of repentance have closed. So for those who wish punishment from Allah, who challenge this punishment, when the punishment comes, their remorse is of no use. The doors of repentance have now closed too. When a person understands he cannot escape this punishment, even if he repents, his repentance no longer has any validity.
Because these people have come far too late in repenting. Those who sin and repent soon after — we accept their repentance, He says. Soon after. We explain this 'soon after'. If the doors of repentance are open until the soul reaches the throat, if a thousand years here are like one day of the hereafter, if here a person's sixty, seventy years of life correspond to a time of about an hour and a half — Allah Almighty, who creates time within time, the life of people until the soul reaches the throat, and because He created people deficient, because He created them (?) deficient, and since people, created (?) deficient, will make mistakes — so that they know their helplessness and (?), because He intended and created it this way, until the soul reaches the throat He accepts their repentance. So when He says 'soon', this corresponds to that one, one and a half hours.
Repenting before this moment of death in a person's life comes. Otherwise, when He says 'soon': he sinned, let me repent immediately after? Well, an irritable man. He got angry. He swore. A day, two days passed, then he came to his senses. Will his repentance not be accepted? Yes. When we say 'soon', it's not immediately after. All his life, until the soul reaches the throat. Those who, out of rancour and arrogance toward Allah, do not believe in Allah's punishment, who demand punishment urgently — out of fear for their lives, with their own carnal feelings, they want to escape Allah's punishment. Before the punishment comes, believe in Allah, His prophet and the hereafter, so that, attaining Allah's pardon, you may be saved.
Otherwise you will have wronged your own self. Yes.
