(They earn) some livelihood and after that, their return is to Us. After this, due to what they have been denying, We will let them taste the severe punishment.
Tafsir
Those who disbelieve in Allah, those who do not believe in the Hereafter, those who attach their wealth to the world, those who depend on Allah's creation and covet it as if they will never die, those who forget Allah in the small benefits of the world and lust after Allah's creation. With their death they pass on to the Hereafter. In this context, the return of all people who die is to Allah. Allah, Who created first, will then kill and resurrect, and then those who deny Allah and the Hereafter will be brought to the torment that their hands have earned, after they have been called to account on the Day of Judgment.
Those who disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger while they were in this world, those who said that Allah and His Messenger said this when Allah and His Messenger did not say it, those who attributed crimes to Allah, those who slandered, will be told, "Taste the torment" for their disbelief in Allah and the Hereafter.
How disastrous will be the fate of the polytheists and the disbelievers, those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messenger. O people! Allah and His Messenger are calling you to salvation and the abode of eternal bliss. He invites you to salvation. He wants to save you from the punishment of that day. He wants you to return to your true Lord who created you. He wants you to break your pride and arrogance in your nafs, to dominate with your will the swampy and dark paths shown by Satan, and to enter the right path shown by your intellect. If you control your nafs in this way and turn to your Lord, you will be heir to the mercy of your Lord and inherit the land of eternal bliss. Whoever turns away from the invitation of Allah and His Messenger, he will have no helper or intercessor in the Hereafter. Then they will be subjected to severe torment.
What is said in the video
In our time, people, however, whatever notion they serve, they live irresponsibly, irresponsibly.
They feel no responsibility toward their family, nor any responsibility toward Allah Almighty.
Indeed, if a person felt his responsibility toward Allah Almighty, he would also feel his responsibility toward his family, he would strengthen his family life, heed the word of his elders, and not grieve them, and people would live Islam like brothers. Now, in this situation, people have drifted away from Islam. Yes, they have not abandoned Islam, but they have drifted away from Islam.
They think that with a single word of tawhid they will be done. All their desires and wishes have become tied to the world. For the world there is no trickery they do not commit. Going even further, they uncover and expose themselves. Whoever uncovers their (?) more becomes more modern, more high society. Allah protect us, Allah forbid. However they instilled this in us, people have been carried away by such feelings and compete with one another. To gain this passing worldly benefit, to gain a little worldly benefit, they disregard their honor, their chastity, their dignity. People who have whipped up their carnal feelings and run like a bolting horse after their own nafs.
Instead of faith covering the human body, instead of it enveloping the heart, the nafs has covered the whole body, and faith has remained in the heart like a speck. In this state: a word of tawhid, and faith the size of a speck in the heart. Where will he journey with this, how far will he go with this? Faced with passing worldly benefits, a person will both spend his life in stress and depression, and also journey to the hereafter without provisions. We seek refuge in Allah from such a life. From such a life.
We hope that people will see and know the truth. That they will realize they will be called to account before Allah Almighty. If at least the moral collapse can be prevented, a person will have learned somewhat to master his nafs too.
We want people again to do deeds that will please Allah Almighty. May He not, as we are deceived by this passing worldly life, put us among those who (?) their hereafter. May one not end up like the merchant who (?). A verse fitting our subject comes up anyway. "They have some enjoyment in the world. Then to Us is their return. Then We make them taste the severe punishment for what they used to deny," it says. This verse is an address to the polytheists, the unbelievers, the non-Muslims. But Muslims compete with non-Muslims with a way of life that outdoes them. Allah Almighty has the attribute of justice.
Even if someone is non-Muslim, His mercy in the universe is for everyone; in this way, by Allah Almighty, whose mercy is for everyone, through His attribute of justice, surely those who step outside His command also get slapped. Therefore, when they pass to the hereafter, in this state, in this state, will they be able to preserve their faith? Because faith has remained in the heart like a speck. When they take their souls, those angels, when Azrael takes his soul, I wonder, those who cannot bear its pain and follow Satan's path, obeying him, and hand their faith over to Satan... If, without any proof in hand, in this situation, we spend our lives living the worldly realm, we cannot be sure of our end.
Therefore, so that we can be sure of our end, so that Allah Almighty too helps us, help, so that those angels by Allah's command help us, we will perform our prayers, we will keep our fasts. Our Hajj: if we have the money, we will go on our Hajj. We will give our zakat. And we will keep away from lies. We will keep away from gossip and backbiting. We will not run to (?). Because worldly wealth belongs to Allah. "Every soul shall taste death." "The inheritance of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah," it says. In this case, if a person spends his life by Allah's command, then in that difficult moment Allah helps him too.
Yes.
There comes to my mind a (?).
Ahmed Bican Hazretleri writes it. He says: to the ring of the House of Allah a certain man clung. "(?) on the Day of Judgment, be my witness. I came here. I visited my Lord's house," he says, both talking like this and weeping.
Behind him there is a very old man, giggling and giggling away.
The man clinging to the iron, clinging to the ring, snaps at that old man and says: "Aren't you ashamed? While I am here pleading with my Lord, you giggle and giggle." That old man says to him: "Son, is help from the iron? Or is help from Allah?" "From Allah," he says. "You cling to the iron and say: be my witness. Doesn't Allah see you?" he says. "Father, who are you?" he says. "Oh," he says, "didn't you recognize me?" "I am not an astrologer, that I should know you," he says. "Ask Allah about me," he says. Allah Allah.
The man is astonished. "My Allah, what kind of servant of Yours is this," he says, "he tells me to ask You about him." At that moment, he says, he hears a voice from an unseen caller. From the unseen. "He is my (?) friend (?)," it says. At once he clasps the man's hands. "Father," he says, "command me something," he says, "so I may serve at your command." "Son," he says, "all my life I drank very little water. Bring some Zamzam from there," he says, "so I can drink my fill of Zamzam, so at least I can say: in my life, to my fill I drank water once," he says. At once the man runs to the Zamzam, to bring Zamzam from there. He sees that the man has passed away.
He says to himself, to Allah Almighty: "O my Lord, I am a (?) servant of Yours. To such a servant of Yours, serving was not granted to me either," he says; then at once it comes to his (?) to shroud the body and carry it out. At once he runs off and gets a shroud. He sees that the body is gone. To Allah Almighty: "O my Lord, what a bad servant I am, what a (?) servant of Yours. You did not grant me to serve even at his funeral." When he says so, again he hears a voice from the unseen.
"The one who remembered Me in his times of plenty, who mentioned Me, would I leave him alone in his time of hardship?" it says. "We took him long ago. We gave to him until We made him pleased with Us. We have put him in his place," says Allah Almighty. Yes, now I too call out to Muslims. In the life of this world you whip your nafs, like a rearing horse, knowing no manners or decorum, knowing no honor, dignity, self-respect or chastity, stark naked, uncovering yourself, going to (?), saying 'the more I uncover, the more high society I live,' showing off among people: where are you going? If you do not remember Allah in your time of plenty, what will you do in your time of hardship?
What will you do? May Allah protect us all from such an end. May He protect us from the end of a life that has made the nafs rear up. And as we remember our Lord in our times of plenty, may He join us to the servants whom our Lord rescues in times of hardship, may He do so. Yes. "They have some enjoyment in the world, then to Us is their return. Then We make them taste the severe punishment for what they used to deny," it says.
Yes.
Those who deny Allah, people who do not believe in the hereafter,
those who tie their existence to the world, relying on the things Allah created, are stingy with this wealth as if they will never die, that is, they are miserly. Within the little benefit of the world, forgetting Allah, they feel (?) for what Allah created. With their death they pass to the hereafter. In this regard, the return of all people who die is to Allah as well. "Every soul shall taste death," it says; "the return is to Us," says Allah Almighty. Yes. First Allah creates, then He will cause to die and resurrect again, and after that, those who deny meeting Allah and the hereafter, on the Day of Resurrection, after being called to account, to the punishment they earned with their hands will be dragged.
While in the world, besides their denial of Allah and His Messenger, those who say, though Allah and His Messenger did not say it, 'Allah and His Messenger said so', those who ascribe crimes to Allah, who slander, because of their denial of Allah and the hereafter, (?) punishment will be (?).
People are constantly in conjecture and doubt. Conjecture and doubt. What is this conjecture and doubt?
The accursed one, man's enemy. Who has gone to the hereafter and come back, does the hereafter really exist, if they say so, within these conjectures. That person, while in the world, does he never use his reason? The creation of this universe, the world he lives on, its turning in space around its own axis, the coming of night and day, the sun, the moon and the earth turning around one another's axes, the moon system being set in the sky, plus the coming of the seasons,
the creation of months and years, the forming of the constellations. Were these created by themselves, by chance? Or did these too have reason and life, and say: I will create a being above people on the earth. 'Let me create a human like this, let me set up such a system,' and so this universe came about?
Is it only the moon system? The planets in the sky.
Neptune, Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, the great planets. These, the stars of the Milky Way, some stars in the sky that guide people, like the shepherd's star, like the pole star, do you think they are there for nothing, that they came into being by themselves? Do you never use your reason? Now, (?) do we resemble?
One, if I give an example, of course for people who think within such conjectures: A person knows his homeland, his mother, his father, his siblings. Then he suffers a shock, a shock. He recognizes neither his homeland, nor his past, nor his mother, nor his father. There, where he is, he sees people, his life, that he is living. Where he came from, where he went, what he is, is unclear. He has suffered a shock.
In this case, did this person come into being without mother and father? Did this person become like this all of a sudden, on his own?
The example of this for us in the realm of the hereafter, (?) in our former state, when we were souls in our original homeland, when we made our covenant with Allah Almighty, we were raised to the barzakh. Then those places were closed to us. We came to the realm of the world. That is, we were shocked. That place was forgotten. Well, can we deny it, saying there is no one who created us? That there is no one who created these realms? Can we deny this? Isn't that so? We are in the realm of the world. We were shocked. Like memory loss. But the memory is in place; if we reform our nafs, from nafs-i ammara to nafs-i lawwama, from nafs-i lawwama to nafs-i mulhima, from nafs-i mulhima to nafs-i mutmainna, if you go back out, if you exit, you will see the city of those realms.
In this case there are those who see these, there are those who tell of them.
Now, did it come from nothing in this realm, and do those who tell just make it up themselves? Every person with reason knows that this realm has a Creator. In this case, did He leave you to roam freely, so that tomorrow, when you appear before Him, you will never be called to account? Inclining toward what He created, you disregard the Creator, Allah Almighty, and turn your back. You move away from Him.
Take what He created, too. Take what Allah created, too. And also thank Allah. Give thanks. And (?) your Lord. "Would We diminish the wealth of one who gives thanks?" says Allah Almighty. So if you take what He gives and know that it comes from Him, your Lord opens unknown doors to you. He brings you near to ease. He makes you prosper both in this world and in the hereafter. And so you (?) only Allah, recognize what He created, take Him as One. If you do not thank Allah, then it becomes one-sided. A person wrongs his own nafs. Then he suffers His punishment in the hereafter. In the world, too, he meets many calamities.
At the same time, this person is exposed to hardships. Hardships. He is exposed to many (?). While Allah Almighty gives non-Muslims two or three calamities a year, would He (?) those who live in a way that outdoes the non-Muslims? Of course He will give them calamities too. Yes. So, so that we are not subjected to these calamities, we must turn back to Allah. We must fulfill His commands. He is the one who created us. He is our Creator. He is our Owner. He is most merciful. He does not will injustice to people. Rather, man wrongs his own nafs. So in this passing realm, Allah Almighty gave us the garment of a body and sustains us with food and drink; if we go against His command, how will we go before Him tomorrow?
What answer will we give? Yes. Allah Almighty says: just know Me. Know Me. Say Allah, He says. Then I am with you, He says. But we cannot say this. Because the nafs gives a person pride and arrogance. Those people, out of that pride and arrogance, because there are (?) on their necks, cannot bow to Allah. In this case, his nafs, his pride and arrogance, partnering with Satan, feeling (?) for what Allah created, moving away from Allah, leaves his own nafs exposed to punishment. May Allah free all of us from such feelings. Yes.
While in the world, besides their denial of Allah and His Messenger, though Allah and His Messenger did not say it, those who say 'Allah and His Messenger said so' - who are they?
These are both non-Muslims and Muslims. Saying 'I am a Muslim', saying 'I have knowledge', saying 'I read it in Bukhari's book, I read it in Muslim's book', there, with words that do not agree with one another: 'so-and-so said this in a narration, so-and-so said this in a narration', and now the opposite is a hadith. 'So-and-so said this in a narration,' they call it a hadith. It truly makes one's heart ache, the heart. They slander them. A hadith has only one side. It does not have a second side. That is, it has no opposite. Just as in the verse it is single, if it is single, the meanings are different, of course.
If it is perfectly straight upon the straight path, the hadith too is the perfectly straight counterpart of the verse. So you cannot call any hadith that contradicts the verses a hadith. Shame on them.
And shamelessly, without remorse, brazenly they accuse us too, saying this man denies the hadiths. We do not deny hadith. We speak of the essence of the hadiths. In their essence, there is no hadith that contradicts another. Shame on you. On those who say such things. Learn. Learn. Though Allah and His Messenger did not say it, do not slander, saying 'Allah and His Messenger said so'. (?) a hadith now. "A time will come," he says. "Though Allah and His Messenger did not say it, they will say 'Allah and His Messenger said so'," he says. This is a hadith. Yes, everything is out in the open. And it says:
while in the world, besides their denial of Allah and His Messenger, though Allah and His Messenger did not say it... Muslims are included in this too; their deeds alone save them - no, not their deeds, their intentions save them; they make no concession from Islam, because they learned it so, because they learned it so; even though one becomes sinful, sinful deeds - since the intention is (?), he (?) and does not fall into the state of the unbeliever. So that he is not sinful: when he hears the truth, when Allah Almighty in His verse says 'do you never use your reason?', why those hadiths that contradict each other - 'in Muslim it is like this, (?) like that, in his narration like this, in this one's narration like that' - words that do not fit together, that contradict each other, when you take them as hadith, when the word of truth comes before you, why do you not compare, why do you not use your reason, why do you fall into the state of the unbeliever?
Yes.
We read this part once more. "While in the world, besides their denial of Allah and His Messenger, though Allah and His Messenger did not say it, those who say 'Allah and His Messenger said so', who ascribe crimes to Allah, who slander, because of their denial of Allah and the hereafter, (?)" This punishment is for them. They too will be sinful. If their sins outweigh their good deeds, they too will (?) a punishment. Is it worth it? Saying 'I read it like this', bringing out the wrong as if it were right, falsehood against truth, and standing up against it - what would it cost to use your reason a little?
So the end of the (?) polytheists and unbelievers, of those who deny Allah and His Messenger, will be (?). O people! Allah and His Messenger call you to relief and to the abode of eternal bliss. They invite you to salvation. They want to save you from the punishment of that day. They want you to return to your true Lord who created you. Breaking the pride and arrogance in your nafs, ruling with your will over the swampy and dark paths Satan shows, take the right path your reason shows, so that by attaining your Lord's mercy you become an heir of the abode of eternal bliss. Whoever turns away from the call of Allah and His Messenger, then in the abode of the hereafter that person will have neither a helper nor an intercessor.
Now they are made to taste a severe punishment. A severe punishment. Yes.
"All the good deeds they did," it says, "have gone to waste." Those who pass to the hereafter as non-Muslims will remain forever as people of Hell.
