Translation

When the sorcerers came, Moses said to them;; “Throw what you will be throwing.”

Tafsir

The magicians were entertained in Pharaoh's palace and the magicians took a promise from Pharaoh. Pharaoh promised them that if we prevailed, he would give us favors. Pharaoh promised them that if you prevailed, he would shower you with gifts. Then the day of their agreement came and the magicians and Hazrat Musa met. The magicians said to Moses, "Will you throw or shall we throw? By saying this, the magicians thought that Moses was a magician too. However, since they had no knowledge of Allah and the Prophet, they mistook the miracle of Moses for magic.

Hazrat Moses said to the magicians to show the people that magic is falsehood next to the truth, that magic is an illusion and how they deceive people.

What is said in the video

In verse 80 of Surah Yunus, too: when the magicians came, Moses said to them, “Throw what you will throw,” he said. The magicians who were brought were hosted in Pharaoh's palace. As we said the earlier (?), those magicians say to Pharaoh, “If we win, is there something for us?” And Pharaoh says, “Indeed, you will be among those close to us,” he says, “and plentiful rewards will be given to you too,” he says. Now, of course, while doing this magic the magicians also fear Pharaoh, thinking: “By our doing this magic, he himself might come to fear us and kill us too.” That is why they say, “Is there something for us?” When Pharaoh says, “You will be among those close to me,” relief comes to the hearts of the magicians.

But from the magic they performed, and in the face of Moses' miracles, they cannot hold back from believing in Allah. When the magicians came, Moses said to them, “Throw what you will throw.” The magicians who were brought were hosted in Pharaoh's palace. And the magicians got a promise from Pharaoh: “If we prevail, will you be (?) for us?” And Pharaoh gave them his word. That if you prevail he would shower you with gifts, we said. Upon this, on the day they had agreed, the magicians and Moses met. The magicians, for their part, to Moses: “Will you throw, or shall we throw?” they said. By saying this, the magicians took Moses for a magician too.

Yet because they knew nothing of Allah and the Prophet, the miracle that Moses showed they confused with magic. Moses, that magic is falsehood beside the truth, that magic is a deception of the eyes, and how these people deceive people — to show this to people, said to the magicians, “Whatever skill, skill you have, throw it out, show it.” Throw it out, show it. Yes.
